How does this operate? Do you charge it ? Does it come with charger

Thanks for your questions.

Please plug in the machine and slide the switch to the auto mode. Then machine will be turned on and you could insert the paper to shred.

Will it shred cards?

Yes, it will shred credit cards and/or greeting cards.

How is it emptied?

Emptying is very easy. The top part has a handle that simply lifts off. I then use a large trash bag to remove contents.

How much wattage for this item to operate?

Ignore the previous answer… He obviously doesn’t understand the plug going into the wall is 120 volts, not watts. Per one of the product photos, this shredder is 120 volts and 1.7 amps. To get watts you multiply volts times amps. Therefore, this would be 204 watts.

Does it need to be oiled??

Yes routine oiling is a good part of the maintenance plan of most shredders

Can i oiling the blades with wd40? Puedo lubricar las cuchillas con wd40?

I bought the shredder and oil at the same time. It’s up to you or you can also google for and answer.

Do the shredder oil sale separately .

Yes you have to buy the oil separately, but you don’t need it right away unless you do a lot of shredding.

What type if oil needed is needed for shredder

Professional shredder oil is needed for lubricating the shredder cutter to help prevent the paper jam and prolong its service life.

Does it cut paper as small as confetti??

I have the bonsai 6 sheet micro-cut shredder and yes, the results after shredding looks just like confetti. If its high security your looking for, this shredder definitely does the job.

My office assist, kensington m 100s does not turn on. ;/off/reverse/ forward. The switches are refractory? What to do? Return? Amazon phone not worki

Try unplugging and then check the shredder for paper stuck in the teeth. Oleg back in and try again.

The shredder it’s not working

Plug it in. Turn slider to the on position. Fit paper into shredder and wait – sometimes there’s a short delay before it starts shredding. Also, make sure power cord has not come loose from back of shredder.

It is really a cross-cut shredder?

Yes, a cross cut.

Wanna find a shredder for home use on black friday, is it suitable?

The paper shredder is set for home and office use. I think this is suitable for you.

It says you don’t have to remove staples or clips????

I leave staples and ir does fine. I always take off paper clips no matter how small.

How long is cord?

The cord is about 5ft. Plenty long for most people i would think.

How big is the trash can? Finding a shredder in my room

10.5 inches wide
6 inches deep
12 inches tall

How do you keep the shredder from clogging up?

Never had mine clog up . Run clean paper threw it. I only
run maximum of 4 sheets of paper at a time never had any problems.

Can it shred fabric?

It’s a paper shredder. Fabric comes in all kinds of weights and weaves. I would not shred fabric with this because it might jam up.

My micro shredder has literally stopped working one year to the date i purchased it! Is it returnable? I didn’t hardly use it. Can i get a new one?

A. Ask amazon.
B. Did you get extended warranty? I think it was $7 for 4 years.
C. If you buy low price products, but extended warranty and sleep at night.
Dave@texas

Does this have a bad smell while using?

Mine did not have a bad smell. I was only shredding paper.

Perfect size and weight for residential use

My 12-sheet shredder just died one day. It was a heavy machine that sat atop a plastic basket and needed a good fit for the “actuating pin” to sit on this plastic receptacle bin. Over time, the weight of that shredder had cracked the bin and made everything unusable. No replacement for the bin available and superglue and duck tape just wasn’t working.

I considered a new shredder that had a pull out bin, but after analyzing how much use (including number of sheets to feed into the machine at one time), cost, and overall weight of the machine, i realized a lightweight shredder might meet my needs. Good decision on my part.

Excellent aspects:

it is very lightweight machine that has an excellent and comfortable folding handle to lift it off the included basket. I have serious arthritis in both wrists and most fingers, and i can lift this off without any issues at all. It also easily seats right back into the correct position without any problems when put back onto the receptacle bin.

It is pretty quiet when running.

It has a window that clearly tells you when the bin is getting full, ensuring that you do not overfill and jam the machine. When full, the bin is easy to lift and dump its shredded pieces into a larger trash bag. The pieces may get a little statically attached to the plastic bin, so try covering the opening of the bin with a trash bag before you invert the bin and then tap the aides of the bin to get all the shredded pieces into the trash bag. I still had to round up some “shred debris” that clung to the inside of basket or missed the bag…not big deal.

Price was awesome!

Average/neutral aspects:

my previous shredder had a lock out mechanism that let me ensure the shredder could not be accidentally turned on if the main selector switch was unintentionally moved to the “on” position. This machine does not have such a feature. It has 4 positions: fwd (on with continuous shredder wheels engaged regardless of whether something is sensed in the shredder slot), auto (power on, but shredder wheels not engaged unless something is sensed in the shredder slot), rev (shredder wheels in constant motion, but pushing things back out of the feeder slot), and off (which powers down the machine, red power light goes off). As there is no “guard switch” to prevent accidental activation, i simply unplugged it when i am not using it for a time and if any small children/pets are around.

It also has an overheat light if the motor os getting too hot from continuous or heavy load use.

It is not top heavy, but still can be tipped over if you move or bump against it. I have it freestanding on the floor between a similar sized trash can and the side of my desk. I have had no problems with it tipping or moving during use.

There is a credit card slot, and while the machine will “chew” these up, you can hear the machine slow and even see the credit card wobble as it is being shredded. Worked ok as i only shred a card or two annually.

I would not place more than 3-4 sheets of regular paper in at one time as you can hear the machine slowing to shred that amount. I am sure it can do more, but i decided to simply be cautious. The machine does shred as quickly as most residential use machines, however.

Note: the actual continuous run time on this machine is much better than advertised. I ran it for 10 minutes without any problems, although i was only inserting 1-2 sheets at a time, not the max they say you can at a time. No overheat light came one, albeit the top of the machine did become a little warm.

Overall, very happy with this machine. It will only get used every couple of weeks and then for only about 15-20 sheets of paper or other junk ail (credit card mailings, credit card receipts, etc…

Exactly what your looking for

Needed to shred certain papers and mail. Does exactly that. It’s small so it doesn’t stand out. Yes, it’s a tan loud when it’s shredding but that’s going to be most shredders. The automatic feature is nice. Great product without paying a lot like other products. I wouldn’t worry about the size unless your shredding multiple books at a time. The strength works just fine as well as the cut, it shreds just fine so you don’t have to worry about things still showing that you don’t want to show anymore.

Whoa! I got 'old tax return confetti!'

I soooo needed a shredder! We’e moving and i had so many years of old tax returns to get rid of. My social security number was on every page. I thought about one of those ink rollers, but no, that would have taken me countless days to ink out everything. This was my first shredder and i love it. I just ordered the cleaning sheets to keep it lubricated. This shredder is easy to use, pretty quiet and a quality machine. I wish i would have bought this sooner, there are so many things to shred.

Great little shredder

Purchased this to take care of all the junk mail and personal documents that have been sitting around since the last paper shredder died about a year ago. So far it has been working wonderfully. Other reviews have mentioned that it is noisy, there is a tiny bit of noise to it but its not horrible. When i used it the first time my room mate wasn’t sure if the noise was me using this shredder or if it was our downstairs neighbor using his weed trimmer. So far i haven’t had any problems with it over heating like others have commented on. But then again i am only using it until the bin gets full. When that happens i empty it and set it aside for a while and do some other things because we have a lot of junk that needs to be shredded. One thing i do love about this shredder is that it can shred up old expired credit cards were my old one didn’t have that ability. So no more worrying about that information falling into the wrong hands even if they are expired.

Great shredder with a handle

This shredder doesn’t seem as sturdy as shredders i’ve had in the past but the paper shredder works very well. I especially like the handle on the shredder mechanism. If you’ve used shredders in the past, you know the motor can be very heavy. At least it is when you get older and have frail hands. I keep this next to chair to use with anything having my name.
Would definitely recommend

Worked well untuil now

Ordered on 12/29/21 worked well. Except for a couple of dozen paper jams here and there. It’s 10/8/22 and when trying to shred it’s jamming every time. I’m hoping mfg will stand by their warranty. Will update

Good shredder for the price

This is a good little shredder for the price. I have used it a lot and so far it has held up great! It has not overheated or gotten jammed. I recommend!

Very nice product.

My mom loves this shredder. It’s not too heavey for her to move if she wants. She loves the handle, makes it easy to dump, into the trashcan.

This was a great buy and proved true to the description ad. Somewhat noisy, but otherwise does great.

Backlog or regular use?

This is my first cross-cut shredder having had the spaghetti type previously. I’m happy with the shredder. I know it’s limits and in my own limited use so far, it has never overheated. To be clear, overheating is not a bug, it’s a feature, meaning that many if not most shredders – including this one – have built in functionality (for example, a warning light or shutt off) to prevent inevitable overheating of the motor if the manufacturer’s feed capacity and operating times are not adhered to.
I had a backlog of shredding to do and perhaps should have purchased one with more capacity (this one has a 6 sheet limit commensurate presumably with what it’s motor can endure and still remain functional long term. You will hear it struggle if you feed it more than it can chew! Struggle is bad and will reduce the longevity of the unit). But i had to weigh my one time backlog use with my low regular daily usage (once the backlog is gone) so i chose the low capacity unit. It caused me to split my backlog into several sessions before it was done, but that’s ok for a one time deal. The chomping of 6 sheets max is probably faster than you can count 6 sheets off a pile and feed them in, but the constant feeding for the stipulated 4 minutes (before a 40 minute cooling down pause) made a decent dent in my backlog. The capacity of the included collection bin is quite small so if doing a marathon shred (bad analogy given the mandated 4 minutes up, 40 minutes down time), you’ll need larger recepticles or large paper bags if you’re going to toss everything in recycle. My last shedder head had the ability to be expanded to different sized bins beyond the one it came with. This one does not have that nice feature and is an exact fit for the small bin that it comes with. The bin itself has a small inspection window built in to one of its sides so that you can guage when you need to stop and empty but to be honest i didn’t find this much use and my visual trigger – and not a good one – was when the shredder unit separated from it’s bin base and started to rise once the paper being shredded pushed against that already through and in the bin.
All in all i’m happy with my purchase. Just know that depending on your backlog, if any, it will take several sessions to get through it. If you have moderate daily use of just a few sheets at a time, then you won’t face any delays and this shredder will likely meet your needs.
Hope you found this useful!

So far so good!

This little shredder hasn’t given me any problems. Although, they claim it shreds 6 pages at a time. It will also over heat if you are shredding a lot of thicker papers or 6 sheets.
Once the red overheated button comes on i’ve found it’s best to turn it off and empty it out. Basically, thick junk mail or card stock, will cause over heating. 3-4 sheets of printer paper, or notebook paper are fine. Index cards or light card stock, i’d stay with two at a time.

Small, decent shredder

Shredding performance is good, nice small cuts. When they say 6 sheets, they mean it. Seriously, don’t put more than that. Entire unit is very compact making it easy to move around to different areas and empty the bin. Overall a nice shredder for casual use.

Basic. Totally adequate!

Big sticker on the front that can’t be removed. Pictures shown here in the reviews don’t have that but mine does. Not a big deal. Just annoying. This shredder works perfectly fine for a home office. Basic, cheap , totally adequate shredder.

My new shredder.

The shredder was alot smaller than i thought it would be. If last a long time, it will be worth it.

Issue with paper

All in all it’s not a bad shredder. However, one issue i have with it is that you have to juggle the paper every time before it catches to shred.

Works great

A lil small but perfect for home use works perfectly love it’s shreds in tiny pieces

For the price, it is a good shredder

For my usage, which is usually just a couple times a week at most, it does it’s intended job. I only give it 4 stars instead of 5 because it is a little louder than expected. Also the feed is on the slow side. But like i said, for my usage it’s just fine.

4Expert Score
Good little shredder

This is a good little shredder. I bought it so i could shred sensitive documents and make the scraps into recycled paper. Not only does it shred my documents, it also shreds compact cardboard, cereal boxes, and cardstock. The reason this isn’t a five star review is that it has a tendency to overheat if it isn’t loaded *just right*. It’s a light duty shredder, but it doesn’t give any indication of overheating except a higher pitched noise when you shred something.

Overall, i like this machine enough to keep it and not complain. I don’t have a high volume of documentation to shred, so this machine fits my purposes well.

4Expert Score
Lightweight paper shredder

It shreds okay if you do just a little at a time.

Important information

Safety Information

When not in use please turn it back off and unplug it. Please do not shred labels or anything with glue or any sticky substance as this will lead to paper jams. Doing this will prolong the using time of machine.
