I purchased these binoculars for my twin, now 5 year old, grandsons. They can handle them with relative ease; obviously never a problem when with their older sister, parents, etc. Again,a durable product with very good optics that is offered at an amazingly low price
Are the lenses glass or plastic?
The binocular lenses are made of glass. Compare with plastic lenses, the glass lenses will give quality images.
You don’t have to worry about glass lenses reflect back part of the light, because this problem has rectified by giving the glass the multiple coating (fmc).

in complete darkness you can easily create your own light source by attaching an adjustable mini red-beamed flashlight to your binoculars (100 to 200 luminous will do).
With this set-up, you’ve got good instant night vision.
The big drawback here, however, is that you’ll compromise your position–not good if you’re alone doing urban recon or surveillance work during an emergency civil unrest situation.
In nighttime forested areas, at least you can create decoys by tying about six other mini flashlights to small tree branches; a light wind will move the red beams around, so the enemy will think people are working the flashlights as a group, guarding their perimeter.

Would these work to watch a musical theater production in a dimly lit auditorium?
I’ve used them successfully at dusk to watch wildlife but not on objects against a lite background. I would say ‘yes’. The contrast should work. See what others say…..
Can i check out comets near by with these?
Sure you can, but they should be almost visible to the naked eye or you would have to know roughly where to look. A better choice for comet viewing and searching would be binoculars with more light gathering power. The second number gives the lens diam in mm, so a 7×50 would give the same magnification (the first number 7) but significantly great light gathering power.

Plastic, i think. I bought them as a gift, but my father loves them. They are very light and compact, but work great for things like bird watching

The carrying case has no strap attached but the it includes the strap for the binoculars. They both are separate.
Toddler stuck a quarter in the eyepiece, any ideas on how to get it out?
Use a pinsel eraser with somethings sticky on it. Try hot glue,apply hot glue to eraser and touch to quarter. Let cool then lift it out.

The photo shows glowing blue lenses. Do they glow in weak light or darkness? Too much light might hinder looking for wildlife at night. Thanks!

My daughter just got these as a birthday present and they got some water in them and are now blurry. Is there a way to take them apart to dry them?
If they got water inside them the best thing you could do is put them in a jar with a little bit of rice and maybe just maybe that’ll take the moisture out of them they really shouldn’t have got water in them they’re usually water tight you should call the company and see what they suggest otherwise they are pretty good
