Looking for specific info?

Can anyone confirm the ‘anti-tear’ claim? Does the mat, after several uses, began to shed/tear?

I purchased the goyoga exercise mat in january 2016 for physical therapy exercises. For the last year, i’ve used this mat every week (about 5 out of 7 days per week). I haven’t had any problems with the mat shedding or tearing. At about 1/2′ thick, this mat is more comfortable for doing pt exercises on than the thinner 1/4′ exercise mats. Glad i bought it!

Is it big enough for ab workout/other exercises?

I’m 6′ 5′ male, this mat is exceptionally long. I do find that lying flat from top of the map to bottom the mat cuts off at about the ankles. I do lots of core/ab workouts on my mat the padding is thick enough to make it comfortable and large enough to perform crunches or other exercises on without my body making contact with the floor. I don’t mind my heels hanging off on the rare occasion that they do because all other points of contact are on the mat.

My mat has marks/indents on it from the strap straight out of the box. Do these marks eventually fix themselves or will it always be marked up?

We moved the straps to a different spot and about a week later they fill back in. My dd7 uses the mat so she just puts the straps on all messy and folded over. This makes her indents deep and not wide and hers fill back in.

Is this mat bpa free?

This is probably nbr-pvc foam. It shouldn’t contain bpa, but does contain phthalates. If burnt it will produce toxic fumes.

How does this mat hold up for plus size people?

If you check the measurements of other mats, this one is twice as thick. I am over weight and it is just fine.

Does this contain latex?

No, our mats do not contain latex.

Mat has a strong odor. How long does it take to dissipate?

Mine did not have a strong odor. It smells like a mat (rubber) or whatever product but not overwhelming. Mine is new still so not sure how long. Leave it opened to the air and see if that helps.

Is it smelly like some reviews state?

It smells slightly like a yoga or exercise mat. You’re not going to find any may that is odor free. I don’t find that smelly. I think of it as a ‘yoga smell’.

Does this contain pvc? Is it a non toxic mat?

Please don’t worry, our yoga mat is health & safety, it’s made of high-grade nbr foaming material which is non-toxic, pvc free, phthalates free and free of any harmful chemicals unlike the traditional pvc, nbr, eva or eco-pvc (still a pvc) yoga mats which all contains carcinogen components. It is also latex-free unlike rubber yoga mats.

Have a nice day

Has anyone used it on berber carpet? If so, does it slide a lot?

I have not used it on carpet. My house has tile thru out. It works well on tile and does not slide.

What size of the box? What are the shipping dimensions?

I purchased the mat with other items and they were all shipped together in a larger box.

Which side faces up? The grooved side or smooth?

I’ve been using the grooved side up…when i tried to put that side down it slid a little on the carpet.

I have a thick mat like this that doesn’t work very well because it stretches during poses, which isn’t safe. Does this mat do the same?

It is too thick for balancing yoga poses -the instructor would not let me use it in class

Which side do i put on the ground ? The one with the stronger stripes or the other one?

Either side; the one with the longer stripes is the one i put toward the ground. I don’t roll up my yoga mat; i bring one end to the other end and fold it in half, then roll it. This method keeps the side that was on the ground or floor from touching the side of the mat i use.

Is it ‘sticky’, does it provide a good non slip surface?

No when i used it for a buti yoga class my hands and feet were slipping as well as the mat slipping in the floor. Granted i was sweaty but my thinner 8 dollar mat was better.
This mat would be fine for a slower yoga like yin yoga.

Hi, i have a quick question. Does this yoga mat slip on the wodden surface of the gym?

Don’t know. Our yoga mat is placed on the surface of a concrete floor…

Does it work on carpet?

The mat is thick (1/2 inches) if you put it on carpet, it would work fine with most of your yoga poses. But if you want to stand on one foot on the mat, it becomes unstable since the mat plus the carpet provide too much cushion. If the carpet is commercial type, then it would be fine.

My mat was slippery on the wood floor of the yoga room. Other class members weren’t having this problem. Has anyone had this issue?

I am using the mat at my house that has wood floods. It is not slippery at all.

Is it slippery or ‘sticky’?

It’s not slippery but with the thickness of the mat i found that the mat itself has more give in it then thinner mats. It stretches slightly if you are pressing unevenly. As i get use to the thickness of the mat i have less problems. Good for the wrists and back work.

Is the balancefrom goyoga mat made with open, or closed-cell foam? (does it absorb water?) does it have any sort of, ‘chemical smell’? Thanks!

It’s closed cell foam. Doesn’t have a funny smell… I read some of the negative reviews and it made me wonder what people expect from a yoga mat… Haha

Not ideal for standing yoga, but perfect for floor series or other uses

I do a lot of hot yoga. Over 1000 hours so far. For standing yoga postures this mat is terrible but only due to it’s thickness. You want a very thin mat when doing standing balancing postures. Ideally 3mm or so. This mat does compress nicely, since it’s made out of memory foam type material, so it does get thinner after 30 seconds or so of the posture but again, i gave up using it for standing series.

For floor series, where you’re not balancing, it works great. I have knee issues and can’t kneel very well on a 3mm mat, just not enough cushion. This provides exceptional cushion during those postures.

I also want to highlight another use for this mat, and the reason i bought more than 1. They work great as under rug pads. Provides great cushion and 2 of them taped together works perfectly with a 4×6 rug that i use in my basement office. I can buy whatever cheap rug i want and get a nice thickly cushion pad under it for less than a fancy rug pad.

So squishy!

I just got to roll this thing out and this is a mat sent from the heavens. It’s so soft and squishy, and it’s a great length for me (5’3-5’4) minus the little bit of damage from the velcro strap digging into the mat, i really have nothing negative to say about it. Haven’t tried the blocks and i’m not sure i ever will because i don’t know what for. But this was well worth it

5Expert Score
Very comfortable, very well made, and stable

Overall qualuty excellent
great value
love the carrying strap and my blocks.
Tne thickness is ideal! Yet, i am able to do the standing poses while the mat “stays put” and stable under my feet. For reclining poses , i have nice support under my head. It gets a 10 out of 10!

5Expert Score
Great value, great product

This yoga mat is much thicker than other mats and way more comfortable for floor exercise work. It is a great value for the price! The carrying strap also makes it very easy to carry along.

5Expert Score
Comfort

Having the right place for a yoga practice is key and part of that is comfort. The mat i purchase was the ideal solution to add to what is a hard floor. Well worth the investment

Love it!

This yoga mat is perfect. It is nice and thick so perfect for anyone who doesn’t want to have their backs on hard floor and i love the carrying straps. They are so easy to use and make it very easy to transport the mat.

5Expert Score
Cushiony!

This provides much more comfort than a typical yoga mat when doing back exercises. It is very thick and cushiony. Also, added, bonuses, there was no smell when i unpacked it, and it unrolled and layed flat rather easily even after arriving rolled- with straps for travel. Very happy with my purchase.

One of the few mats i don't slide on.

I’m really impressed with this as my 3rd mat and i’ve tried some others as well. It’s comfortable, and especially i don’t slide when doing down dog and such.

5Expert Score
Thicker than the basic yoga mat.

Love this yoga mat because it is thicker than the basic mat, so easier on my older body. I am 68 and use it for a functional weight training class where we are down on the floor doing core work and lifting weights. So easy to roll back up and secure with the handy strap for carrying.

Nice mat!

I like my new grey mat. It’s super thick and has helped my knees when on the floor doing pilates, etc. It stays in place and so far, doesn’t pill or shed. Very happy with this mat!

Not bad!

First of all, i ordered the product on september 7 and it took a long time to get here. I got it on september 23 that’s why i gave the review a 4 star. The product came nicely packaged and i really like the yoga blocks! I haven’t actually used it yet, but will soon! It does have a strange smell and i hope the mat can sustain for a while. I was hoping the mat would be longer as i am 5 ft 11 but it’s alright! It’s nice there is a 2 year warranty on it as well.

Excellent & durable mat for the value

Waited to write a review to see how this mat lasted over time. The mat was a very good value, and remains both comfortable and stable after 10 months of 3 day-a-week usage. Definitely a good bang for the buck and i would recommend this purchase for most yoga folks.

Love this matt.. So far

I love the width, it’s only been 2 sessions in so we will see!

4Expert Score
It said yoga mat and blocks

I did not receive any blocks with the mat, i only received the mat. I thought the blocks may come separately but they never did.

4Expert Score
Great for laying on

Maybe not most durable if you step on it with sneakers on, probably fine in bare feet. Comfortable to lay on when you can’t keep up with the drill instructor.

4Expert Score
Good yoga mat for the price

I am pleased with this yoga mat. This mat is sufficient size at 72′ long, 24′ wide and it’s 1/2′ thickness cushions me well on a hard floor. The included strap with velcro makes it easy to store or transport rolled up.
An improvement would be to make it a little firmer, and some way to prevent the ends from trying to roll back up when in use.

Useful for beginners

I started experimenting with yoga about four months ago. I knew i needed a mat, but didn’t want to spend too much money on it since i wasn’t sure if i would keep going with yoga.

I use this six out of seven days a week, for anywhere from 20 to 60 minutes each day. I take it to about two or three classes a week at different studios as well. The mat is starting to see some wear, though nothing nearly as bad as the images i see in some reviews. It’s mostly little pockmarks here and there, a scratch on the edge, etc.

For a clueless beginner with sensitive knees and wrists, this mat is great. For a beginner with some knowledge, it starts losing its attractiveness. My 100% biggest problem is that the underside has no pattern, form, or anything to give it traction. This was simply not something i understood to be a problem at first, but it’s very clear four months in. The mat will slide and stretch a bit when under pressure on a hardwood floor. Forget jumping to an open position – i slide when attempting to place my feet in a lunge, and have to spend time adjusting.

I think this is a great mat if you’re just getting started. If you’re serious, you’ll probably want to think about upgrading to something better in a few months.

Quality is not good enough

Soft and comfortable
but the skid resistance is not good.
Easy to get spots after using for minutes.

4Expert Score
Good quality but costly

Good quality but costly

4Expert Score
Comfy but rips easy

The mat was comfy and nice to exercise on, but it rips super easy. I would avoid if you have pets as if they walk on it, their nails will rip it immediately.
