Looking for specific info?

Silly question but what is the difference between bypass pruners and those not labeled ‘bypass’… I see mixed results on amazon and fiskar.

By-pass are for clean cuts on live plants, anvil used on dead limb pruning

Is this item made in usa?

Amazon’s product description (as of 2014/11) now states: ‘the 9109 bypass pruner is made in china.’ along with: ‘fiskars is a global company with manufacturing locations all over the world, including several places in the us. Many of fiskars’ blades are stainless steel. The blade on the 9109 is a coated, high carbon steel blade.’ seems like this model has seen significant cost-cutting over the years, maybe too much…

How thick the branches you can cut?

You can cut over an inch diameter my rotating the cutter with open jaws around the branch. The sharp cutting blade will slice through the branch.

I would like these shears for cutting the hard dorsal, pectoral and tail fins off of fresh whole fish like salmon, bass, trout etc? Will it work well?

I would say it will work on some fish. Smaller fish such as bass and trout should work well but large fish with tougher fins might be a struggle. Also, these aren’t stainless steel so rust could be a problem.

How does this product have 4.5 stars when there are so many 1 star, very detailed reviews.can i know longer trust amazon ratings and ‘amazon choice’?

There are 291 one star reviews. There are at least 5000 reviews altogether. 291 is slightly less than 6% of 5000. That’s why it has 4.5 stars.

How do i release the spring or safety lock on these shears so i can open my shears fully?, these are similiar shears by the same company

You may have to squeeze the handles together as you work the catch. Mine were very hard to open, and still are hard to get closed and locked. I just leave them open. Be careful~ wear gloves to protect your fingers / hands when you try this. May even take some light taps with a suitable piece of wood, etc.

Why does the shipping take so long on these? I ordered this prime and it’s taking six weeks. It says shipped by amazon.

Six weeks means it’s shipped by china post, which we subsidize because it pretends to be a developing country. That has to stop.

Do these have a lock to keep them closed when not in use?

Yes. In the image you can see an orange round circle. That is the piece that slides to lock them closed.

How long are the blades?

See 5 second video for measurement along side a ruler.

Why does the item description say this is 10.75” long? Other description says 5.5”.

I would think the ‘overall’ length is 10.75′ and the blade is 5.5′ . I will also add it’s a great pruning shear.

Is there a hole in the handle? I like to attach a bright ribbon to all of my tools so that i can find them easily when i put them down.

No hole on the handle

Are they made in america?

No made in china

Can you show me online from amazon the fiskars pruners no. Ea 1016?

I love them. Easy to use!

Made in

Made in china

What kind of warranty does this come with?

Exceptional resolution from amazon

I had a lot of hopes for this product. But within a few uses the rubber grip has come off. Who do i contact for a replacement?

Contact fiskars. They have a lifetime guarantee on most of their products.

How many points are these

Nice shears but they wouldn’t reopen after each cut. It took effort to reopen them to make the next cut.

Can little old ladies with short stubby fingers ues them or are they made for men with a wide handbreadth?

We do not recommend for little old ladies.

Where are these manufacturered?

I believe all fiskars products are manufactured in china.

I ordered this 3 months ago and it still hasn’t arrived and the seller has not responded x3 now

Mine came quickly. I would file a claim. Did you use paypal?

These are the pruners you are looking for.

After my great experience with these pruners little brother there was no choice when i went looking for something to cut through the late summer tomato branches.

These glided right through. They also did quick work on clumps of grass. My yard is too small for a lawn mower, so i am the guy cutting his grass with a pruner :).

As i mentioned in my other fiskars pruner review.
If you need a garden tool and fiskars has what you are looking for, just buy it.

They last forever

I lost my fiskar bypass pruners. Maybe they’ll show up next spring, but i was lost without them. Had them for at least 15 years, lubricated, sharpened and abused them on occasion. So, i bought the same model to replace them. I looked at the other ones with soft grip handles, etc. I have arthritis in my hands, and have never had a problem with these, so went with tried and true. They didn’t seem like the spring worked well when i first tried them, but i just turned the nut a bit and voila! Perfect. Back to trimming and pruning!

Good shears

I’m an average gardener, but i do take care of several properties, and my tools get a lot of use. I take good care of them, and expect them to last, and to be good at what they do. I’ve had these for only a week or so, but we’re starting off on good terms. They’re sharp, and comfortable in the hand.

Lived up to expectation of fiskar’s

I ordered this clipper one afternoon as mine had just broken. When i looked online it said it could be delivered in a couple of hrs., and came with another clipper. So, i actually ordered it because i needed it quickly which was my goal and i love both of them.

5Expert Score
A great product!

I’ve been buying fiskars for ages and it hasn’t disappointed! I get a lot of use out of each one and love that they are not too expensive to replace when they finally wear out. Easy to hold, easy to clean. I would definitely recommend this product.

These are super

I have 85 roses…use another very popular brand…got these…much better. I’m really impressed with effectiveness and quality…in fact, bought another pair.

Just what i expected.

I like fiskar products.
They have very good quality as good as any other maker of garden tools and the price is always better.
I have other fiskar products and this is my second clipper. I like the orange color on these tools to make them easy to find if you leave them around the yard or in a gardening basket. However i did manage to lose the first one but i still think it will turn up and all the brush i have thrown into the back of my yard

Sharp

Love these. Good price and they are super sharp and cut with ease! Also like that they have a lock

5Expert Score
Great versatile shears

Great shears for pruning small bushes. Easy to handle.

5Expert Score
Sharp and sturdy

I always like fiskars products. These pruners are easy for me to hold. I use them for pruning my garden plants. They are sharp and make nice clean cuts. They seem sturdy and are easy to lock, i don’t worry about them coming unlocked to easily, but they are still easy enough for me to maneuver to do a one-handed unlock.

4Expert Score
They work

I had a pair that a family member has ruined by oversharpening through the years. They arrived quickly and yes, it locks/unlocks easily. Time will tell how good they are. I have been using them to deadhead flowers, prune forsythia canes, and my roses. I did notice metal shavings flaking off the edge of the larger blade. No shock-absorbing pad, no precision adjustments. They work well for hands equipped with opposable thumbs so i guess they are ergo dynamic. Unless, you were born as a human, but identify as a cat with paws.

4Expert Score
Sharp, cuts well. Could be more comfortable to hold.

Sharp, cuts well. Could be more comfortable to hold. After about 30 minutes of use i had to switch hands due to blisters about to form on my dominant hand.

Having owned a different pair before, i recommend the gonicc 8′ professional premium titanium bypass pruning shears (gpps-1003) over the fiskars ones due to their comfort.

4Expert Score
Great tools for gardening

Use these on a regular basis to cleanup stems and small branches in the garden

4Expert Score
Get the job done

These are good no frills clippers. They get the job done. The locking mechanism is clunky and the handle is moderately comfortable. These are good for occasional seasonal use, but i might consider something different for more frequent use.

4Expert Score
Used there for years

We repeat buying this particular model over the last ten years or so. It has good blades and ergonomic handles. Blade locking needs to be a little stronger. It breaks often.

4Expert Score
Not effective!

It does not cut through the entire way. Not effective…

Good but doesn’t cut well

It works fine. I need to sharpen the blades but for the most part it’s great. Easy to hold and the locking mechanism is good.

4Expert Score
Not ergonomic

Hard to use with rheumatoid hands

Good value

Works great
