Hamilton Beach Food Processor & Vegetable Chopper for Slicing: With the hamilton beach bowl scraper food processor, there’s no need to stop and remove the lid to dislodge food from the side of the bowl. The built-in scraper does the work for you, even while the processor is on for continuous processing. Kitchen tips: for a more uniform consistency, start with pieces of food that are similar in size. Cut food into 1-inch (2.5-cm) pieces before processing with the chopping/mixing blade and leave room in the bowl for the food to be tossed around. When chopping foods, pulsing on and off will produce the best results. Operating time will depend on the quantity of food being processed. Most foods can be sliced, chopped, or shredded in seconds. To slice or shred cheese, use firm cheeses like cheddar or swiss that have been chilled for at least 30 minutes. Soft cheese like mozzarella must be placed in the freezer for 30 minutes prior to processing to ensure it is firm enough for shredding. All removable parts are top rack dishwasher safe.

What are hamilton beach food processor & vegetable chopper for slicing features?

  • Large feed chute: can fit large foods like a whole block of cheese for quick, easy processing and less prep time

Process cookies like oreos for dessert crusts

I’d rather process vanilla cookies to make bourbon balls. =d

Will this chop and grind dates? I have to hold the lid on the food processor i currently have because the dates form a really strong ball. Thanks!!

Yes chops them perfectly! Make sure they’re are soft and if not then soak them in water for about 10-30 mins. If you want to be more careful then cut the dates in half before you put them in the processor.

Does this come with multiple blades ? If so, can you tell me what type ie: shred, slice etc. Thankyou

This comes with two blades. One is a knife blade and the other is a disk blade that has grating holes and also a shredding side on the same disk. I’ve only used the knife blade so far because i bought the processor to make almond butter which it does very well.

Can you use this to make pureed baby food?

I always used an emersion blender (sp?) for the fastest results making baby food….used it through 2 children and loved it!!!!!zap zap, then its done, fast clean up along with fast puree for the babies!!!! Alot easier to use and clean then having to use a bigger food processor…but this food processor i love…

Does it crack corn or wheat

Lol @ jimmy crack corn…

Can the lid be turned upside down to put the chute inside the bowl for storage?

Yes.however, the srapper should be put over the motor-rod, so that the upside-down lid, partially closes with
the chute cap inside.good luck!

Does it come with the guacamole?

Get real josh

I need a processor that can regularly blend hard nuts into a totally smooth cream and rock hard frozen bananas into ice cream. Can this handle it?

Ok, i had some rock-solid frozen bananas that i’ve prepared to try a dog ice cream recipe, so i’ve just tried it for you. The hardest part was getting the frozen banana slices out of my pyrex. The food processor made the frozen bananas into icy powders first, and with more processing, the texture turned into very creamy ice cream, and taste just like real ice cream! Added a scoop of peanut butter and my dogs and i are enjoying it right now. Love the processor.

Is it possible to make finely grained almond flour?

Yes

I just had stomach surgery so i need something that will puree meat, soups, fruits and veggues so when im able to eat. Will this do the job?

I’ve only used this to puree veggies so far and it seems to do a great job in getting them nice and broken down into itty bitty tiny pieces. I don’t know how finely pureed you need it to be but i think this would work well for you. Alternatively, you could also look into a juicer which in my experience, grinds up the fiber/bulk even more finely.

How much liquid will it hold? I read the larger model’s center of the bowl is only 1.5 inches high. I need to to puree large batches of soup.

This is a fairly small unit, not a mini, but i don’t think it would be useful for mass production. I don’t see in the book an maximum amount for liquid, but they say two to three cups of vegetables, .7 lbs of meat, 10 cups of crackers, and between 5 and 8 ounces of cheese depending on the variety.

Are all of the plastic parts bpa-free?

People, bpa-free is a meaningless term. It only means that the plastic is most likely bps plastic, which is equally a health concern.

Can i use it without the scraper? I don’t like the plastic part although it looks useful.

Eliot: i am pretty sure you can remove the scraper, because as far as i recall, the scraper is a separate part. However, please be sure to depend on any other answers you receive to this question, as my daughter now has this food processor, and it’s been a good two months since i used it.

Can you get a dough blade for this?

They do not show a dough blade as an option on their website so i would say no. I make a lot of bread and i think this processor would be way to fast for dough. I like the dough hook on the kitchen aid mixer (kitchenaid kv25goxob) that is an amazing tool…

Does it have enough power?

It is very powerful. Fast and really well built. I was surprised and did not expect this quality for the low price. So far it’s been one of my better buys and i would like to add, the ten cup size is just right for me.

Is there a safety lock on the plunger in the lid? My last i couldn’t do anything taller than 3 inches because it had to be latched in

I cannot recall any safety lock feature on the plunger. I would advise that this product is really only good for vegetables. Do not try dough or anything too heavy as mine started to smoke from the bottom and no longer worked. For a really versatile food processor, i guess you get what you pay for. Better to save your pennies and invest in something that is higher quality than this flimsy piece is.

Does it have a side shute

Don’t know what you mean by ‘side shute’… It has the insert (see tallest portion of machine) where you gradually insert food to be sliced or pulverized. Side shutes are usually a separate attachment on kitchenaid mixers for gradually inserting flour, aren’t they?

Will it mix bread dough

Not designed for this. Would not recommend it.

Does it chop vegetables into very small pieces? How about nuts?

Hey sara. So far i’ve used the slicer attachment (it’s included) to cut thin potatoes (my scalloped potatoes came out great). I also used the grater (same attachment as the slicer, just the other side) and shredded carrots as well as cheese. I have chopped nuts with no problem either. For the price, you’re getting a great deal. I’ve used more expensive food processors and this one is doing the job. I have more expensive kitchen appliances and this one has been my ‘go to.’ i hope that helps.

Can you get a replacement bowl?

Hello, i would not know if the bowl can easily be replaced. I suggest you to contact hamilton beach company at 1-800-851-8900. They’ll be delighted to answer that question for you. The bowl is not made of glass. The bowl is made of a very strong plastic. I used it numerous times and it’s great. I have other hamilton beach products that i used and it’s the best. Can’t complain.

Works great!

I absolutely love this food processor! It’s so easy to use and does a fantastic job! I have been w/o one for over a year and now don’t know how i lived w/o one. If you are on the fence jump and get this one. The suction cups help it to stay in place and the scraper is ideal. The pulse feature is great too! It’s perfect!

Simple, powerful, does the job

I had a fancy cuisineart for several years, but had to replace it as the locking mechanism failed and i couldn’t replace it. Bought another one at costco that just ended up being too big/too many parts.

Found this one and it’s perfect for me. The unit itself is sturdy (suction cups have no trouble gripping my wooden countertop) and light; i can put it back on its shelf and get it out easily. The 2 cutting blades provided have covered every need i’ve had for a food processor. It’s also easy to use- i find i’m using it far more than any processor i’ve had before because i don’t dread taking it apart/putting it together/cleaning it.

Highly recommend this one!

Great quality

I used this product for making cheese cake and it turned out amazing. It is also is highly durable and easy to use and clean.

Great for the price

I purchased one of these about 6 years ago, thinking if i use it often i’d buy a better (more expensive) one. But it held up for a long time, and when it broke (my fault… Next time i make protein balls i will definitely pit the dates first!) i bought another, same brand, only the new one has a side scraper feature which i’m loving. I’m also loving that my old canister and blades fit the new base, so i can make two things before washing the parts. In the summer, when i preserve multiple types of garden produce in a day, that’s going to be so handy. And, i’ve gotta say, in spite of the fact that i processed dates and their pits in there, the canister and blades all held up fine. It was just the pits jamming the blades so they couldn’t spin at all that burned out the motor.

Good solid food processor

I don’t use a food processor as often but this does really well for my needs.

Works but not for liquids

If you plan to make a paste like hummus, pesto, that sort of thing its fine.
If you plan to make mexican mole or smoothies (lots of liquid) it will splatter all over the place (extremely messy). When you add things into the container, it actually lifts the blade up, which is very annoying, and you have to be holding the blade down while adding the contents, otherwise the lids and scrapper won’t fit together. Therefore won’t close, and won’t start due to safety features.

There is a huge gap of space between the container and where the blade meets( in the center under the blade), the container ‘seems’ like it can hold a lot of content, even has a limit line at the very top, but when you remove the blade, you’ll see the container is actually having the center of it very mid way, so liquid is not a great idea. Anything liquid will splatter all over the place so be careful.

Pros:
price. (beats the better $300 dollar ones if you don’t care for liquidy stuff)
has a safety lock and won’t start unless lid is fully closed.
Has suction cups under to stabilize it.
Comes with other type of blade for vegetables.
Blends really well.

Cons:
can’t handle liquids without splattering all over the place.
Electric cord is annoyingly very, very, short. Only enough to be placed right next to kitchen counter wall outlet.
Plastic thing to push vegetables in through top cover kinda just sits in it, and you need to have it in to be considered closed, so the blending doesn’t escape. I guess its a bad safety feature.

So far so good!

So far so good! I have just finished making salsa and spaghetti sauce and it and ot worked great! Durability and life expectancy has yet to be tested. Hoping for at least 5 years but 10 would be better.

Works but it's louder than a jet engine!

It works for the price point but man is it loud!! Like scare the neighbors dogs loud!

4Expert Score
Easy to use, easy to store, easy to stir, dishwasher safe

The bowl scraper is a great feature since you don’t have to remove the the top to scrape food stuck to the sides of the bowl with a hand spatula, you just turn a knob on the top of the lid. I made gazpacho with it and it worked well. A few pieces had to be hand trimmed to resemble the batch. All parts are dishwasher safe and all parts store in efficient manner taking up less space in cabinet. I recommend this model.

Got my money’s worth

First, i have to say, i mostly used this for making nut butters, peanut and cashew primarily. Had it for two years and just crapped out on me today. I didn’t take off a star for that because i knew this little beauty wasn’t designed for that. I did something pretty stupid with this last batch and made sunflower butter and tried to sweeten it with raisins… My own brilliant idea. The flavors go together really well but hear me when i say that raisins should not go in a warm food processor to be made into paste. User error—duh! That said, i was more than pleasantly surprised to find that it handled planters deluxe cashews beautifully—even allowing 30-40 minutes on the highest speed and getting the machine hot to help break down the oils to liquefy the cashews making silky heavenly cashew butter. Haven’t decided whether or not to get the same again, but i certainly got a good machine that handled more than i was led to expect.

Does the job

Good product for the money. Definitely not cuisinart quality. Still, it does get the job done.

4Expert Score
Great for home made baby food

So far works amazing! Primary reason to buy this product was to make baby food purées from our own organic produce. Loving it so far! The more water i added, made the purée a thinner consistency. We had a ninja and it wouldn’t purée it as thin as i wanted…

4Expert Score
Disc broke on first use

I like the processor but the welds on the slicing disc broke during my first use. I checked the site and to replace it will be $22 which is half the price of the whole food processor!!

4Expert Score
Inexpensive and works well.

Works well and is very inexpensive. I can’t imagine cleaning this without a dishwasher, however.
