Does the program download with the activation key in the mail?
You will receive a card with the activation key on it. Alternatively, if you or order the email version, the key will be emailed to you. In both cases, the product key is redeemed at mcafee.com/activate. As part of the redemption, you will be asked to download the software to your device.
Is it life time?
I understand it is good for one year from install date on the first computer and will protect 4 more pcs, macs, smartphones, or tablets during that time period after installing on them using same product key.
Does this program contain firewall protection?

If i activate one one laptop now, can i activate on a tablet in december and the 1 year subscription work until the folowing december for the tablet?
The o one-year subscription starts with the first activation so your tablet will expire the same time as your laptop.
Will this work for linux. It says it works for macosx. Or do i need to look at the high end mcafee product. I want this for a workstation/pc.
Unfortunately, no. We don’t validate on linux with this product. Our mvision for endpoint supports linux, though. You will need to work with a reseller as we don’t sell that via retail. Please let me know if you have any other questions.
How much is the auto renewal fee? Same as purchase price?
I have found that the amazon price is about half the auto renewal price.
Is that mcafee for 2019?
Yes! This is a 1 year subscription, so will protect you throughout 2019. In fact, our software is constantly being updated as new threats and ways to counter them are discovered. Can this be added to an existing mcafee total protection plan before the plan runs out and how difficult would that be?
Yes, and it’s very easy. Take the code you receive to https://www.mcafee.com/activate and enter it. It will ask you to log into your mcafee account. When you do that, it will recognize you have an account and it will ask if you want to ‘extend your current subscription’ or to begin a new one. As long as you choose to extend, it will add 1 year to your existing expiry date, no matter when that is, and you won’t lose any time. For example, if you are set to expire on april 1, 2020, once you submit a new code, it will now be april 1, 2021. Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Can encrypted storage still be read after subscription ends?
Yes! You can continue to work with files that you have already placed into the encrypted storage vault even after your subscription lapses. However, you will not be able to place any additional files into the vault. Please let me know if i can do anything else.
How soon do i have to activate this card?
I believe you are asking how long you can wait before activating. If so, you can purchase now and hold onto it as long as you like. Your subscription doesn’t begin until you actually activate and you will always receive the latest version, no matter when you purchased. If you are renewing an existing subscription to total protection, you can redeem the code now and it will extend your subscription by 1 year from the current expiration date – you don’t need to wait for it to actually expire. If you are renewing some other security software, including one of our other products, then you will want to wait until your current subscription is about to expire. We give you 30 days after expiration as a grace period so you can ensure you purchase a new security solution. If i misunderstood and you are actually asking if you can install immediately, then absolutely you can install as soon as you receive the code. Is this the 2019 version?
Mcafee software is version-less – meaning whenever you buy the software and for as long as you are a subscriber, you will always have the latest software installed on your system. We are constantly updating the software to protect against the latest threats we have found and to also protect against unknown threats. If you already have a subscription and are asking if this is what you should buy to renew, then yes – this is the latest and can extend you out into 2019. The artwork on the package is our 2018 artwork, but we are not changing for 2019, so this is what you will see next year as well. Please let me know if i can answer anything else for you.

Does this work on lg phones?

Hi, this says it offers 5 devices two of mine are in us and two are in india if i purchase it in usa can i use for my two other device in india ?
Yes! As long as you own the devices, they can all be protected by this software. It doesn’t matter where in the world the devices are. To install on the first device, take the code to https://www.mcafee.com/activate, enter the code and then setup an account with mcafee (you will be prompted to do so). Once that is done, the download and installation should begin. To install onto additional devices, you no longer need that code. Just log into your mcafee account. If you do so from the device you want to protect, you can click on ‘download’ to being installation. If you do it from another device, you can send a text or email to the device you want to protect by clicking on ‘protect more devices’. Then you can click on the link to being the installation. Can you turn off automatic renewal feature on mcafee total protection?
I have never had them do it automatically from the ones i order on-line. They notify you when it’s getting close to needing updates, then i ignore the automatic renewal notices, and input a new update card number.

Some descriptions of mcafee total protection 2021 claim it includes vpn some descriptions say no vpn which is it ?
This version includes vpn as a benefit of signing up for auto-renewal. It doesn’t come standard, but if you sign up for auto-renewal, you will receive it. You will also receive identity theft protection when you sign up for auto-renewal, which will help protect you from theft, monitor the dark web to ensure your identity hasn’t been stolen and then offer remediation services to restore your identity and lost funds. (additional terms apply). While it is more expensive to auto-renew than to purchase from amazon, we believe these benefits provide a very good value. There is also a version of mcafee total protection 10-device that does include vpn without needing to sign up for auto-renewal if you would prefer that. Please let me know if i can help you further.

What is key card
This version of the package comes with a card that has a download code on it. This requires the physical box to be mailed to you. There is a ‘download’ version which means you don’t receive the physical box, but instead receive an email from amazon with the code. In either case, you need to go to https://www.mcafee.com/activate to redeem the code and install the software. Once you have installed on the first device, you will no longer need this code as you install to other devices via the account you will set up with mcafee during the installation process. When requesting key card on mcafee total protection 2021 5 device, it revert to mcafee total protection 2020. Is the 2020 mcafee a mistake.
My key card did not have a date,but when i went to the web address and entered the key code it accepted it and signed me up for 2021
