Affresh Washing Machine Cleaner, Cleans Front Load and Top Load Washers, Including HE, 6 Tablets

I know it’s a few years since you asked, but i will answer anyway especially after the one person who answered mentioning leaving the house for 6-8 hours. As someone who is scent sensitive and most cleaning chemicals cause nearly instantaneous migraines, i flat out stuck my head in the washer drum after using the cleaner and could only smell a faint ‘fresh’ scent and nothing more. The only chemical that is noteworthy would be the boric acid. Just don’t touch the actual tablet and i would imagine you would be fine.

Hello sandi, i work for whirlpool corporation. This particular item does not come with the wipes. The wipes you are referring to came with a bonus affresh washer cleaner that we had in market sometime ago. We have recently introduced a new product, affresh machine cleaning wipes, asin b01bhusr38 (affresh w10355053 machine cleaning wipes – 24 wipes). Thank you!

Since i have a maytag he washer and have used this product with excellent success. I would say yes. When the tablet is first placed in the tub and the spinning part of the maintenance cycle starts you will hear a bit of clucking around but no damage is done just a bit noisy. Affresh has a dishwasher cleaner that is more acidic and i’ve used that and i like it. But i have the washer tablets laying around and i have used them in my dishwasher and the inside is cleaner than the outside lol. And i dont run a separate cycle. I just use my normal soap and throw the tablet in the other open compartment in my dishwasher. I’ve heard people like using the washer cleaner to help clean their hot tub too?

I just add 1/2 cup to 3/4 cup of vinegar to the load of towels (right on top of them, not in a dispenser) along with my laundry soap of choice and it has taken the mildew smell out since the first time. I use it every time now! Cheaper too!

I used to have a septic tank and you couldn’t have a dish washer, so i assume this would not be good for your septic.

I doubt it. I ran two packets through twice and though it did smell better it didn’t remove any gunk. I won’t buy them again.

The dishwasher cleaner is a thick liquid inside a bottle that you place in the dishwasher and run a cycle. The washing machine produce is a tablet that you place in the front loading washer and run on a special clean cycle.

Affresh is made for top-loading digital washing machines. I don’t think you are supposed to put affresh in older washers. It worked great for mine, but it is only a 5 year old top-loading whirlpool. Make sure your washer says to clean with affresh, and your washer should have a special cycle just for cleaning it with affresh.

Not sure as i have never had any build up. I would say try it and see. Mostly it cleans the washer and gets rid of soap scum making it work better. It also helps with keeping your front loading washer from smelling. Of course you still have to dry the door, rim etc.

I would say it is. There is a setting on my whirlpool he washer that says affresh. I was using it once a month and a repairman said a cup of bleach would do the trick so i switched to doing that. My washer had to be repaired recently. The repairman that came this time said the machine broke due to soap and gunk built up on the inside and told me i must use affresh. He explained that while bleach will disinfect the washer it won’t remove build-up the way affresh does. So it’s back to using affresh once a month for me.

This product isn’t for washing clothes, but for washing the machine itself. However, if you need help removing the oil and grease from laundry, pre-treat them with waterless hand cleaner. Works every time.

Does this product kill bacteria in the washing machines?

The box i received had a mild chemical smell- and i returned it because of that. The original product had a very nice fragrance which smelled ‘clean’. I think that the product is now considered to be scent free. I miss the original!
