Looking for specific info?

I’d like to use these in a fixture that currently is controlled by a dimmer switch. Is that okay?

One thing about having a dimmer, even at 100%, if it is a phase-cut dimmer, it can cause problems for digital electronics. Not sure how this bulb would respond, but all of the smart bulbs i’ve tried from any brand will buzz or flicker. So, if you have problems like that your best bets would be dumb led bulbs that list compatibility with dimmer switches, or to replace the switch for a few bucks.

If you have say 4 bulbs on one circuit, can you program each bulb individually?

Yes you can. Each bulb can have it’s own name or location regardless the circuit it is on. For instance, living room lamp, living room ceiling fan light, desk iight and you can group them together under one name like living room lights. You would still be able to turn on individually or as a group.

Da buena luz

Hi! Yes, the kl125 smart bulbs are designed to provide 800 lumens (60w equivalent) of light output for your needs.

Hola son e27 sirve para 220w?

Hi! These are not for 220v.

I live in turkey and the voltage is 220v. I want to buy kasa smart kl125 smart lamb but can it work in turkey because of the voltage?

No – the kl125 sold here is designed for usa voltage (120v).

Can i use these the kasa lightbulbs outdoors in a porch light?

I wouldn’t. As others have said, they have done it w/out issue, but putting a light bulb that is not specifically meant for the outside could cause problems.

There are plenty of bulbs rated for outside, and while you could probably do it without consequence, is it really worth the risk?

Off topic a little, but i own 4 of these kasa bulbs and i have been extremely happy with them. 5 stars ll the way. The app is easy to use and intuitive and the bulbs have stayed connected. I would definitely buy a kasa product again.

Will the lights work with the app if have no internet access?

Yes, as long as your smartphone is connected to the same wifi as the bulbs. Please note that internet may be required for initial setup (including the creation of your tp-link kasa account), and cloud features such as remote control and voice integration with alexa or google assistant will not work if internet is lost.

Is it possible to adjust each bulb separately?

Yes, each bulb is assigned a name in the app and you can set a schedule for each or turn off/on via the app or alexa by say the command with the bulb’s name.

Will these globes work in south africa

They are designed for use in north america (120v).

What happens when the power switch is turned on, after being off? Other brands strobe when power cycled..

When the power switch is turned on after being off, the lights come on in the last mode they were in when turned off. Example: if they were at 50% and blue when turned off, they will be at 50% and blue when switched back on

Can i use 3 of these bulbs at once on a ceiling light fixture that has 3 bulbs?

Yes. I use five in my dining room light fixture.

Will these work with adt alarm?

I can’t really see how they would, or what the reasoning would be. They work fine on their own with the app or alexa.

Does this work with 5ghz? Thank you.

They don’t work with the 5ghz.they are not compatible.

How tall are the bulbs

Hi! The kl125 is designed to match the size/aesthetic of standard a19 light bulbs.

Product dimensions: 2.36 x 4.41 in (60 x 112 mm)

Are these bulbs the same size as typical bulbs? I have smart bulbs from another brand and they do not fit my ‘boob light’ fixtures.

These bulbs fit standard light fixtures. So you shouldn’t have a problem. They are the same size as regular round bulbs.

Can you change the color of the bulb from the app?

Yes you have full control of the color from the kasa app. You also have a limited color selection in the google home app.

Has the auto white brightness feature resolved? I just want auto light cool white during the day and warm white during night, 100% bright all the time

Currently, the auto white still adjusts both brightness and temperature. I will pass along the feedback to the correct team that this is a needed feature; for now, you could create an automation that will enable the auto-white preset and then adjust the brightness to 100% every so often; which also toggles the auto white preset to off

What’s the working temperature range?

If you are referring to color temperature: 2500k-6500k

if you are referring to environmental/ambient temperature:

operating temperature: -15 oc~ 40 oc (5°f ~ 104°f )
operating humidity: 10%~90%rh, non-condensing

Can these or any kasa bulbs color cycle? Like just loop through the various colors?

No. However, we appreciate your interest in this type of feature, and we will share it with our kasa team for consideration.

I received one bad bulb out of 8. (bought two 4 packs) is it possible to replace just the bad one or do i have to return all?

If you have a bad product we would recommend contacting our technical support team. Tp-link support contacts can be found on our official website under the support option and then clicking on contact technical support.

4 pack bulbs

After reading reviews, i was pretty nervous about ordering these seems how some people made it seem like a lottery order with quite a few different complaints. That could still be the case. Several people mentioned black or white bottom bulbs, but i’m still not sure what that means, since i didn’t see anyone who mentioned them post a picture of the different kinds they were talking about.

But in any case, when i ordered the 4 pack they were all the same, as pictured with box, and they all work. The exact model is kl130 for anyone who’s curious. I got the 4 pack because i was worried about getting mismatched versions, so i guess at least in my case that worked. I just ordered a second 4 pack to do the rest of my apartment, so if they wind up being different, i’ll come back and say so.

I also read one review that said the bulbs were off and wouldn’t go in their sockets which gave me doubts as well, but they do, in fact, fit into a standard socket. I got 3 of my 4 pack into my overhead fan light (the standard kind with gold metal, ridged glass and brown wood blades you see in apartments everywhere), then tested the remainder out in my bathroom mirror 4-light strip (again, the cheap medicine cabinet kind you see in low rent apartments everywhere) and then again into my old-timey touch lamp and it worked in all of them, so unless you have exotic fixtures of some kind, you’re good to go. Also slightly surprised that they worked in my touch lamp, so if you were wondering about that, just touch to the highest light setting and you’re good to go.

I was also kind of worried about how the setup would go since a few people said it was wonky, but not how and i didn’t see the actual process pop right up in the first few pages of reviews, so i’ll just include it here:

1. Download the ‘kasa smart’ app, create a login and verify your email.
2. Put a light into your target fixture, turn it on to make sure it works, then turn it back off again.
3. Hit the plus sign in the upper right hand corner of the app.
4. Tap on the ‘device’ option
5. Tap on the ‘smart light’ option
6. Tap on the ‘smart bulb kl100 series’ option
7. The first prompt says ‘first, make sure the power is off on the light you’re replacing. Swap the current bulb with the smart bulb’, you’ve already done this, so tap ‘next’.
8. The next prompt says ‘power on the light, wait about 5 seconds until the smart bulb blinks 3 times’. Do that and then hit next.
9. It’ll connect and then ask you to sign into your wifi.
10. You’ll get a prompt for your bulb to update, do that.
11. Give the bulb a name.
12. Done

optional #1: if you want to put a cluster of bulbs into a group so they all change colors/dim simultaneously like i wanted to with my 3 fan lights, make sure you’ve set each bulb up separately, then hit the + sign in the upper right hand corner and tap ‘group’. Then select the bulbs you want to put in a group and give it a name. The main interface page will show groups on top as well as each individual bulb below.

Optional #2: set up with your alexa/google/whatever. I jumped the gun on connecting alexa before i added the bulbs and she announced each time one was installed that i could now control ‘tp underscore … Blah blah blah’ by talking to her. Kind of highlights the importance of the names if you’re going to be doing this because no way are you saying its given device name to control it. I mean, unless you’re into that kind of thing, no judgement, but not for me.

Even though *i think* i got the model everyone was a bit displeased with, aside from putting in the wrong wifi password on the first attempt and having to delete and reinstall the app to fix it, setup was surprisingly easy and quick. Zero wonkiness actually wound up happening, so another win.

In terms of brightness and color versatility, when it’s at it’s brightest in white, i can’t tell the difference between it and the intense spiral led’s it replaced…which is to say they’re capable of being blinding if that’s what you need.

For color versatility you legitimately get a whole color wheel to choose a color with and then the hardest part is really just picking one since all the colors look pretty cool. In an entirely dark room at night, the colors at full brightness somehow give a dimmed feel while still providing all the light you could want to look around with. As a dark mode everything person, it’s a strange surprise best of both worlds scenario i keep double checking when i think it’s actually dimmed by reading the book titles in perfect clarity across the room.

The dimming feature is on a percentage wheel similar to a speedometer and is also pretty nice.

Overall, i’m really happy with my purchase and that the reviews freaked me out for zero reason. If you get the 4 pack and/or the same version bulbs as i did, you should be all good :).

Amazing smart bulbs but auto features need work

Live in a very old apartment with old electrical wiring, installing a dimmer switch just didn’t work. I love these smart bulbs because i don’t have to change the switch on the wall or worry about enough amps or problems with the breakers.

Great app, amazing control. I don’t care about the colors but the ability to change the kelvin of the light bulbs is so amazing, i have it automatically change to a warmer color when the sun goes down. The app lets you control the bulbs automatically, but it is difficult to learn though, a lot of trial and error. I was having a hard time setting up automatic scenes and i had to find alternatives. When you group light bulbs together, the grouping for controlling them all can be better. Also the automatic change throughout the day is useless because it controls both brightness and temperature, once i change the brightness then the auto change deactivates.

Works great, with one issue

So i thought the wifi would have been the issue since that is the most common complaint. I think i am going to have to blame that on people that have cheap home wifi and or do not know how to set up best practice for iot and a separate wifi for your iot and then bridging the networks. I do have an overkill network setup in my home. And i do use tp link omada access points and a tp link omada controller for my wireless. And my router/dhcp controller/firewall is a qhora. With this set up, i never lose connectivity or need to power them on and off. I have 12 of these bulbs and never had a single one lose their connection.
However, i do have one complaint. When these are on full brightness (at lest the 850 lumen version as that is the ones i have) they will start to have a flicker after a while. But i have noticed that if they are never at 100% or like in auto mode to change with the time of day (btw this is a nice little feture if you work a regular shift, not so great if your a 3rd shifter) they do not flicker. Also i think they get better with time… I was almost going to replace some of them that where flickering too much. But they got left on over night (kids forgot to turn them off with a simple google command) but they seam to be working perfect after a long run time. I am not sure if this is a fluke. I do have them set that they never lose their power, they are turned on, off, and everything in between with either the app or with google.
I do wish there was some ‘fun’ modes, like party mode where they can randomly change and just do some fun things like some other lights. But they can not. At least that i am aware of. Also, it seams google is limited to what it can do with the lights. Example of this is that you can not tell google to set the lights to a scene that you have set up. You can set the color, brightness, tone, ect. But you can not tell it to use an existing scene. That i think needs to be updated for google to be able to see those scene since it does connect to the cloud service and it should be able to use those scenes.

Other then that, i really like these, and is way better then spending outrages amounts of money of philips branded bulbs. Just as long as you know how to set up you wifi, and have good wifi in your home where you are placing these. With my house being nerd central and having enterprise grade wifi and network equipment, i do not have any issues with these lights.

I own 12, outstanding light quality, kasa app great but sometimes 'hinky' setup with alexa

The color temperature is very adjustable to a pleasant 3400k color overall without being overly red, as most led bulbs are. The steps are quite smooth and dim down to 10% which really appears as 10% and not 50% like most led bulbs. The kasa ap stays connected to my home netgear router/wap’s and if it does disconnect it recovers without flashing the lights or going to some goofy preset. Overall nicely engineered to where i bought 12 of them, all working great!

A slight learning curve, but works seamlessly with alexa once you figure it out.

I’m using these bulbs for my bedside lamps, so i don’t need a ton of bright light, nor do i want it. These are capable of medium brightness, and obviously you can change them as well. After a little bit of set up, i was easily able to set them up with voice commands. If you want multiple bulbs to turn on at the same time and do the same things, like changing colors for example, then you should set up a group in the kasa app and also set up a group in the alexa app. You want to set up multiple lights (to work in sync with each other) in their own specific light group, not clumped together in some other room’s group. The key is to make a group in the both apps. Overall, very happy with these lightbulbs. I should’ve bought them a long time ago.

Kasa smart lightbulbs easy to use

I had no problem installing the app and configuring the bulbs with the app. One thing i specially liked is that i was able to pair the bulb to my 5ghz wifi. I know that the product said only 2.4ghz but is also works with my 5ghz wifi. This is great because the 5ghz wifi can accommodate more connections. The bulbs are also great as you can change colors as you prefer. I highly recommend this product.

Easy setup and works as intended

These lights work exactly as they are described. They are also super easy to setup. I would recommend these to all.

Alexa integration works with app

These bulbs work great. You must have an account through their app for alexa to work.

4Expert Score
There is no party mode

Work as expected, setup was easy for all the bulbs – one thing that is noticeably missing, for a smart led light is a party mode in the app. Not a big deal, but if you were looking for that function, this may not be a right choice for you.

How i fixed connectivity between internet and third bulb on iphone

I was excited to get these bulbs to put in the three fixtures hanging over my kitchen island. I already have six kasa outlets, so i have the kasa app. The first two bulbs of my four-pack connected easily. Then number three ………. I tried over and over and it would not connect to my wifi. I tried switching to bulb four in the pack and moving the bulb to a lamp right next to my router. Still no connectivity.

So, leaving the bulb in the lamp by my router, i went to my wifi settings on my iphone and turned off both private wi-fi address and limit ip address tracking, and started the process over. It worked! I’ve moved the bulb to the kitchen fixture and changed the two settings back on the phone, and all is still working.

I hope this helps someone like me who does not know what all these settings actually do. And before they spend hours trying to get the bulb to connect.

Frustrating to set up but great after

I had to restart several times to get all lights working, but now that they’re set up they work great. The previous lights i had would blink constantly when not connected to wifi, but these ones are just white when not connected. Good.

Away feature is missing!

Good smart bulb but an important ‘away’ feature is missing. With ‘away’ feature the device would simulate random usage so any observer might think that someone is still occupying the house.

These are wonderful but have difficulty staying connected to wifi

These are wonderful but have difficulty staying connected to wifi. I have read hundreds of complaints and issues regarding bulbs like this, having very weak wifi due to small antennas and the current technology is quite limiting. It’s not just kasa bulbs that have this limitation.

Great bulbs

Ordered this 4 pack, but sadly one of them is a dud. It stays on white, and you can’t turn it off with the app. Didn’t wanna return all 4 because of this one bulb.
You can tell it is changing the rgb leds when you change colors, but the white stays on and washes any hint of color out. I’ve tried resetting it multiple times. It just stays white and will not turn off. So it will just be a regular old bulb somewhere else than intended.

Good smart bulb

It works pretty good, but i need a higher wattage one!
