Looking for specific info?
Why should i buy from amazon when there is a disclaimer stating not to because the kit could be rejected?
Its specifically warning against buying from unauthorized third party sellers. It states in the description that this is sold by ancestry and fulfilled by amazon. The concern would be in purchasing a kit from a different seller such as would be found in the ‘buying options.’
Does this kit provide info about genetic snp’s like mthfr mutations?
The ancestrydna or 23 and me “ethnicity + health” tests do provide info as to what gene mutations you have and a list of what health issues you are dispositioned for due to said mutation. I, for instance, found out i have the mthfr gene mutation. I learned who i got it from & some scary stuff, such as, being dispositioned for schizophrenia and miscarriages (and about 99 more things). It is really hard to find a doctor who knows anything about it. You’d need to visit mthfr(dot)net and research for yourself. Sadly.

What happens to your dna once the test is performed?
Nothing happens to it. If you are worried about someone somehow getting into the database your account is only identified as a random number. You can also send in the test under a fake name (few in my family did this, used a pets name the street name) only downside to doing that is you won’t be able to link to any potential relatives. At the end of the day i know dna can be obtained from just about anything i touch or use in so if someone really wants it they can get it -shrug-
It says you need an ancestry account. Do you have to pay for their online site?
No, you don’t have to pay, yet again, to see your results.
If you want to see how you relate to other people via your dna, yes, you do need a subscription. There is a 50% discount for the first 6 months or so, but you need to ask for it.
I found my father using ancestry, btw.

Do you have to live in the us to use this? Or can i send this to a relative in canada to use?
Anywhere in the world
Does this include ancestry.com membership?
No it doesn’t include a membership. You don’t have to be a member to use the dna kit. You can sign up on ancestry without a membership. You won’t be able to search for ancestors or relatives unless you become a member. Signing up will let you get the code to send in your dna from their kit. Ancestry usually has a free trial period. You could use that if you wanted. But make sure to cancel it after the 14 days or they will automatically take the money from your credit card. I have been a member on ancestry for a very long time. Right now i have not renewed my subscription because i don’t have time to search. I sent my dna in for analysis without having to renew my membership. I can still sign in and add to my ancestry tree but i can’t search out anything else until i subscribe again.

Does it include kit for testing & testing fees?
Yes
Already an ancestry.com member, does that help when using this ancestry dna test?
Yes. It will help to link you to existing family trees and documents.
How will a half-sibling match be reported? Or a half-uncle? It caught my attention that all my matches are ‘cousins’ only: ‘1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, etc.’.
It’s not really telling you that those matches are your cousins; it’s telling you that you share the same amount of centimorgans with that person as if you were that particular relationship. Most relationships beyond a very few like parent/child, sibling, half-sibling, and first cousin can and do overlap, which means that due to the randomness of inheritance, those relationships can be one of several. Ancestry just reports them in groups clustered as “cousins” but it’s up to you to figure out exactly how you are related to your match. Once you do, there is a way to tag the match with the proper relationship and it will show as that from then on.

Does the ancestry dna kit tell you your blood type?
No. It’s a saliva kit and there are much easier ways to find that out such as by donating blood, or asking your doctor during routine blood work.
Would i receive everything through the mail?
I got nothing from the mail.. I was instructed to go online to generate an account with a login and password.. I did get e-mails and phone text messages, regarding the status of the testing, but all the results were online. I was provided a link in the e-mail to my account, buy to my recollection, the online results were the only results provided.. Maybe they have a mail option, but i did not see it as i went through the process.. Not sure that 123 is any different, but ancestry.com is far better in information and results.. I’ve used both for family members.

What dna test havei ydna 37 markers, preferably y-dna67, and autosomal dna
None. Those are all separate tests. Y-chromosome dna test kits from familytreedna can test at various levels like 25, 37, 67, 111, big y, etc. This can only be taken by biological males as it tests the y-chromosome which biological females do not have.
Ancestrydna is an autosomal only test that can be taken by anyone and tests all lines.

Honestly you probably could it would be interesting all you need to collect is your dogs silvia
Can it be used in israel?
Israel is not on ancestry’s current list of countries that can send in samples. I see a lot of people from israel listed in living dna’s list, but i’m not very happy with what is available from that site.
Does this kit show mental health?
This one does not but the $99 one does include trait and health.
Can i purchase here and send as a gift to someone in netherlands?
No – the return box will have the address and postage of the us processing facility (we tried to do this for a family member in the u.k.)
How much does the kit weigh in lbs oz?
The details section says 4.97 oz.
Will this test show a link to a half brother’s paternal family, providing some of them have taken the test? I may have half brother by same mother.
Only if the half-sibling’s sire is also related to you. You can only see people that share dna with you. If the half-sibling has taken the test, you can filter the dna match list to find people who are related to both of you. You can contact people on the list thru ancestry and ask them for info. If you pay for the genealogy section, you can check records and family trees for the parent’s name if you know it.

Does this dna kit distinguish between ashkenazi jewish and the actual countries that i might be from? 23 and me listed 99% jewish, no help there.
Try familytree. They break down the jewish ancestry and they have several groups doing studies of male jewish lines if that would apply. The also do mitochondria dna for tracing your maternal relatives. Drawbacks are there aren’t a lot of family trees on the site and they post your email address. They do let you choose to see either shared matches or un-shared matches with each relative.

Well this kit tell me if i’m native american
Only as a generality. The list in their faq’s for populations include 6 ‘indigenous’ americas. There only seems to be one for north america, and 5 for central and south america. The map shows the north american group goes from florida to the arctic circle.
