How can this be mounted to a 4 x 4 post outside?
It’s designed to be wall mounted and is too easily bent to mount directly to a post, but would do fine if you devise a back board to mount it on. A fairly easy solution would would be to use horizontally assembled pieces of (treated) 1×4 to provide a surface, held in place by three vertical boards on the back, one centered to line up with the post. You could assemble with galvanized nails, but i would use decking screws or stainless steel screws for longevity. If you want a rustic touch to the back board, just gouge out the ends of the horizontal boards a bit. If you don’t want to use paint, you can ‘age’ the boards by using a wash made by soaking fine grade steel wool in vinegar overnight.

The measurements the manufacturer supplies are pretty accurate. Mine (w) measure 18′ wide and 15-1/4′ high with 4 nicely located pre-drilled holes for mounting on a flat surface. My exterior is stucco. I used a masonry bit to drill the holes and installed with 4 stainless steel screws i got for a local hardware store (which i first spray painted black).

Can you mount this to siding without drilling holes?
It’s too heavy to hang by command strips you can lean it against some thing. The metal work is absolutely beautiful!

How is this hung? I bought the 18′ size for my front door. It seems too heavy for velcro strips.
I put a few 3m velcro strips on the back and to my wall which worked fine. Not sure if it will work as well on a front door.

It looks like about 1/16 of an inch, it is bendable, but it still looks good on the side of the house…

It definitely doesn’t weight 6 pounds for sure . It’s really thin light weight steel ! The hole is nail size but we used command strips for heavy duty paintings . Let me also say that i’m buying another for my sister! This is simply a gorgeous piece of art ! Well worth the money !
