Jiusion 40 to 1000x Magnification Endoscope, 8 LED USB 2.0 Digital Microscope, Mini Camera with OTG Adapter and Metal Stand, Compatible with Mac Windows 7 8 10 11 Android Linux

I’ve wanted a usb microscope for a long time, mainly for working on electronics, and finally decided on this one based on the reviews it got. The software on the included mini-disc installed in my windows 10 laptop with no issues whatever. The ‘scope worked immediately, and i’m quite happy with the quality of the image. The only ‘hiccup’ i ran into was that i wasn’t aware of the control on the cable that can vary the brightness of the leds; i contacted jiusion via their site, asking if there was a way to vary the brightness of the leds, and got a reply the next day pointing out that the brightness control was on the cable. I never even looked at it, assuming it was a ferrite bead ‘choke’ to prevent electrical ‘noise.’ i’m very happy with this scope and with the level of service quickly provided, and i’d recommend this ‘scope to anyone!

Update: the main drawback of this setup is the flimsy stand. The company had an offer of providing a much better stand on their webpage, free of charge. This has fixed the reason why i deducted one star from my original review. Upgraded to 5 stars considering the whole package and the price.

Original review: this a good product specially at this price. Endoscope has very good resolution and the led light is very potent and dimmable which helps viewing the objects. As other reviewers stated it seems to have 2 main focal points controlled by the zoom knob. It takes good pictures once you have installed and figure out the app. They provide a good help in their website for this. I am deducting a star for a few minor details. First the regular stand is not very helpful nor adjustable enough for precision handling. They sell a separate much better stand that should fix this problem. Second, the image is inverted in relation to the position of the knob which makes zooming and focusing very difficult without losing the image due to moving the scope. Again, this probably should be solved placing it in a proper stand. Finally, the apps to handle this scope are not very user friendly though they work after you figure it out. Overall a very good product though.

I first used this microscope at work which was used for simple microassembly and decided to buy one at home. At work, it is great since it is so low cost that damaging it is not a concern compared to more advanced imaging systems containing a quite expensive objective. At home it is great for examining pcb boards up close or just looking at random stuff around your house if you don’t own a more expensive microscope. The quality is truly amazing for the price.

I wanted this to use with my windows 10 laptop. I don’t have a cd player so i went to the website, downloaded the app, and it was pretty much plug and play after that. The light is super bright and adjustable. The magnification works great for checking your cannabis trichomes and there’s a little button on the microscope to snap a pic. No complaints.

Setup was easy in windows i use it to look at old coins, picture is great. The stand however is a little wobbly, and hard to adjust zoom while keeping a still pic. The manuf, will be sending a different stand. Great response from company about stand. Recommended for a inexpensive digital microscope to look at coins, plant leaves, insects. Etc

I bought the microscope mainly for use in electronics, i like to do some home repairs to electronics from time to time. I was impressed with the quality and how easy it is to install on windows. Now i think i can use it for other things, for numismatics or philately. The quality surprises me considering the price.

I was surprised by the quality and ease of operation of this jiusion microscope. Although i am not a numismatist, i’ve enjoyed looking at coins and bills under this microscope and look forward to viewing a few nature specimens as well. I used a conventional microscope at work years ago and, by comparison, find it more pleasurable to view an enlarged object on my computer monitor than directly through a microscope’s ocular lens. With the zoom button, i achieved magnification of about 150x. To demonstrate this, i used a tape measure over the coin to demonstrate the width of a facial feature in mm. Then i magnified the image using the zoom button and measured the same facial feature on my monitor. The px2325/amcap software was easy to install and use on my windows 10 computer. My 6 and 12 year old grandchildren played with the microscope today, and both were fascinated. For those accustomed to using a traditional microscope: this scope does not have a coarse and fine adjustment, just a single wheel that serves both functions plus the zoom button, which provides 4 levels of magnification. I was not happy with the stand initially provided with this scope. On email request, jiusion kindly sent me their superior new stand and carrying case. With the newer stand, the microscope is securely supported , and the user can attend to the image rather than balancing the scope. For the cost, i think this is an excellent product if the newer stand is included. My 5 star rating is based on the assumption that the seller will supply the newer stand with the microscope. Jiusion does provide a flexible, transparent, calibration ruler with the microscope. A few thin, clear, plastic disks that could serve as slides on which various specimens could be viewed under the microscope would also be an inexpensive and welcome addition to the package .

This microscope works great with my android phone. Now i can see the tiny fibers to finish the project i’m working on. Very easy set up and easy to adjust clarity and light . Also works on my laptop no disc needed just download the program. If you need to check for ambering this one is well worth it very clear picture just needs a good stand to go with it and it’d be perfect.

This thing is awesome! There is a learning curve when it comes to using it. Once you get it figured out, this thing is amazing. Especially for the price. I strongly suggest mounting it on a pole or a stand of some sort. The little stand that it comes with was basically useless in my application.

it’s really simple to use, just plug it into your computer and open the camera app. To get to 1000x zoom with the included base, shim it up with some paper instead of trying to adjust the arm. Overall i’m very impressed with this microscope.

Update: jiusion reached out to me about 6 months after i posted this review and asked if i would re-consider my rating. They have made some improvements to the product and offered to send me another one for free to try out. I received the updated version of the microsocope a couple of weeks ago and just got around to checking it out.

What i received looks pretty much identical to the original product i received, right down to the erroneously labeled ’40x – 1000x’ focus knob. However they did make several improvements.

– windows 10 support – the biggest bugbear i had with the microscope to start with was the absolute chore it was to get it to work with windows 10. It’s now completely plug-and-play in windows 10. As a bonus it’s also plug-and-play in fedora 29.
– the brightness control works better
– the focus knob turns a little easier but is still smooth
– the stand, while it looks identical to the one i received before, is actually a little heavier and sturdier and it’s now possible to adjust the focus without completely losing your subject.
– they’ve also included a little ‘calibration’ card with measurements so you can see exactly how much magnification you’re getting at any given setting.
– the instructions have been greatly improved and expanded – adding clear, illustrated troubleshooting steps and even explaining how to use it with windows 10

it’s still a tiny 640×480 sensor (which is less than 1/3 of a megapixel for reference) but other than the item name, it no longer makes claims of being ‘high definition’ or treating the ‘digital zoom’ as though it was actually an increase in magnification.

All in all i’ve been inspired to add two stars back to my review. +1 star for updating the hardware/firmware so that it’s plug-and-play with windows 10, and +1 star for fixing the instructions. The only reason this isn’t now a 5-star review is that the item name still claims that you can get up to 1000x magnification which is still completely misleading.

My original review below:

the main draw of this microscope is that it’s cheap and it technically works. The price is the only reason it’s getting two stars instead of one.

Setting this up in windows 10 was needlessly complicated. Given how utterly barebones this device is, there really is no excuse for it not being plug-and-play. Assuming you still have an optical drive in your pc you can use the disc it ships with to install the driver. If you don’t have an optical drive, you can’t (easily) go out and find the drivers to download. The seller doesn’t publish the drivers, but they will send you a link to a google drive location via email a day after the item arrives, or, i assume, upon request. The secret google drive drivers and what’s on the disc are exactly the same as far as i can tell (you’re not getting a newer version of the drivers when you download them). When you install the driver it also installs a utility called ‘amcap’ which you’re told to use to capture images and video. In windows 10, amcap only works right after a reboot and only for a limited amount of time. If you wait too long after a reboot it will give you some bogus message about not being able to create a filter or some such. If you manage to get it working right after a reboot, it will eventually crash with the same message. But since the thing is just a webcam with a macro lens, you can use the windows camera app built in to windows 10 and it actually works pretty well – the seller should really think about just writing that in the brochure rather than encouraging you to fiddle around with the buggy amcap utility.

They don’t advertise it, but the maximum actual resolution of the camera is 640×480. You can try to use the digital zoom to pump this up, but it just scales the 640×480 in software – you get a bigger image but no actual increase in detail. This is super disappointing because it severely limits it’s usefulness as a microscope. And also, where did they even find a photo sensor in such low resolution – that’s hasn’t been a video standard since the early 90’s. This is beyond cheap. The ’40 to 1000x’ magnification claim evidently relies on several layers of digital zoom (which as i mentioned earlier doesn’t capture a single spec of additional detail) in order to not be an outright lie. In truth 40x is all you’re actually getting, and to get that you basically have to place the subject inside the plastic lens guard.

The stand the scope comes with is also technically functional but it literally moves if you breathe on it. Trying to turn the focus knob without completely losing the subject you’re trying to magnify is an exercise in patience.

For the record, if the specifications had been communicated honestly i probably would have kept it as a toy, but since they were exaggerated in an arguably dishonest manner i’ll be returning it.

I got this to use for some ideas i had at work and also for my grandkids. The microscope itself works quite well and is easy to use except for the cheap stand. It’s neither heavy enough nor sturdy enough to use without using one hand to try and hold it steady to keep the focus on the specimen. It’s also very easy to snap pictures of any item that is in focus both from the microscope itself and from the software provided.

I would give this 5 stars if it weren’t for the stand.

Note: i’ve discovered that if you go to the juision website they have another stand, supposedly for free, to replace the original that comes with the scope. I’ll add another note after i receive the new stand.

For the low cost of the microscope i was amazed that i was able to inspect something as small as the diamond tip of a turntable stylus.
I had purchased this microscope some time ago but had not needed it until recently. After playing one of my older records, i noticed the sound coming from the turntable was horrible. Naturally the first thing i tried was to clean the stylus. After trying several methods the problem persisted. I remembered ordering this microscope and pulled it out. After installing the software and adjusting the lens the problem became obvious. There was some vinyl stuck to the diamond tip.
Using the microscope and an old diskwasher stylus cleaning brush the diamond was clean. The microscope saved the day!

I’ve had this microscope for a few weeks now and it’s been working great! The device is directly compatible with windows 10/11, so there was nothing to install to get started. However, i am unable to use the zoom or snapshot feature unless i download a certain software. On their website they give easy instructions with pictures on how to download. This product has helped me get more into coin collecting and is great for any other fine, detail work you might want to do!

I bought this not expecting much especially for the price and some of the negative reviews. I will start by saying this is the first time i have ever bought something like this. I don’t know anything about microscopes. So with that being said, i would imagine if you needed a microscope for extremely accurate measurements, i am sure there is lab equipment far better than this.

However for my uses, it works great. I bought it mostly out of curiosity. I wanted to see a whole new world that is under our eyes every day and it didn’t disappoint. I can’t say that the 1000x magnification stated is accurate but i was pleasantly surprised just far it does zoom. First thing is that the stand is a little ‘janky.’ it works but depending on what you are looking at, it takes some fiddling with. There is a snap and a zoom button that i have not used at all because the way that the stand holds the camera, it kind of blocks those buttons. There is a clear lens cover that you need to take off in order to see things clearly, i learned that after messing with it for 10 minutes or so. The light works well and is dimmable via a small wheel on the cord. So after looking at a few objects it was neat. I then took the camera off and put my skin directly on to the lens piece (where the lens cap was held) and messed with the zoom even more. This is what was impressive to me. I was able to see stuff on my arm hairs! My skin and arm hairs looks pretty cool so i tried other stuff. I grabbed some standing water outside from my kids pool and was able to see stuff swimming in it.

So for a hobby, fun or curiosity, it’s well worth the $25 or so that i spent. If you wanted something more scientific, it’s probably not for you. Also, it came with a software cd. For me this was a problem as i have a gaming pc with no disc drive. I simply went to their website which was on the pamphlet that came with it and downloaded it from there. My biggest complaint with everything is the software. It’s terrible. It works however it defaults to another hd webcam that i use and then freezes completely. It’s happened every singe time so i had to unplug my hd webcam so it defaults to the microscope cam. It then works fine but still completely freezes sometimes.

This is a great microscope for the money. It was easy to set up and is easy to use. There are better microscopes out there, but at a lot more money. This is great for a first microscope and general use. Highly recommend it.

You would be hard pressed to find a better digital microscope for the price, but the mounting doesn’t hold up. That socket joint is not going to do you any favors over the long haul.

The image allows you a pretty close view of things, but adjusting the zoom also adjusts the focus. I only notice 2-3 “settings” where the image is in focus. Good images when in focus. Not magnified as much as i thought it would be.

Scope worked very well the stand needs more weight so as to not fall over as easy!

This digital microscope works just fine and is a good deal for the price. On the macbook pro it is very easy to use. My primary complaint is that the stand that it comes with is a bit finicky and flimsy.
