Brita™ Elite™ Water Filter, Advanced Carbon Core Technology™ Replacement Filter for Pitcher and Dispensers, Made Without BPA, Reduces 99% of Lead, 2 Count (Package May Vary)

Brita™ Elite™ Water Filter: Keep tap water healthier and tasting better longer with brita longlast pitcher replacement filters. Made with pleated filter technology for 3x longer life compared to 40 gallon filters. Longlast replacement filters reduce lead, asbestos, and cadmium impurities that can adversely affect your health over time (substances reduced may not be in all users’ water). Change the longlast filters every 120 gallons, about every 6 months for the average family, for best performance. The pull top cap on these filters makes insertion and removal easy. With activated carbon to reduce chlorine taste and odor, these filters deliver great-tasting water and maintain a healthy level of fluoride, an additive in water (applies to fluoridated municipal tap water). The fibrous matrix in the filter holds active ingredients in place so no black flecks appear in your water. One longlast filter can replace 900 standard 16.9 ounce water bottles.

Does it really do the trick?

The longlast filter slowed down a lot after 2 weeks of use. It basically now just filters at 1 drop of water every few seconds. Really slow. I have waited and watched it drip from the filter.

He did they fixed these filters? The ones they sell at the retail store drain way faster than the one in the video.

This is a simple issue folks! If you have lots of minerals or sediment in your water, the filter will begin to fill with the stuff that was in your water, and that will naturally slow down the flow of water through the filter over time. It’s that simple.

If the cheaper filters run water through them faster, then they may not be filtering as much out of the water as the elites do. I have used my brita and the elite filters exclusively for 2 years now, and it is our primary drinking and cooking water. I love the taste, and i wouldn’t trade my brita for any other system. And yes, we have very hard water in the rocky mountains where i live–29 grains per gallon, as reported by our utility.

Don’t criticize it for not lasting 6 months. That’s only an estimate based on ‘average’ water. If yours slows to a crawl after only 4 months, thank the brita filter for doing its job and order a new filter!!

Is the longlast filter compatible with the standard filter?

Hi there! Great question. Any filters that use our standard filters are absolutely compatible with our longlast filters. Val from the brita team

Can i use this in an older britta pitcher

I have an older ultramax filter and the longlast replacement filters that i just bought just float up. I’ve used brita for years, so i know how to seat the filter properly with the groove and then press down. As soon as the water starts to fill the dispenser, it pushes the filter up and out. Good luck. I now have to purchase an all-new dispenser. I think this is planned obsolescence by brita (owned by clorox). Their customer service claims i’m not doing it right.

I tried the longlast filter and it filtered the water in less then 15 seconds. Is this correct??

Initially, it may be correct. However, i also found if you don’t put the filter in tightly, the water does not actually filter but leaks through the side. You may want to watch it as it filters to see if it’s filtering through the filter or the side.

Which one is the newer model? The light blue or dark blue? The dark blue one failed in less than a month. Trying a light blue one now.

I use the dark blue filter it is the one that is good for six months. Make sure you get it in correct. I had problems for awhile. But my water comes out really good and we have bad water where i live.

Does this work with all brita pitchers?

Though i have not used it yet, the box does indicate it works w/all brita pitchers.

Why are the filters different in color? They are blue-green and not the royal blue i had before.

Thanks for reaching out to us, and we’re happy to answer your question. In addition to the change in color of our longlast filter, we’ve made recent improvements with longlast+ to improve the flow for faster filtration. This has one stream of water and drips around the sides when filtering. Is that normal?

Sounds like two possible problems going on at the same time. First, when you are fillng the pitcher tank, tilt it, so that the water from the tap isn’t directly hitting the top of the filter. When the water is allowed to directly hit the top of the filter, air bubbles are driven into the filter, causing an airlock that slows the filter. That might account for why only one stream of water is coming out the bottom. Second, be sure the filter is well seated in the pitcher, so there is a good seal all around the top. If not seated properly, water could seep around the filter and into the bottom of the pitcher. Let me say, i had problems with slow filtering until i read the tip about how to avoid driving air into the filter. After that…no problem! Just be sure the filter is nice and snug in the hole.

The item says “longlast” but the accompanying photos show “standard” ~ so which is it?

The white britas are standard since they each last 2 months. The blue ones are longlast and they last 6 months

These replacement filters a lot different from filter that came with the pitcher. They filter very fast, with odor, bad taste. What happened?

Yup, you probably got one of those bad batches. I also received those too. What i recomend is to order the regular white filters in a bigger multipack. They worked great after returning the long last filters twice. Just go to your orders and return item, you will get a full refund and a free shipping label, so you wont have to pay for return shipping. Remeber get the white brita filters!

So which is it? 6 months or 120 gallons? If i use it 5 times per day will it still last 6 months? Or if i only use it once will i need to toss it ?

All i can say is that the longlast filter stopped flowing after 6 weeks, whereas when i used the regular ones, i could go for at least two months. So… What’s the point in paying extra if it ends up in the landfill sooner? Now, having said this, i’ll add that i contacted brita and they send me a replacement. So, it may be that the first one i tried was defective. I’ve only been using in for two weeks now, so i can’t say for sure. But i appreciated they were willing to make it right.

Does it remove pfas?

Does not state on the box that it removes pfas………..sorry!!

Is this compatible with ob03 model brita ultramax? We placed order already. Just want to make sure

I do not know the model of my britain but it has been working well for 5 months.

I replaced the standard filter with the long-lasting one. Why the timer on the top still light up for the standard filter, not the long last filter?

Thanks for connecting with us, and we’re sorry to hear you’re having trouble resetting the light indicator on your pitcher. Please rest assured that your water is still being filtered. Resetting your filter change indicator may resolve the issue. Press firmly and hold the reset button for 6 seconds or until the green light next to longlast filter has blinked green three times by itself. While we hope this helps, please reach out to us at 800-242-7482 and provide reference number 220118-000746 if you have any additional questions. We look forward to speaking with you. Hoping they have fixed these — i tried one over a year ago, water dripped through so slowly, it was unusable. Has this problem been addressed?

It doesn’t drip that slow it moves at a decent speed

Where are they made?

Idk, probs china like everything else

Excellent product

I am so happy i found this at amazon. I have been wanted to get a lead filter for a long time. I read consumers report and they recommended getting a purr brand that filtered the lead out of the water. However, it would required buying the whole picture and filter, which was a lot more expensive than britta. Also, it did ‘not’ state anywhere on the purr specifications that it filtered out the lead in the water. Although, the britta specifically states that it does filter lead and other chemicals. I can slso tell the difference in the tast of the water which is an improvement. I am extremely satisfied with my purchase..

Long lasting water filter

Purchased this for my brita. Was looking for a filter that is long lasting and don’t have to purchase to fast. This brita elite defeats the purpose. It is long lasting and dont have to change it so frequently. You just change it twice a year. Every 6 months to be exact. Very satisfied with this purchase. Thank you!

These are the original filters from the 90s – high quality, works well.

When brita came out in the 90s, their filters cost about $8 each, filtered lead and harmful things, and lasted a good month or two.

Over the years, they appear to have snuck in cheap junk in the same white case, since bottled water is still $1 a gallon and they had to compete on price. The new filters last a few days or a week or two, don’t filter lead, and often fail and grow mold. For a price that is suspiciously unchanged since the 90s. Yes, the price of a white filter from brita has remained unchanged for almost 30 years! That should be a red flag that corners were cut.

Well, you get what you ( don’t ) pay for. Filters today of good ( original ) quality should be $12-$15 each purely based on inflation. Which these are – just now in a blue plastic container.

Bottom line – if you must have filtered water in your area, this will work as advertised. The white basic ones simply do not.

It filters.

The water at my place used to taste great 5-7 years ago. Since then it has gotten and continues to worsen in both taste and smell. I bought a brita pitcher and once the original filters were used up, i bought these. They do a great job taking out the stink and awful taste.

At the same time, the water has no flavor good or bad. It makes me wonder if there are any good minerals left in the water at all. Without minerals in the water, the water dilutes and flushes away the minerals in the body that we need to be healthy. While these minerals, vitamins and other nutrients need and can be replaced, that is an expensive and difficult process. The best sources are through diet, but that is already difficult and we can only eat so much in a sitting and or day.

There are water dispensers out there with filters filter systems out there that leave the good stuff behind leaving the water tasting fabulous, clean, refreshing, and satisfying. The satisfying because the good nutrients are still in the water.

These filters do last a long time. I go over 6 months regularly. But, i am only 1 person and i don’t drink nearly enough water.

The filter can float up out of place when filling the water reservoir if not securely inserted into place.

The filter will sometimes fall or pop out of place when pouring a glass of water. When this happens with the lid is on, the lid pops off with a lot of force causing big splashing and dumping of water. This happens even when it’s positioned correctly and checked to make sure it’s and secure. Sometimes this happened even when i’ve poured some other glasses from the same batch of added water before the mishap. The water mess can cause time consuming and frustrating cleanup. It can cause permanent and/or costly damage to items such as furniture, carpeting, clothing, and paper products including personal and professional photos, documents and books, etc. The spills can also cause cooking/baking processes to be interrupted and/or damaging to whatever you are making.

The filters aren’t cheap, but given how much longer they last than the standard filter, they have less environmental impact. When i first bought the pitcher, there were boxes for sale that had 4 or more filters in it. I haven’t seen those available in a while and the price per unit has gone up quite a bit on buying 1 or 2 packs. I wish they could make a filter out of stainless steel with a natural fibers and filtering substances, like charcoal, but not necessarily charcoal.

Recap: the product is a mixed bag.

Pros:
price: less than monthly filter replacement and other water filtering products.

Convenience: easier than monthly replacement. Less time spent buying.

Filter effectiveness: can get out the things in water that make it taste and smell bad. (results will vary depending on where you live, water pipe ages and materials the pipes are made of, (in your home, neighborhood, town, county), public water treatment plants, well water and water sources, polluting sources nearby, what is the water, etc.)

cons:

filtering: so effective the water ends up flushing out and/or diluting the minerals, vitamins, and other nutrients one needs for a healthy body.

Filter can float out of place when filling the reservoir.

Filter can and does sometimes fall or pop out of place which causes the pitcher lid to forcefully pop off, time consuming cleanup, damage to food products (and inadvertently cause damage the products used to cook and bake), at any time during and after the process, and can cause costly repairable damage and/or costly permanent damage to personal and professional, items from inexpensive to very expensive.

3) causes permanent environmental damage.

4) expensive to buy.

Excellent replacement for standard filters

I love the extended life (6 months) versus the standard filters 2 month lifespan. Fits my brita pitcher perfectly. Filtered water tastes as good or better than the standard filters. Only issue is occasional problems with drainage thru the filter when the pitcher is full which i’ve gotten past by only tapping the pitcher on the counter to clear any bubbles obstructing the filter.

Shorter and have to press down more firmly than with the original filters.

After reading reviews & q&a feature was sure these would fit the hot water machine i have but these are much shorter. Thought they were not filtering but then used more pressure to push them down once aligned correctly (used much more pressure than i ever had to on the white filters). It fit and filtered correctly! Hoping these make a difference in how many times the filter needs replacement.

Worth a try.

There is no flavor to water as such except that the color of water changes by a slight amount if the water is muddy. Haven’t used it for long till now so cant leave any comments on longevity but i believe this product can be less in price if not using this system for the quality of water.

Long-lasting brita water filter!

I purchased a three pack of long lasting brita water filters for the first time recently. I am going back to using the brita water system thanks to the encouragement of my son who uses the brita system daily. I like these filters because they are so long lasting. Water falls freely through the filter. It doesn’t take a very long time at all to filter a new pitcher of water. There is no after-taste in the newly filtered water. The reason i took away one star is two-fold: first of all this is a new type of system to me. The thought of using the same filter for such a long time before replacing it seems a little concerning. Secondly i wish there was a way to mark a general change date on the filter or on the pitcher. If you, like me, forget to note the date that you started using the water filter it’s a problem! It is my mistake but i think there needs to be a better way to note the filter replacement date. Other than that i have no problems with using this filter or with buying from this seller. My set of new long-lasting water filters came on time, the set was well packed, and the filters were priced competitively.
