Do you have to use right away or can you use it a day later?
I used it 2 days later. Big unsightly bites. I used it a few times, partly because i was new to the product. My daughter as well. No itch. It helped 2 bites heal faster out of 3 on me.
Will this work for chiggers?
People seem to be confusing ticks and chiggers. One of the biggest myths or misconceptions about chiggers is that they can burrow under your skin and drink your blood. This leads to the common treatment for chiggers of putting clear nail polish on chigger bites to suffocate the chiggers. Since chiggers don’t actually burrow under your skin, this ‘treatment’ is unnecessary. But chiggers don’t even really bite you in the traditional sense as a mosquito does. Instead, they attach themselves to your skin, inject saliva with digestive enzymes that help to break down your skin cells, which the chigger then drinks. It is these enzymes that cause the itchy rash. So yes this will be effective for chigger bites as it will remove the enzyes.

All of the reviews mention mosquito bites, does it also work for spider bites? Also, how soon after the bite does it need to be applied?
Hello david, yes! Bug bite thing works great on spider bites, but should not be used for brown recluse or black widow bites. It also works great for ants, bees, wasps, black flies, fleas & other biting insects. We recommend using the suction pump as soon as you notice a bite or sting to prevent the reaction from getting worse. However, bug bite thing can still be used days after a bite or sting. -bbt team
How do you use this to remove a bee’s stinger please?
Be careful removing the stinger and the attached venom sacs. Do not push on it(scrape) as that might inject more venom. Carefully remove stinger and then apply suction.
I can’t find the answer to the simple question– does it hurt?!!
If you use it correctly it does not hurt. Before i place it over the bite i move the handles down about half way. I press the cap very firmly on the skin and pull the handles up just enough to feel a little pressure. Then i push the handles back down before i take it off of the bite. Relief and no pain.
How many times can you reuse it?
So long as you clean the detachable cup part after each use, i’d say forever. It’s plastic so ‘forever’ isn’t, but it should be a long time.
I ordered a three pack and only received two what do i do?
Request refund because it arrived defective
Would this item melt in a car’s glove compartment in the summer?
Hello jed, bug bite thing contains nothing that can melt or expire making your glove compartment a perfect storage location! -bbt team
Where does it he venom go? Do you have to clean the product after using?
I’m not completely sure the venom/saliva is actually sucked above the skin. I haven’t seen anything on the skin or in the device.
I appears, however, that it’s sufficiently dissipated across the skin that the itch and inflammation is eradicated. I don’t care, actually – it works for me.

Is this a one time use product?
It is made of very durable plastic and can be washed and sanitized multiple times. I’ve owned mine for all of last year’s brutal mosquito season and i’ve just recently had to pull it out last week because the mosquitos are back in full force. I used to spend all day itching my bites, but after getting this product i have some measure of relief. As soon as i detect a bug bite i use the suction for 30 seconds and then will also apply (sometimes) a topical bug bite ointment of some type and that usually does the trick.

Does it bruise or leave a mark?
The suction can be strong at full strength and can leave a mark or bruise in sensitive areas or on sensitive skin. It’s best to try out the product slowly until you achieve your level of comfort and relief. You have complete control over the suction.
Is this product safe on children
Yes. Bug bite thing is safe to use on children. It does not contain any chemicals or creams- just suction.
I can’t get it to work using the smaller opening for bites. What am i doing wrong?
You have to hold it firmly against the skin over the bite, pull up quick to get suction while still holding it against the skin and then pull it away from your skin. I don’t know if that made sense but if i can’t get the smaller side to work i flip it around and use the larger opening. It took us a little practice to get it right at first.

Where does the venom go after it’s sucked out? Does the device need to be cleaned after each use?
There are other responses about the venom being dispersed, rather than sucked out. I wipe off the end on occasion, but it doesn’t really get dirty. We use it around the house, on camping and hiking trips, etc.
Will this work on poison ivy bumps.?
I doubt it since poison ivy is a sap like skin irritant rather than an under the skin poison mosquito bites.
I know it states the product is reusable, but you have the option to subscribe when buying….is there a limit on uses per tool?
It is reusable forever!!
I don’t know what the “subscribe when buying” means. I have seen this on other items i have bought.

I only received 2 not 3 tools as advertised. Has anyone received the correct amount as advertised?
Same. Only received 2 instead of 3
Can this be cleaned in the dishwasher?
You do not want to get the pump portion wet or it may hinder the suction power. The removable cap is the only thing that needs to be cleaned (only thing touching toxins or skin), and can be disinfected with warm soapy water or an alcohol wipe.
How big is the tip that you use for suction? I already have something that works but the opening is large so i can’t get bonier areas.
I just got out my measuring tape for this – the small tip is 1/4 inch but you can take that part off and turn it around to make it 3/4 inch if you need to cover a larger area.
I usually don’t notice a mosquito bite until the next day. Will it still be effective?
I used mine the next morning once. It helped but maybe not as much as it would have had i done it immediately after the bite happened. Still noticed a big difference.
