Do you have to use right away or can you use it a day later?

I used it 2 days later. Big unsightly bites. I used it a few times, partly because i was new to the product. My daughter as well. No itch. It helped 2 bites heal faster out of 3 on me.

Will this work for chiggers?

People seem to be confusing ticks and chiggers. One of the biggest myths or misconceptions about chiggers is that they can burrow under your skin and drink your blood. This leads to the common treatment for chiggers of putting clear nail polish on chigger bites to suffocate the chiggers. Since chiggers don’t actually burrow under your skin, this ‘treatment’ is unnecessary. But chiggers don’t even really bite you in the traditional sense as a mosquito does. Instead, they attach themselves to your skin, inject saliva with digestive enzymes that help to break down your skin cells, which the chigger then drinks. It is these enzymes that cause the itchy rash. So yes this will be effective for chigger bites as it will remove the enzyes.

All of the reviews mention mosquito bites, does it also work for spider bites? Also, how soon after the bite does it need to be applied?

Hello david, yes! Bug bite thing works great on spider bites, but should not be used for brown recluse or black widow bites. It also works great for ants, bees, wasps, black flies, fleas & other biting insects. We recommend using the suction pump as soon as you notice a bite or sting to prevent the reaction from getting worse. However, bug bite thing can still be used days after a bite or sting. -bbt team

How do you use this to remove a bee’s stinger please?

Be careful removing the stinger and the attached venom sacs. Do not push on it(scrape) as that might inject more venom. Carefully remove stinger and then apply suction.

I can’t find the answer to the simple question– does it hurt?!!

If you use it correctly it does not hurt. Before i place it over the bite i move the handles down about half way. I press the cap very firmly on the skin and pull the handles up just enough to feel a little pressure. Then i push the handles back down before i take it off of the bite. Relief and no pain.

How many times can you reuse it?

So long as you clean the detachable cup part after each use, i’d say forever. It’s plastic so ‘forever’ isn’t, but it should be a long time.

I ordered a three pack and only received two what do i do?

Request refund because it arrived defective

Would this item melt in a car’s glove compartment in the summer?

Hello jed, bug bite thing contains nothing that can melt or expire making your glove compartment a perfect storage location! -bbt team

Where does it he venom go? Do you have to clean the product after using?

I’m not completely sure the venom/saliva is actually sucked above the skin. I haven’t seen anything on the skin or in the device.
I appears, however, that it’s sufficiently dissipated across the skin that the itch and inflammation is eradicated. I don’t care, actually – it works for me.

Is this a one time use product?

It is made of very durable plastic and can be washed and sanitized multiple times. I’ve owned mine for all of last year’s brutal mosquito season and i’ve just recently had to pull it out last week because the mosquitos are back in full force. I used to spend all day itching my bites, but after getting this product i have some measure of relief. As soon as i detect a bug bite i use the suction for 30 seconds and then will also apply (sometimes) a topical bug bite ointment of some type and that usually does the trick.

Does it bruise or leave a mark?

The suction can be strong at full strength and can leave a mark or bruise in sensitive areas or on sensitive skin. It’s best to try out the product slowly until you achieve your level of comfort and relief. You have complete control over the suction.

Is this product safe on children

Yes. Bug bite thing is safe to use on children. It does not contain any chemicals or creams- just suction.

I can’t get it to work using the smaller opening for bites. What am i doing wrong?

You have to hold it firmly against the skin over the bite, pull up quick to get suction while still holding it against the skin and then pull it away from your skin. I don’t know if that made sense but if i can’t get the smaller side to work i flip it around and use the larger opening. It took us a little practice to get it right at first.

Where does the venom go after it’s sucked out? Does the device need to be cleaned after each use?

There are other responses about the venom being dispersed, rather than sucked out. I wipe off the end on occasion, but it doesn’t really get dirty. We use it around the house, on camping and hiking trips, etc.

Will this work on poison ivy bumps.?

I doubt it since poison ivy is a sap like skin irritant rather than an under the skin poison mosquito bites.

I know it states the product is reusable, but you have the option to subscribe when buying….is there a limit on uses per tool?

It is reusable forever!!
I don’t know what the “subscribe when buying” means. I have seen this on other items i have bought.

I only received 2 not 3 tools as advertised. Has anyone received the correct amount as advertised?

Same. Only received 2 instead of 3

Can this be cleaned in the dishwasher?

You do not want to get the pump portion wet or it may hinder the suction power. The removable cap is the only thing that needs to be cleaned (only thing touching toxins or skin), and can be disinfected with warm soapy water or an alcohol wipe.

How big is the tip that you use for suction? I already have something that works but the opening is large so i can’t get bonier areas.

I just got out my measuring tape for this – the small tip is 1/4 inch but you can take that part off and turn it around to make it 3/4 inch if you need to cover a larger area.

I usually don’t notice a mosquito bite until the next day. Will it still be effective?

I used mine the next morning once. It helped but maybe not as much as it would have had i done it immediately after the bite happened. Still noticed a big difference.

Wow! Does this crazy tool work great!

I am a mosquito magnet living in the mosquito capital of the country…florida. I’m often covered in bites all over my legs even though i wear off bug spray when i go outside to play tennis or run. At the moment i have more than 15 mosquito bites so i was able to give this tool a real test. It’s so easy to use and it really does have a strong suction. You can see clear fluid that is extracted after using the tool. It left a small suction circle on my skin for a few minutes, but then it disappeared.

I was amazed at how it could immediately remove the itchiness of these bites. This is a huge win since i’m also inclined to scratch all my bites, especially at night, which is terrible to do. Now i just use this tool 2-3x per bite and i’m feeling much better. Sometimes i’ll repeat the steps the next day if it starts itching again and it helps.

I keep this tool handy because it’s my new friend! It has replaced the benadryl gel that i had been using on my bites. This tool has made my life way less itchy. If i could give this 6-stars, i would.

I was skeptical but it worked

Okay this thing was super cheap so i was willing to try. Plus, i was desperate. Long story short my inner thigh was ate up by probably 6 or more mosquito bites. They swelled up huge and itched so badly. Plus it wasn’t the best place to be scratching…. Anyway, out of desperation i bought this. I was so skeptical but that thing worked!!!!!! Easy to use. It sucked out the mosquito venom or saliva or whatever. I bruised me badly but didn’t itch at all the next day. I had been using benadryl gel that didn’t help at all. One use out of this device…. Flattened out the bites and stopped itching. They were gone quicker than i’ve ever had! Don’t use on your neck or face…. I’m sure it will look like a fun night in high school with your boyfriend… Not cute. My thigh had 6 hickeys

These seriously work

I’ve had one for a few years now and it has never disappointed me. Recently, i took it on vacation with my in-laws and pulled it out on a few occasions. Once when my sister in law was scratching a mosquito bite, then again when my
mil had a spider bite, and once more when my nieces got stuck by some small cacti. It didn’t pull the prickles out of the skin, but it did pull some of the deeper ones to the surface so we could take them out. The mosquito bite and spider bite were better instantly and now they’re all asking for their own for christmas.

How do more people not know about this.

I can’t believe i didn’t know about this. We recently moved from co to nc and omg (the humidity and) bugs. I forgot what hell mosquito bites are. I am the shield for people around me. I use the ‘thing’ pretty much every day.

It helps with immediate bites and bites that flare up days later. It helps with bites that still itch a couple hours after the first suction. It severely helped with a spider bite on my neck. I typically suction a bad bite two or three times. I use it at home, in the car or on the go. There’s a small hole in one of the suction ‘handles’ for a string or thin lanyard, or it fits in my pocket. This has saved me from so many scars i couldn’t count if i tried. Bought a second to keep in the car. Can’t recommend this enough.

*note: we read some reviews before purchasing and we do not use this on the face.

Good bug bite tool

This tool has definitely helped me with my bug bites. I found it works best if you use it on a bug bite you haven’t scratched yet. But even if you have scratched it still provides some relief.

I haven’t used it on my face to know if it will leave a bruise/hickey type mark but it does provide a good amount of suction so i imagine it would.

It has left marks on my legs/arms a few times (when used repeatedly in the same spot) but it goes away in a few days.

It works!

Use this like the directions indicate – holding with tight suction for at least 30 seconds and it truly works. No itching after that and the redness & swelling from mosquito bites goes away quickly. It is sometime hard to get a suction in some areas such as the top of your hands, fingers, on bony areas, but you can turn the suction part over to make it work in a smaller area & sometimes that’s all it takes. I kept two for myself & carry one with me at all times. Anything that keeps me from itching is my friend! Not sure how much i paid for this on amazon, but they carry them in walmart where they have benedryl and in the garden area for $9.99….so hopefully amazon is ripping this off like they did the j&j lotion – green tube repels mosquitos wonderfully – but it’s $4.86 at walmart and the tube i got on amazon was $15.07 – identical product.

I can’t believe it works, but it does

My daughter and i are eaten alive my mosquitos; she reacts very badly to the bites. I bought this just hoping it would help and after she (a baby) got over the fact that i was making her hold still for a second, it so easy to use. I swear it takes the allergic reaction right away. She and i both still get red dots but nothing like the puffy, itchy, swollen nightmare of before. If you are a mosquito victim you want this thing. So easy, so worth it.

This thing is amazing for itchy bug bites

A family member had one of these and used it on some bug bites i got while i was at their house. It worked so well that i decided to buy one for myself. The instructions state best results are when used right after you notice the bug bite, but i’ve used it a day or two afterwards and it still helps quite a bit for relief from itching. I would highly recommend this for anyone that lives in an area where there are a lot of mosquitos or other insects that leave itchy bites.

Miracle tool. Get more than one!!

I was just stung on the thumb by a wasp i carried into the house accidentally on my shirt today. He got me good too. I remembered i had just gotten this little tool after my husband was stung 3 times a couple weeks ago. I tore the package open and my husband helped me with the suction . I cannot believe how awesome this is! We repeated suctioning the sting three times til it stopped stinging. You could see the poison coming out!! I’m getting a few more to have them in the garage and truck!!!! I recommend this highly…especially for kids…the instant relief is a miracle

Need to own for outdoor/summer months!

My husband and i moved into a new home next to a nature preserve dec. 2021. We did not learn of the crazy mosquito issues in our neighborhood until my husbands first mow of the season where we promptly ordered this little tool. It is used frequently in our house and if used right after coming in with mosquito bites, it does make them feel 10x better. I am not sure how you can tell if it is sucking anything out of them but somehow this little guy does the trick! A must have in the summer especially if you have kids!

They work!

The product does what they say it does. I have used my bug bite thing just a few times so far for mosquito bites this last summer. All i can say is that i am glad i took the chance and purchased it. I hear that you can even address splinters with it. I will most likely get another one or two so i can have them at the ready in different locations. It is simple to use and certainly has effective suction. Don’t use on neck if you don’t want a hickey.

Read this review!

First off, yes i purchased this on my own. I’ve actually purchased several of these. Are they a miracle? Yes and no. Here’s the thing..it works best if you use it right after you’ve been bitten. I am horribly allergic to mosquito bites. I will swell up at times up to the size of a silver dollar. My bites will itch terrible for days and most times i will end up scratching until they bleed. I carry my bug bite thing with me any time i go outside. I’d say 85% of the time if i get it right away i get instant relief. Sometimes especially if i don’t use it right away i may have to use the bbt 2-3 times before it works. The thing is, it usually almost always works for (with the exception of places that don’t have enough padding to allow for suction such as ankles, elbows, fingers etc). None of the itch creams have ever worked for me and this is literally the only thing that provides relief for me when i get mosquito bites. If you’re on the fence about it, give it a try if you’re like me and find yourself scratching constantly it may just be what you need.

Not perfect, but does help!

The suction is as strong as you choose. My daughter has “skeeter syndrome” and is slightly allergic to mosquitoes saliva. I purchased this hoping to pull the saliva out quickly to prevent reactions, however, she still reacts pretty bad.
However, we quickly used this when my son was stung by a wasp and i truly believe it helped him! The wasp came at him fast and the stinger went deep. We used this within a minute and we could see it pulled out blood and hopefully venom as well!

Works

I am waiting for a mosquito bite. But seems to work on the little bites i have had. I’m allergic to mosquitoes so if it works on one of those i will be back and raving.

I was skeptical at first …

I bought this for my wife, who really struggles with mosquito bites. (i myself do not, despite spending a lot of time in the woods.) i admit i was skeptical. But she has used it a few times now, and swears it works like a dream to remove the venom and minimize the effect of the bites (to which she was very sensitive), if applied according to instructions. So my philosophy is, give it a try and see if it works! (if i ever get a bite, i’ll do the same!)

Worked on a wasp sting!

My 3 year old got his first wasp/hornet sting over the weekend (definitely wasn’t a bee) and he had immediate pain and even some bleeding. I had bought this previously but had never used it. I immediately placed it over the sting and held the suction for about 15 seconds. He went down for a nap and woke up without any welt or residual pain afterwards. I would say this works! We did try it on mosquito bites and i didn’t see that it really helped with the itching but i will be trying it again.

I wish that it locked under suction.

It works, unfortunately my plastic – – loving bassett hound chewed the little reducing washer into nothingness. I wish that when you pulled the handle back to apply suction, that there was a locking notch at the top,

Kinda works.

It works if you get the bite right away. Otherwise it doesn’t work. Don’t use on your face, my 10 year old used it on his face and looked like a hickey

4Expert Score
I think it works

It does feel better when i use it after a bite. It could be bc its another form of itching it. I think the itch subsides enough but its hard to tell when the next day the area is still a bit itchy. I will say it does decrease the time the bite is there, but thats it.

4Expert Score
Works some of the time.

I have used this several times this summer and for whatever reason, sometimes it seems to work like a miracle and sometimes it doesn’t seem to work at all. I am not sure if it is the type of bite, or if it has more do do with how quickly you use it after you get bit. I would buy it again because it has worked for a couple of mosquitoes bites:)
