Is this any good for cleaning greasy eyeglasses?
A couple reviews were misleading. Here’s the guidance straight from the manual on this question and it was bolded:
‘attention:
– glasses / sunglasses with pre-existing scratches or cracks in the coating are not suitable for ultrasonic cleaning. Ultrasonic cleaning is only suitable for cleaning frames.
– antique jewelry, jewelry containing loose stones, and jewelry containing soft / porous stones like pearls, emeralds, amber and opal should not be cleaned in the ultrasonic cleaner. If you are unsure about whether you should use the ultrasonic cleaner on your specific type of jewelry, please consult your local jeweler.’
i ruined a pair of glasses. If you have even the slightest, think almost invisible, crack in the coating or a break in it where the lenses meet the frames (very hard to detect), the ultrasonic cleaner will vigorously attack these defects and start to strip away the entire coating, thereby trashing your glasses. If your lenses are coated with anything, follow the manufacturer’s advice and do not use an ultrasonic cleaner.

The manual calls ‘to celan watches with less than 30 mts of watterproof depth ‘ does this mean that if i have a 50 mts it is not suitable?
The short answer is that regardless of the mis-worded/backwards instructions in the manual, you should never ever submerge any watch in an ultrasonic cleaner, period. The entire purpose of the ultrasonic cleaner is to aggressively drive water into the tiniest of crevices to clean out debris. The sealing gaskets for watches are not designed with ultrasonic cleaners in mind. Even diving watches are not tested against such aggressive environments. The ratings on non-diving watches are for brief submersions in static environments when brand new. With age the o-rings degrade. The seal around the stem isn’t very tight to start with, and after a battery change the seal for the back is rarely very robust. No watch maker is likely to endorse using an ultrasonic cleaner on their watch. For more info on what the rating on the watch means, look at: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/water_resistant_mark
What are 5 preset cleaning cycles?
Preset cleaning cycles is a fancy term for how many seconds the machine is set to run – 90, 180, 280, 380 and 480 seconds.
Anyone have a solution that they think i should use for this for best answers
I use simple green or fast orange combined with warm (not hot) water in a 50/50 ration. This works best (for me) over any other cleaning solution combo for jewelry. I then rinse in clean water and use a can of compressed air (the kind you use for computer keyboards) to blow dry diamonds and give it that extra sparkle.
Will the basket hold a whole pair of glasses for cleaning? Or do you have to clean half the glasses at a time?
My glasses definitely don’t fit in the basket and even with the basket out they don’t completely fit either. My glasses are not oversized.
Has anyone used this product to make liposomal vitamin c? And did you like it?
What program do you put it on for liposome vitamin c?
2. Will it operate with the top open in order to fit a larger item (and flip it over to clean other side)?
It will work with its top open .
Does it remove tarnish
No – it only removes dirt, grime, oils, etc. You need a chemical reaction to remove tarnish, so after cleaning you’ll need to used silver polish, or polishing clothes soaked with silver polish.
Can i use it in 220v?
Whats so funny about this question? A lot of devices are auto switcheable from 110v to 240v or 220v. Thats why i think alex asked this question. Don’t turn it into something sarcastic. It is a very legitimate question and by the way, the answer can just be a yes or a no…. No need to say in the way you said it.
Would it be safe to clean tiffany jewelries?
Ultrasonic cleaners are safe for most precious metals including gold, silver and platinum. Some soft stones such as opals, pearls, emeralds, etc should not be cleaned in an ultrasonic cleaner! Diamonds, sapphires, garnets and other hard stones are okay. If it’s plain tiffany’s jewelry with no stones you should be fine. If it has stones you need to evaluate if the stones will fair well or not. With silver you might need to also use a silver tarnish cloth to rub down after using the cleaner. Silver can be stubborn. If you have loose settings or pave set stones you may wish to avoid too much ultrasonic cleaning. A good cleaner and a soft tooth brush should do the trick in that case.

Some say you can clean tarnished silver and some of you say no, so those of you who did remove tarnish, what did you add to the water?
Ammonia can cause sterling to turn black! Also, detergents (dish soap) are quite harsh, and can be difficult to remove from porous metals. Ammonia can cause pock marks in the metal, and then the detergent can build up in the pock marks, eventually causing corrosion. The best way to remove tarnish is with a chemical reaction caused by silver polish (sodium carbonate). First clean jewelry with the ultrasonic cleaner, then remove off the tarnish with sodium carbonate or sodium bicarbonate.

Is it safe to clean pave design jewelry?
I have cleaned my micro pave engagement ring and wedding ring many times and it works amazingly!!! No problems here – only awesome results.
Can i clean pearls in this?
The proper way to clean pearls is to wet a clean soft hand towel ring out excess water and very gently pull the strand of pearls through the cloth holding the cloth completely around the pearls to get all the sides clean. This should be done after wearing them then lay them on dry soft towel to air dry. Never expose your pearls to hair spray, fragrance, body lotion or any cosmetics. As others have said pearls are very fragile and need to be cared for. They are also strung with silk string and you don’t want to do anything that will shorten the life and cause you to have to restring more often because it it not a low cost repair. Hope this helps. Ps. They can be damaged by metal jewelry so be care how you store them in your jewelry box also.

Can you clean opal jewelry?

Will this be safe for cleaning resin out of my bowl?
91% alcohol will remove resin easily. No need for an ultrasonic cleaner. Just pour the alcohol in and let it soak for 30 minutes. Swish and dump. Just make sure to rinse it well before using it.
My mom’s a barber would this work for cleaning/disinfecting combs and brushes?
It does not disinfect. It removes surface dirt, grime, and sticky substances. After cleansing, you still have to disinfect the tools in barbicide, or a citrus germicidal cleaner, or cleansing alcohol, or hydrocide germicide, etc.
Can you use this for cleaning handgun shells? Tom
I wouldn’t use it to clean live ammo but don’t see how there would be a problem with spent casings.
I was wondering how often can you use this for diamond rings? Can it harm your jewelry using this too much?
Every day, every 5 minutes… Real gold and real diamonds are not affected at all by this. Use all the time if you want. I use mine every day when i do the dishes.
How many megahertz does this put out?
If you read the specs, you would clearly see this is: ‘generates 42,000 hz of ultrasonic sound waves for a powerful yet gentle clean that won’t harm your valuables’.
Can jewelry cleaning fluid be left in basin for multiple uses?
I have been using this unit for cleaning 3d printed resin parts. I have it filled with 99% isopropyl alcohol and although the casing of the unit has shown discoloration from the alcohol, i have seen no problem in leaving the unit filled. I have purchased a second one for just water as a second cleaning step to remove the alcohol. I really like the magnasonic cleaner for my more ‘industrial’ uses. I’m sure it will be well suited for milder cleaning solutions.
