If the filter is not used for a while and is still wet on the inside will it go bad from lack of use between trips?
These filters are traps and bacteria will breed fast in a warm, dark and damp environment. Even the holding water tank, must be disenfected during storage. I have never seen this type of filter clear or transparent too give the user some idea of its condition.
Will this eliminate theplastic taste from my new hose?
It worked for me. You’ll get the best results when the filter is installed on the camper side of the hose, rather than the spigot side.
Another commenter stated doubt that the filter does anything at all. Last summer i moved to a town with the most disgusting smelling water i’ve ever encountered – like really strong waterbed chemicals plus the inside of a hot dumpster. The smell even lingered in my clean, dried and fabric softenered laundry. Idk how the people of the town weren’t rioting over it. This filter immediately and completely removed all the unpleasantness. It must be doing at least some of what it claims! If i’d stayed there longer than 4 months, i absolutely would have figured out how to install this filter at the washing machine in the main house.
If there’s a chance you’ll ever be staying in fairland, oklahoma, do yourself a favor and keep one of these filters on hand.

How is this installed? Is it installed inside the rv ‘permanently’ or is it used at the the end of the garden hose only when filling the rv?
On the outside, either at the source for your water (that is where i have it) or where the hose connects to the camper. In either case, on the first time you use the filter, do not attach the water line to the camper until after you run some water through the filter to remove the carbon . Takes about a minute or 2. The water from this filter is as good as bottled water.

Could this be used as a long-term, filter for an outdoor drinking fountain?
This filter is good for up to 500 gallons. If you have any questions please contact us at 800.334.2004.
How long does this filter last?
We have very hard water here, and the filter lasts 4-6 months with full-time use for one person; the time of changing the filter varies with my work schedule and time of year (more showers in the heat of southern california; cooking more at home when i am not working); i tend to change it more often than most (every three to four months) because i am a full-time rv’er and do not want the challenge of replacing mineral-clogged hoses in my rv. The filter i am using now has been in operation six months…thanks for the reminder to change it!!

Can i hook this up to a regular standard water hose.. To fill up water containers?
I hook it up to a regular hose
Is this what i need to attach to the water source offered by the campground when we are tent camping? Do i need other items with it?
Yes this is what i use for my little trailer and it works great. I also use it and attach it directly to the water source at a campground where there are no hook ups for the camper and i just have to fill my larger containers. And no, there is nothing else you will need .
Always get white cloudy water when i use it in my rv tt. I know it’s just air but is there anyway to avoid it?
This is a result of turbulence in the hose. No real way to fix it other than slowing down the water flow to reduce.
Can you run hot water through this filter?
I don’t see why not as it is a filter, but keep in mind it is designed as an inline cold water filter from supply source to rv through a hose. It removes impurities. So, if water has been through a hot water heater before the filter kind of seems like a moot point as impurities are in the heater.
For how many gallons last this filter?
I am not sure how many gallons or how to really measure gallons used. We replace our filters every 6 months or less based on use.
Do these go bad? How long do they last?
As stated in the description… Lays an average of 3 months. How long each lasts depends on the type of water you are filtering. We use ours with any tap water available at campsites and a single filter usually lasts a season for us
Has anyone used this for home brewing?
No i haven’t. But, if you mean to filter the water going in, i would think you would want one of those 3 stage water purifiers, if you mean filtering on the way out, i don’t think it has enough capacity to filter out the hops; it will fill up and clog. Best of luck. And make great beer.
How many gallons of water will this clean ?
10,000 gallons.
Does this unit filter iron as well? Or at least minimize it?
Yes, but no portable filter is going to last very long …
Does this help with very hard water
If you are referring to iron, it will for a short time. #52141 will be the better filter system to help out with the iron in the water.
Does this filter rust? Need to keep rust from my pool.
Rust needs a water sofner with rust out salt
Does this have a replaceable cartridge or do i have to buy the whole filter each it needs to be changed?
Please don’t waste your money. If you read the reviews, with little pressure on them they will bust, leaving you with a high water bill. Mine exploded with just 45 psi on it. It is only a 50 micron filter. Which didn’t change my tds any. However,to answer your question, you replace the entire thing.
Does it take the hose flavor out of water
I use a hose made for drinking water with the filter and i get no hose taste.
Does it come with end-caps for storage?
I don’t recall any caps. Sometimes i would just leave it attached to the drinking water hose. There is also a 5 or 6 inch piece of water hose that comes with it that attaches to the end opposite the water hose.
How long is this filter rated for?gallons??
3 months of normal water usage
