In the us, will it monitor stress levels continuously and automatically or only on demand? Same goes for spo2 – thank you

Contrary to what amazfit support states here, sp02 is not automatically monitored. Stress levels are, in theory. I get huge gaps in my stress readings, sometimes hours at a time even though heart rate levels appear to be getting measured. I’ve only been using this tracker for four days now and am a little concerned at how inconsistent the readings are. Stress is sporadic. I got two nights of sleep measured just fine, the third night nothing and the fourth night back on again. Something is a little flakey.

It is not doa | read me first

Update 10/27: i am just now at 17% battery life without having to charge. I see other reviews mention that the steps aren’t accurate unless arms are moving. This is true to a point. I notice if my arm is fully stabilized with a shopping cart it does not track; however, if i am carrying in groceries it does count (i use a crate to get most of my bags in at once). I use it on my stationary bike and it monitors bpm, but i do question the variance in calorie count between my bike and the watch. I am still liking the watch for the features i wanted – to just track how much or little i move in a day so i am more mindful of my overall health. Working at a desk job from home, i knew i was growing more stationary and needed a visual reminder to move. The fact that this device also reminds me that i haven’t gotten up in a while is a bonus. I am not looking for the tracker to work magic and i know i didn’t pay the price of some of the other well known names – so i did not expect perfection, just something better than trying to monitor without an aid.

Original 10/14: received and would not power on and no charging indicator. Quickly submitted for replacement. Next morning i tried just leaving original on the charger 30 minutes and it came to life!
Battery life was lacking, 50% drop in a day. Tracking was accurate as long as i had it setting on my arm/wrist as prompted.
Replacement arrived today and same doa; however, i promptly charged to 100% and the battery is lasting so far a lot longer than the first. Actually i have been using it just as heavily for several hours and just now at 99%.
Sending original back. Will update review if i see any decrease in battery or functionality.

Best watch i've ever owned, but not always an accurate tracker

I started a new job that required me to be on my feet all day, move around a lot, and wash my hands constantly. It was important to me to have a waterproof watch so i could time certain aspects of my job. I wanted a cheap waterproof watch, and after trying two different 20 dollar watches from the mart of wal that both lasted less than a week, i decided to purchase this. I didn’t care about tracking anything, i just wanted something cheap but durable that could handle being roughed up and exposed to water that would still tell the time.

This thing is amazing for that purpose, but i wouldn’t want to rely on it to accurately track biometrics.

I’ve knocked my hand/wrist/arm into walls, pipes, sinks, toilets, desks, doorways hard enough on multiple occasions to wince and be convinced i accidentally cracked the screen. The screen is still flawless, and i didn’t put any sort of protector on it. I’ve washed my hands enough to turn them red, submerged this watch, wiped it with lysol orisopropyl alcohol to disinfect it, accidentally slathered it in lotion, and it’s come clean and still works perfectly every time. In fact, after a few months of use, it looks just the same as the day i bought it.

11/10 for durability.

However, sometimes this thing misreads. One time i had it sitting in the pouch on the front of my lunchbox at work for a few hours, and it decided my heart rate was 40 bpm during those hours despite me not even being in the same room. (unless my lunchbox has come to life?) sometimes the device decides my heartrate is 120 while i’m sitting down, or 50 while i’m on my feet, and when i check my pulse with a blood pressure cuff i have in the house, it is most definitely normal. Overall the baseline pulse seems somewhat accurate, it just spikes and falls once or twice a day seemingly at random. The blood oxygen sensor seems to be bamboozled if i’m sweaty or have just washed my hands. One time i was sitting watching tv, and when i got up the watch decided that during the time i was watching tv i was actually asleep and it cheerfully informed me of my ‘nap’ biometrics.

The one set of readings that seems pretty accurate is the step counter / pedometer. It wasn’t a feature i was looking for but now that i have it i like to wear it even when i don’t need a watch (mowing the lawn, etc) just to see how many steps i’m putting it.

If you have a health condition that requires accurate information, or are serious about tracking, look elsewhere. If you want the world’s most durable waterproof watch, this is it. If you’re curious but not serious to see your pulse or other readings, and don’t need them to be medically accurate, this is probably a good place to start with a basic tracker.

The custom backgrounds are a nice perk, but i like having my pedometer information and the current weather displayed on the face, and none of the custom watch face templates have that so i’ve stuck with the default one. Customize-ability in this is basic but still way more than i was expecting since i bought this just looking for a cheap watch.

It’s also been exteremely comfortable to wear. I hate having jewelry on me, won’t even wear my wedding ring because i hate the feel of something on my skin like that, but this doesn’t bother me unless i’m particularly sweaty.

Highly recommend, unless you’re looking for accuracy.

Afib health assistant

To start off, i have afib and i use a samsung (s21) phone which has samsung health app that had a pretty accurate heart rate monitor but suddenly samsung stopped supporting hr monitoring on their devices after the s10 i think. So i had to use my old fitbit hr 2 but it didn’t have spo2. So as i was shopping around for a samsung watch i found this (amazfit band 5). I was skeptical at first since it is made in china by huami and its similar to xaomi band 5 and one other but i really needed heart monitoring since i had 15 afib/heart attacks from 2013 to 2015. I was 310 lbs now 260 (6′) and the amazfit is in constant heart monitoring. But not only do i get hr and spo2, i get stress monitoring, pai, sleep monitoring, atleast 30 different workouts, weather, set events, alarm, notifications, view text messages, rated 5 atm, 15 days battery life if you don’t add always monitoring, i get about 8 to 9 days, it also shows who calls (no you can’t answer the phone but if your phone is in the other room and someone calls you that you don’t want to talk to, you don’t have to rush to get your phone and dismiss it . You can also add other accounts so your wife, doctor or whoever you choose can see what you’ve done and challenge them to daily, weekly or monthly exercise schemes. All that to say it only cost me $60 for my wife and i and now my twins want one for sports, varsity bball, track, and just competition with their old dad 60 yrs old. My 4 older sons who are 32 to 43 are getting in this exercise thing with me. Plus the mobile app allows you to change the face for free, you get atleast 25 different faces. And you can get different color bands after market of course that are inexpensive. The only thing missing is gps. It’s not an apple watch, nor a samsung watch but it does everything i need it to do, oh it tells time ok i’m just being silly but if you need a smart /exercise watch or as in my case, hr, spo2, sleep monitoring, calorie, running, walking, cycling, you can’t go wrong and yes it’s made in china the app is called zepp and easy to maneuver through. Also amazfit, since i’m basically selling this for you, you can send me 2 more for my twins . So for my fellow afib and heart disease brothers and sisters and those who just staying fit and health conscience, this is a great buy and you won’t be disappointed unless you want an apple or samsung watch, but for the price you can’t go wrong.

Impressive for the price

I am very impressed with the capabilities this band provides. I average about 10k steps per day. The step count is usually within a couple of hundred steps of my phone’s google fit tracker. I love the alexa integration. I frequently use it for reminders, adding items to my shopping and ‘to do’ lists and asking simple questions (ex: how many cups are in a gallon). The sleep tracker is very helpful. Every morning i check the weather on the band as well. I also really like getting text and email notifications. Not great but still functional for readying most messages. I just like to see who it’s from and the subject. So then i know if it’s important. For the price, this can’t be beaten.

5+ stars – exactly what i am looking for

I have to write this review because i was misled by a lot of negative reviews and waited for long time. I almost decided to buy the fitbit verse 3, but wanted to give this band a try first.

I have owned two samsung smartwatches, one fitbit, and a new apple watch 6 for wife, but i am looking for a simple, light, long battery life particularly with alexa control function smart device. I finally made decision to try it. It took less than 5 minutes to setup everything. The screen is beautiful, super crisp text. The alexa function works perfectly even without the ability of speaker. I can read text message, and get phone call notification. It has a lot of basic health fitness tracker features that are very useful. I would give it 5+ stars.

Now, why i disagree with some of the negative reviews which is misleading.
** simply the most important: set the right/realistic expectation for a $35 smart device that can do alexa control
1. Not accurate: come on… Is the xx steps difference really that important for you which will destroy your whole health tracking plan? If yes, go spend $400 to get an apple watch. What’s important is the trending: did you exercise consistently, do you have a surge or drop in the heart rate suddenly.
2. Buggy software: i set it up and forget about it. I am not really sure what buggy is about. Are you doing a stress testing for a $35 device?
3. If you are pulling out each feature and compare with a dedicated device or apple watch or samsung watch, why don’t you buy all those devices to make sure you are happy with everything?

Last comment/warning: the screen is small, the text may be too small for some users. For me, it is really trivial comparing with what i am expecting from this smart alexa band.

Small, fast charge, last 4 days using all options

My in-laws have more expensive looking devices, but their apps aren’t as powerful as the zepp app that comes with this device.
The charge lasts around 4 days if you activate all the features, but charges fully in 15 – 20 minutes, which is relatively quick.
As far as i can tell, the device is accurate, but without other instruments to measure the same info. I like the tracking of the sleep cycle the best.

It was a good buy!

I bought this at christmas on a ‘special sale price.’ was looking at fitbit watches, but wasn’t wanting to pay their ‘name brand prices.’ ran across this ‘amazfit’ & it appeared to be fairly equivalent to the fitbit brand. It was on sale at a very good price, so i bought it!
It keeps time well…. I’m not quite sure about it’s other modes. I know the ‘stress’ function doesn’t work correctly. The heart monitor/pulse rate isn’t always correct but most the time not far off. I also don’t know about the sleep tracking mode. It hasn’t registered any rem sleep & very little sleep sleep per night on me.
There are several other mode options on this band. Although, i’m not sure how to set them up or use them. It doesn’t come with any clear written directions. I looked up online what i could find & am usually good at figuring things out. I’m still lost with many of this bands functions & how to use them.
I do wear it in the shower, & haven’t had any problems there.
Be very careful with handling & storing of the charging cord, because it’s light weight wire & flimsy. I’m not sure if new ones are available to order.
The battery life doesn’t seem to be very long, but i have no other brands for comparison. I usually need to charge it about once a week. Sometimes it seems to charge fairly quickly, other times it takes forever. Not sure why….

After researching to see what fit this watch. I did buy a pkg of multiple bands in a variety of colors. They were for a different brand watch, but said they’d fit the amazfit. They do fit perfectly!
I also purchased 2 pkgs of screen protectors. Save your $ there! The application is a wet application. Watch a video on wet applications, otherwise your likely to screw it up or it won’t stick.
I closely watched an application video several times before attempting. I successfully applied the screen protector the first time! It fit perfectly, & i was able to get all the rounded edges rolled down & lay perfectly flush against the screen.
You do need to allow the wet applications to dry about 24 hrs before wearing the band. That wait is a bit tedious. All in the end it seemed ai had a tight & perfect fit.

The screen protector seemed to be staying on & holding up well. 2-3 wks after application i noticed the edges starting to lift. Then the end started lifting off the face of the screen…. A week or so later i found the screen protector completely gone & don’t know where it went.
I’m not hard on anything either, & don’t do any rough work.

Great value, overall

I received my first band (a band 4, i believe) for christmas, and was so delighted by it that, when it stopped working a year later, i bought a new band 5. I’ve had that one for a year, and the screen has now stopped working… And i’m not even mad. For the price, and the functionality, one year longevity isn’t awful. I came on amazon to buy another one, and i will just plan to schedule that in, from now on!

Great price for a feature packed smart band!

First off, understand that these chinese brand smart bands are not going to have the feature set you get in an apple watch or similar name brand smart watch. You are not going to be able to receive calls on your watch or use it independently from your phone for phone features. But on the plus side this device is a fraction of the cost of one of the aforementioned watches.

I have been using a variety of low cost smart bands and watches (mifit, wyze, amazfit) for the last 4-5 years and i am really impressed how far they have come for this low of a price. New features on the amazfit band 5 include the ability to use the watch as a camera remote for your phone; and you can control your phone’s music playback from the band. And the charging connector is now magnetic contact rather than an actually plug. And the addition of the o2 sensor is a plus (so far seems fairly accurate). Other key phone features include vibration notifications of text messages or incoming phone calls as well as the ability to read a text message on the band and terminate or pickup an incoming phone call. The watch face is customizable with a variety of designs available from their theme store (all free) to please different style desires.

As for fitness features, the step tracking is straightforward and accurate. Heart rate and o2 seem accurate however sometimes it can have difficulty reading levels if the band is not pressed solidly against the wrist. Initially you might feel that it doesn’t provide the level of tracking that a fitbit provides, but it’s all in the customization of tracking frequency. The level of tracking it provides for sleep, o2, and heart rate by default records every hour or so for heart rate and o2 on demand, but it can be set to monitor at regular intervals. But note that the more frequent the interval, the shorter the battery life. The phone app is zepp and it offers pretty decent info display; it seems to be a little lacking for historical data compared with the mifit app or fitbit app. However it does integrate with the apple/android health apps which allows for more data analysis.

I’ve tried larger apple watch / samsung watch type devices and here’s what i like better about this smart band design. 1) the thinner band is much more comfortable for me than the larger watch design. 2) the battery life is much better than those other watches. The amazfit battery lasts anywhere from 5 days to 2 weeks depending on what features are turned on. 3) the cost – much easier to budget one of these and upgrade whenever a new one comes out. Also, replacement watch bands are very reasonably priced.

To sum up, if you want a feature packed fitness band with phone features and you are on a budget, the cost/feature ratio is very good with this device and i don’t think you will be disappointed. Just don’t buy this device with the expectation that you will get the high-cost features you find on the expensive smart watches.

It’s perfect if your a simple person!
I used to have an apple watch, but i wanted something smaller and simple. I really just needed something to tell me the time and keep track of my steps. The battery last forever! I charge it every two weeks or so. The work outs are pretty accurate, i wish they had a stair master option. The sleep tracker caught me by surprise, i feel like it’s pretty accurate.

Will not really pair with gadget bridge, a privacy app. Without the app watches barely worth it

I read about how people are stealing and selling your personal health information now and using it to track you and i have been hacked too many times to count so i am very much against anything that tracks me. But i read that there was a private act that worked with this watch called gadget bridge. So i quickly bought it. I am very unhappy. Gadget bridge is only made for people who have degrees in coding apparently. All i needed to set up the final pairing was some sort of authentication code. Trying to find out how to get this or how to get to work was next to impossible i tried numerous times. I read informational articles on it. I asked the community forum, no answer. No customer service from gadget bridge. The watch only tells you to use their app which is not private at all. I would like a watch that was rechargeable slim and showed me the time when i wanted to sneak a peek. No you cannot sneak a peek with this watch. It is hard to get the face to come up. It will however if you sit for a while measure your heart beat when you ask it to and remind you if you’ve been sitting for an hour which is somewhat healthy. It gives a random idea of the steps and activity you have had during the day although it is not exact. I really just wanted a rechargeable sturdy watch that didn’t look too bad on my wrist. If only i could see the time when i wanted to!

Comparable to fitbit hr

The first purchase would not sync with any devices. Customer service spent three days sending me photos, descriptions, and directions about what i was doing wrong. I finally got fed up and returned it. My husband, thankfully, convinced me to try again. I’m glad i did. The second purchase connected immediately to my device, and i haven’t had a single issue with function. It has now been synced to multiple devices. The amazfit watch is comparable to fitbit, at 1/4 of the price, and includes high and low temps at your location for the day. I dropped a star for the customer service and band. My hands are large enough, the watch has never fallen off, but the band does come undone quite easily. I was worried at first the small loop that connects the bands would break due to the constant use, but it has remained strong. The watch has an adequate battery life. Mine lasts a week or more depending on use. Charging is quick too, just a few hours.

Amazfit band 5 – good, inexpensive fitness tracker

First, this review is for the amazfit band 5 watch. For reasons that i do not understand, amazon has decided to mix reviews for the band 5 with those of two other amazfit watches (t-rex and stratos). Those are very, very, very different watches, with different functionality and different software.

I have had the watch for 40 days and have tried to use as many functions as possible to see what works and what does not..

The band 5 is intimately tied to the zepp app. I have been using the zepp app on both an android phone and an ios ipad. The apps have some minor differences on the two platforms, but are very similar. I have also had no problem connecting the watch to either my phone or my ipad, depending upon what i am using at the moment.

The watch claims to have a battery life of ‘up to’ 15 days. For me, it is barely getting 7 days. I assume if you turn off most of the measurements, like heart rate and sleep monitoring, as well as set the screen to be on for a minimum amount of time, you could squeeze 15 days out of it, but not in any realistic usage scenario.

The watch does have the ability to switch watchfaces. Two watchfaces are built-in and can’t be deleted. You can add up to three other watchfaces. You can find watchfaces on the zepp app and then easily install them. If you try to install a sixth watchface, you will be told you need to delete one of the watchfaces you downloaded. The two built-in watchfaces do have the ability to change up to two elements (complications). For example, you can change one element to show heart rate or steps taken or weather information or spo2 value. There are probably some other choices also. But an issue from my perspective is that while you choose the watchface in the zepp app, if you want to change an element, you need to do that on the watch itself. It really would be nice to be able to do that in the app.

There is also an amazfit watchface community. Using an app like amazfitwatchfaces (available on both android and ios), you can find watchfaces developed by community members and download them to your watch. However, a big drawback is that while you can download those customized watchfaces to your band 5, on the watch itself, if you want to select a new watchface, the official zepp watchfaces create a small icon, but the amazfitwatchfaces selections do not. That means you need to upload them directly from that app. In an ideal world, you would be able to download the watchfaces you like into the zepp app. The zepp app has around 100 watchfaces, while the amazfitwatchfaces app has around 1,300 for the band 5 (as i write this). You can see the available watchfaces at Be sure to filter for the band 5 watchfaces. (note that the same watchfaces are used for both the mi band 5 and that amazfit band 5.)

what i would like to do is to be able to design my own watchface, but i have not figured out how to do that yet.

Overall, i have found the watch very comfortable to wear throughout the day, as well as while sleeping. It seems to be reasonably accurate when it comes to measuring steps, heart rate and spo2. While the watch is supposed to be able to withstand water, i have not tried wearing it in the shower.

Annoyances include the following:
– i wish the font on the watch could be made bigger. It is hard to read notifications, as well as some menu items.
– the menu structure on the watch is very challenging. For example, if you want to change the watchface directly on the watch itself, you need to go to ‘more’ and then find ‘band display.’ the font size is very tiny at this point. It would really be nice to be able to put that in a much more usable location.
– the brightness adjustment is also buried in the ‘more’ menu, under ‘settings.’ that should be in the app. In addition, while there are 5 brightness levels, if you want to use night mode, it goes to level 2, for day mode, level 4. How about letting me pick the levels i want to assign to day and night mode?
– the band is comfortable, but i would much prefer a different style. In particular, i would like to see a quick release band. Getting the pin on the band into the right hole is much harder than it should be.
– the temperature seems to keep going back to celsius, even through i set it, and reset it, to farenheit.
– finally, the zepp app is constructed very illogically, for me anyway. Trying to find functions that i have used before is a real chore. The ui on this app needs a lot of work.

Overall, i am pleased with the watch. The battery life, even though not even half of what is advertised, it adequate. Recharging is fast. The watch is comfortable. And it tracks my activities fairly well. As a bonus, if you go outside the zepp app’s selection, there are lots of watchfaces available.

Does what i need it to.

It tells time. It reminds me to take my meds every four hours. The battery recharge time is very good, 5-7 days, and i’ve had it for a year now. It is inexpensive and just as good as my old fitbit costing 5 times more. I’m not particularly fond of watches that don’t allow battery replacement. As a throw away, this works. What i don’t like: it falls off randomly as i do yard work. Got a band with a clasp, $6, fixed. The clock face changes randomly too. I’m visually impaired and need a big face with high contrast, not really offered, but some are good enough. I “lock” the watch but the face still goes off track about once a month. Back to the app to reload one i can see. App is a bit quirky and just won’t connect sometimes. Cant see it in bright sun but had the same problem with the fitbit. All in all, i’d buy it again. Good enough and very competitive pricing.

Update: after having done some troubleshooting, it turns out that the battery needed cycling, which would have been nice to know in the instructions. I let the battery completely die and then charged it up for several hours. No longer dies within an hour and a half and is holding a decent charge. I suspect as this process happens a few times, it will hold a charge closer to the advertised number of days (i’d settle for a week). Hopefully that’s the case. I will then test to see how it operates with more settings enabled.

Garbage battery. At first i didn’t know how to turn it on, there’s no physical button. I plugged it in and it eventually turned on. Fully charged it, paired it with my phone and then put it on. Within the next hour and a half, the battery completely drained. I’m troubleshooting at the moment to see if it can be fixed, but nothing has worked. Turned off nearly every setting, only using it to track steps. Still drains. Save your money and time.

Bang for buck probably the best 'smart watch' out there.

Bought this primarily to monitor my sleep and it does a good job of that. The heart rate and 02 levels are usually a touch off when compared against my finger 02 reader. The weather app seems to be a couple of degrees cooler than it usually is, but for the money this is a super deal. It does a lot more than i’ll ever use it for, the app was a breeze to set up, and i expect it will be a great help with my exercise tracking. I’d definitely recommend it.

Overall a good fitness tracker

I used to have a pedometer to track my steps but this is way more fancy. I don’t use alexa with this watch so i can’t vouch for that function.
-comfortable to wear after some getting used to. Sometimes the watch will slip off when the buckle part snags but i have grown used to wearing this watch.
-tracks my heart rate and steps well
-tracks my walking activity well too
-the charger is easy to lose. It’s best to buy two more and keep one in the car and another just in case. I lost two already from traveling.
-this tracker will not track my walking activity if i’m pushing a cart or stroller. I’m not sure if other trackers will but this is quite a crucial feature missing during this part of my life. All my walking involves a child stroller.
-the zepp app needs more development. There are small details that affect the quality. I could tell it hardly gets any updates.

So again, not tracking my steps while i’m pushing a stroller is a big factor. I don’t know if i can wear this in my ankle or something. But as it stands, i’ll be looking for another tracker. Still, this is a pretty great basic fitness tracker.

Better than expected

1: first impression: hard to open. The packaging did not indicate how you’re meant to actually open it. There’s a little grey tab (unmarked) on the side of the box you’re meant to pull so that it tears the box open for you. Took me way too long to figure it out.
2: the instruction booklet is practically useless. I read it but it didn’t really help me learn to use the watch.
3: the watch itself is not accessible for people with bad vision, lacking fine motor skills, or who are technologically inept (like me). Overall, i would not recommend this product for the elderly. The screen is very small. It is a touchscreen face but again very small with means any and all text on it will also be very small. To turn it on there is a small grey oval on one end of the watch face. That’s the ‘home’ button and it turns the watch on and returns the user to the main screen. You can swipe up or down to view the other features and you can tap to go further in depth with each feature.
4: the strap is hard to put on snugly. I primarily use this to measure my heart rate so for me purposes i need it to lay flat against my wrist which i can do because my hands are affected by anything like arthritis or shaking.
5: accuracy wise i can only speak for the heart rate measurement feature (again as that the main reason i’m using it) and when comparing it to a metronome at the same bpm it reads at, it matches. I am confident in its accuracy. However, having said that, it is not a constant monitor. In the app settings you can adjust how frequently the watch measures your heart rate and the most frequent setting is every minute. Next intervals are every five minutes and every ten minutes.
6: the app is very customizable but can be confusing because there are so many options but i like that it allows the user to hide features they won’t use so there’s less clutter.
7: the battery lasts for a while and after a full day i’ve seen it drain about 10% ish so i’d assume it’s meant to last a week before needing a recharge.

I’m satisfied with it as a whole and it works for me and my purposes but i don’t think this is the best fit for everyone. It’s quality for the price and i’m happy with it.

Roll the dice

First, my rating is for the one watch that is, so far, working as described. Originally i ordered 2, one for my wife and one for myself, after fulling charging both watches, mine is still going 6 days later but her’s used the full charge in one day. I figured, oh well there is a lemon in a lot of things so i returned it for a replacement of the same watch. Got that one fully charged and it also depleted the battery after one day so i returned it for a refund. Bottom line, as i see it, is that this item is missing any meaningful quality control. So i have one watch out of 3 that is so far performing as described, it was charged 6 days ago and is currently at 49% so that should end up being close to the touted 15 days.

Take away: if you’re feeling lucky you might get one that works as described and if you do you’ll be happy with it but it’s a roll of the dice to get one that works as described.

Good product for the price

I really like this smart watch. It was a good size, i liked the screen options, felt that the steps and sleep tracking was accurate. Also i really liked being able to read my incoming texts on it. The only reason why i returned this product is that it didn’t detect my heart beats accurately. I have an abnormal heartbeat and i was hoping to track it so that i could show to a dr. Other than that, this item is a great deal! Side note – i bought a fitbit after this and it didn’t detect my irregular heartbeats either, returned that one also.
