Can you adjust how coarse or fine you want your coffee beans in this model?

No. It is a easy simple model. The longer you grind it, the finer the ground. If you want it course, just do short bursts a few times

I cannot pull the electric cord out of the grinder, the maximum lenght is 3 inches, i missed something? I tried push it in before pull it out, yank it

Grab the bottom of the unit and pull down. The grey piece will slide down about an inch and allow you to unroll the cord from the holder. When the cord is unwrapped, push the grey piece back up – note that the cut out on the grey piece should allow the cord to dangle free. It’s a simple procedure to reverse the process to re-wrap the cord when you are done.

What is the wattage of this grinder?

115 watts, 120v~60hz 125w. I had a hamilton beach grinder for more than 10 years and it still works well, and got a 2nd one because i use it only to grind herbs and spices. So now that my other one that i use only for coffee broke from another maker broke, i am buying a 2nd hamilton beach grinder. It’s not worth to spend more more if it works. The other one works well but i do not like using the same one for herbs and spices plus coffee. I like the front button, not on top, because it is better for my hand with arthritis.

Hi. Supports 220v/110v? Or only 110v?

The grinder only operates on 110v. However i think plugging in to a 220v outlet is not a bad idea that way you can get your misery over right away. Don’t buy this piece of junk. I never dropped it, whacked it with anything, or knocked it on anything but the palm of my hand to get spices out of it yet the cup on mine began to crack after less than a year of light use and after less than three years it just literally fell apart. I now own an epica and love it.

Will this grind flax seeds or would it just spin them around whole?

It does a good job on flax seeds. I use it 4 days a week at snack time at work.

Is this battery powered or cord only?

Nope, coffee blender don’t have battery, only cord.

For people who have used this for more than a year, how is the performance holding up today?

Wife has only used it a few times for coffee beans, used it today for grinding celery seeds and discovered the plastic ‘bowl’ was cracked. Bought it for christmas, it’s only a month old. I recommend buying one with a bowl that is made completely out of stainless instead of this one.

Can it grind cocoa nibs?

Not sure how much dense coffee is from cocoa but who cares… This grinder is of good quality and works well. I’ve had it for over a year now.

Help!! Is there a trick to removing the grinding chamber after twisting it? Impossible to pull up. Ground flax seeds all over the kitchen!!!

It should pull right out after twisting. If not, then it might have little pieces of flax seeds jamming it up. Try gently tapping it to work the debris loose. Keep tapping, twisting and pulling. You will succeed!!!

Does anyone know, is it powerful enough to grind dry pistachio shells which would be added to mulch? .

Grinding pistachio shells to add to an outdoor mulch would be better handled by a food processor. It has a bigger motor and a larger container to handle the job. You would burn up this motor and the blade in the unit. The hamilton beach is for coffee beans, spices and flax seed.

Is the grinding bowl washable?

Yes, the bowl and blade (as a one piece unit) come out for easy washing.

Where is product manufactured?

It says made in china

What does “makes up to 12 cups”? None of these (except the cuisinart maybe) look like they can hold that amount.

It’s two tablespoons of coffee beans per six ounce cup. Yes, six ounces.
12 six ounce cups of drip coffee requires 24 tablespoons of ground coffee beans.
This may seem like a lot, but it’s a standard measure. Try it, you’ll see. If you buy a coffee measure it’ll be 2 tbsp. Https://www.amazon.com/norpro-5537-stainless-coffee-tablespoon/dp/b000ssvgiy
you may find some people trying to say it’s 2tbsp per 8 ounces of water or more, but i believe those people are trying to be frugal to the detriment of their coffee.

Can i put oil in it to blend the spices?

I wouldn’t put oil in it, it may work its way down into the base of the unit, and who knows what might happen then?

Does the grinding mechanism contain any brass or ceramic components?

The grinding mechanism appears to be stainless stell.

It this a larger grinder? Does it grind 4.5 oz? Most others only grind 3 oz at a time.

The grinder is 7 inches tall. You can grind 9 tablespoons of coffee beans at a time. It will make up to 12 cups of coffee. It is a 4.5 oz grinder.

I hope this helps.

Sirve para moler sal gruesa?

No me ha tocado moler sal gruesa, pero si muele semillas como cafe, cacao y otras, porque no podria moler sal.

How tall is it?

It’s around 8 inches tall with the lid. When removed 6 inches.

New unit out of the box had coffee grind dirt trapped between the metal grind chamber and the plastic. Anyone know how to clean it?

Take the cup out of the grinder and turn the cup upside down. There are 4 screws which secure the metal cup to the plastic cup. Remove these screws and you can pull the two apart. Make sure that both are very dry before putting them back together. (don’t over tighten the screws – it can crack the plastic.)

Would this device be powerful enough to grind small asprin-sized pills? They might be a bit harder than coffee beans.

I would think it would, i’ve only ground coffee beans and flax seed so far. I think i would be concerned about losing some of the powdered medicine. If its ground fine, the powder sticks to the sides of the chamber and on the blades. For food items, if i don’t get it all off its no big deal, but medicine dose is more precise.

Gets the job done!!!

This is my first coffee grinder. After viewing several models, i decided to go with hamilton beach based on their reputation for blenders. The instructions are clear and easy to follow. The grinder performs well and cleanup is easy. I was not too thrilled with the cord that is on the bottom of the unit. You have to extend it out and then wrap it back into place after use. Other than that, a quiet motor, grinds well and takes up very little space. Would recommend to purchase.

Works good.

I use this to grind bird seed for my worms. It has no problem at all. I worried that the corn in the feed would be a problem. It has not been. It has been used a lot since i got it. Seems that it will last better than i had hoped. I have had it for about a month.

Efficient. Effective

Really quick to use, clean, and it’s pretty quiet. I use this at the office and it doesn’t bother people. The grounds are great size, and i love this machine.

Great alternative to a hand grinder

I bought one of these years ago because i was tired of using a hand grinder. Was ready for a new one so went with what i knew! Just remove any seeds and stems and grind to your desired consistency. Holds a lot more than a hand grinder

So much better than my old one

I used to use the krups ones but after 2 of them that broke after less than a couple months of use, i decided to get a new brand and what drew me to this one was the ability to remove the chamber that holds the grounds. This makes it easy to clean without damaging the motor. I think this is the issue with the krups one.
So far i am very happy with this one!

Fresh ground coffee.

This grinder is perfect for a single person.
Grinds fine enough for a drip coffee maker, or any desired grind your application. The size is small enough for easy storage.

5Expert Score
Great addition to our kitchen gadgets!

This little thing is powerful, easy to clean, and perfect for fresh ground coffee beans and spices. I can’t believe we’ve gone this long without one.

Quietest grinder i've ever owned!

I was looking for a quiet grinder that didn’t wake the whole house. This product delivers a nice grind at pretty quiet noise levels compared to my older grinder. The power cord is pretty short, and you have to manually wrap it around the bottom when you are finished, but the price point and quiet operation left me a satisfied customer.

5Expert Score
Great product for price

Extremely easy to use, not as noisy as others used and grinds coffee beans to my liking.

Good grinder, just needs longer cord

I like this coffee grinder a lot and the price is right, but the cord is a pain. The cord is too short and it curls up on you b/c of the wrap-around storage design, making it a bit more difficult to use overall. You have to fiddle with it. The cord storage is a good idea, but it truly is a pain, not an easy-to-use design. So, i don’t use the cord storage, which is one of the reasons i bought this grinder. The grinder itself is great though. If hamilton has a grinder just like this but a better cord design – buy that one! If not, i would probably still buy this grinder b/c the it’s a good value – just flatten out the cord the best you can so the unit doesn’t flip around on you while you’re using it.

Pros and cons after using for 6 months

Thought i would go back and put some reviews up for the amazon purchases that i use everyday.
I ordered this little guy back in march, and have used it everyday, sometimes multiple times a day, since then. It still works just as it did with no signs of slowing down. This being said, here is my short list of pros and cons:

– takes up minimal counter/cabinet space
– easy and quick to use/clean
– does not make a mess like people are saying.. Just take the cup off of the base to pour your grinds.
– it’s pretty quiet? I mean it’s about what you would expect for a tiny motor. Think hair dryer.
– you can get a lot of beans in there! ~3/4 cup

– recently started making cold brew. This thing can not produce a rough grind to save its life. It’s whole beans, powder, or a mix thereof, and no inbetween. This has been my only grinder, but i assume you would need >1 blade for better bean coverage.
– the cord wraps at the base. Good for storage. Bad for when you’re trying to stand it up and it’s always sitting on a part of it’s kinked up cord and about to fall over.
– cord is also a bit short since it has to wind around the base.

All in all, i would definitely reccommend this to a friend if all they wanted was a fine grind every morning.

Nice but the cord has issues

Bought this in may of 2021. It worked great, especially for the price. However, just yesterday, the cord became disconnected from the grinder. The way it wraps around the base is a problem. The frequent bending of the cord near the base eventually makes it loose.

I first thought it was a great way to store the cord, but i know now that maybe that is not the case.

Luckily, when i bought it, it was only 13$ so it was not a major financial loss.

Otherwise i loved this little grinder and am sorry to see it go.

Good for more than just coffee

This grinds the perfect amount of coffee for a full pot of coffee, or just a small amount equally well.
I used this to grind other things and the result was just as good.
Easy to clean which is also a plus.

4Expert Score
Easy enough for a daily personal grind of coffee.

A little ackward to manage the lid on and off but other than that it’s great and grinds very well.

4Expert Score
The manufacturer stands beqhind their product

The plasric bowl that holds the beans split after a few months of use.the manufacturer has agreed to replace the device at no cost to me.
So it’s good and bad,a new device crackes, but it’s replaced.

4Expert Score
Loud and a little messy but does the job well

It does the job. A little messy. I don’t know how coffee grounds get underneath the grinder cup when it is tightened securely. It’s really, really loud.

4Expert Score
Works well but loud

Works really well but it is a little loud. I got used to it but it’s a bit of a shock in the morning.

4Expert Score
Best for 10 or fewer cups

Simple to use, works well. Our only negative is that it says it’s for 12 cups but filling it that full really makes it hard to transfer without spilling. A deeper well and shorter lid would have been a better design.

4Expert Score
Not easy to clean

Wish i would have went with another product. It isn’t actually easy to clean at all. Just rinsing it water gets trapped under the plastic, i saw it mentioned in a few bad reviews and thought okay well i just won’t put it in the dishwasher it obviously isn’t really dishwasher safe. Well literally just a quick rinse in the sink to get off some cakes in coffee grounds and water has been trapped for 2 weeks sense i purchased it and no way to get it out so worried it will mold now and will have to buy something else anyway.
