What is the measurements for the puzzle itself?

3790
product dimensions 2.4 x 5.8 x 7.8 inches
shipping weight 13.6 ounces

What are the pieces made of.

The pieces are made of wood, not cardboard, and are 1/8′ thick.

Are the puzzles in a box the same size when put together as the individual puzzles?

When completed, each individual puzzle is the same size as the other 3 puzzles. Each completed individual puzzle measures 6 3/4′ x 4 1/2′, slightly smaller than the top of the box. You can do each puzzle on the top of the box, it’s pretty cool.

Bought dinosaur puzzle for my son. Is there a way to get a copy of the pictures so he can see what it’s supposed to look like when putting it together

If there isn’t a picture on the box maybe you could help him put it together then you could take a picture of it so then he could use that to see how everything fits together.

Are the puzzles wooden or cardboard?

They are wooden……great little puzzles for little hands and i love the fact my grandson can store them in the box. The box top acts as a little desk for the puzzle they are working on. They are definitely small puzzles but great ones and compact for storing!

Age range

I’d say 3 to 5. Although 3 may be a little young, (my 3 year old grandson can’t do it by himself, but he had no patience whatsoever!), and 5, a little old (my 5 year old grandson does them in one minute!… But they are very different in their development…i think the 5 year old could have done it when he was 3…). So it really depends on the child… 3-4 years old seems the best age range.

Is this one puzzle or all 4 puzzles when you buy?

This has 4 distinct puzzles in it, each around 6’x8′. The box is great for storage and my grandson has lived them. Great for travel too!

Do these puzzle fit in the melissa & doug metal puzzle rack?

I have no idea how the metal puzzle racks are, sorry

How about mentally handicapped kids are puzzles good for them

My brother was mentally handicapped and he absolutely loved to do puzzles. It kept him happy and gave him a sense of accomplishment.

Puzzles for 4 year old

These would probably be a bit too young for a 4 year old, assuming the child has had prior experience with puzzles before. These were mastered fairly quickly by my two year old, within a week or two. A 4 year old who has done any puzzles at all before would likely find this too easy, in my opinion. These are good starter puzzles because they are only 12 pieces each, large enough to make a toddler think but not nearly as complex as the ones that go into the dozens per puzzle.

Are the puzzles and pieces wooden? Are they sturdy?

Hi paul! This set includes four wooden jigsaw puzzles with paper art, stored in a wooden crate. Enjoy!

Does it have a big advertisement plastered onto the bottom like many of m&d’s other toys these days? Or did they go the class route?

The box that i have advertises other puzzles, but also has suggestions for ideas of how to use it in a variety of ways.

What country are the pieces manufactured in?

Made in china, as are most of melissa and doug toys. The product description also displays china as country of origin.

How many pieces are there in one puzzle and how many puzzle sets are there in total in the box ?

There are 4 puzzles per box. Each has a little compartment. Each are cut exactly the same. Each puzzle has 12 pieces each. My grandson hasn’t caught on that each are cut the same. It probably is a good thing for early learning process. He has 2 sets and loves them both. He got them for christmas and is still playing with them. They are probably his favorite puzzles.

Is there any way to get melissa and doug manufactured in the usa?

That question is above me. But maybe you could email melissa and doug and let them know how beneficial it could be for them to take that under consideration.

What size/dimensions are these puzzles?

About 4×6, come in nice wooden box for storage.

May i know why it does not ship to singapore?

Hi! I have changed my settings and you should be able to see the shipping in about 4 hours. Thanks for your question!

What is the appropriate age range for these 4 in 1 puzzles

It would depend totally upon the child and how their cognitive skills have developed. I would think that some two yr olds could successfully work these puzzles. I bought them for my 2 1/2 yr old grandson this past christmas and he can successful work this level of puzzle now. They made need assistance at first, but with continued use they should develop the skill because of the colors and filling in the pictures. Children’s cognitive skills need to be challenged!

Is this brand new and still in a package?

Brand new

Would kids in k – 2 play with them? I’m thinking about donating this to my kids’ school indoor play area for k-2 kids.

My 2 and 4 year olds like them, but i think these are more suitable as ‘quiet box’ material or travel toys for toddlers and preschoolers than for school aged kids, personally. They would still get played with probably but they wouldn’t be very challenging or hold their attention long.

Classics that last

These puzzles are perfect for children ages 4-6. I now have 4 sets of 4; 16 adorable puzzles. I am a teacher and many students have learned skills and had fun with the 2 original sets (animals & vehicles). Now we have construction and dinosaurs too! The backs have shapes to show which puzzles go together in case they get mixed up. The top slides on. All of these features make the puzzles a hit for children learning how to organize and use their fine motor skills.

Love them!

We love these and they’re played with every day! My kiddo is 2.5. The first few times took a lot of work but now he zooms through them. They’re perfect.

Perfect for toddlers!!

Bought this puzzle for my toddler and he loves it. The storage box for all the pieces is incredibly sturdy and the puzzle pieces hold together well.

It's easy and fun

Good size pieces.

Love it

My son love this, i have to buy more patterns because he learnt to build these in no time. He enjoys breaking it apart and building it over. This is easy to break apart and easy to build. Not like the other wooden puzzles i bought that is very hard to break apart and build back. Very good buy.

Must buy for a toddler.

Made of wood. Favorite puzzles for my toddler 2.5 years old. I also buy dinosaur too. Plus pieces are big enough that its not choking hazard for my 9 months old baby crawling around.

5Expert Score
Perfect for busy toddler

I purchased as a gift for my 3 year old grandson and he plays with these regularly. Each puzzle has a specific geometric shape on the back of its individual pieces so sorting them is easy when they get mixed up. The wood box is small and travels well for on the go. I buy a lot of toys for him and these puzzles have remained a top favorite since purchased. I’ve already ordered another set for him.

Mom's will love this puzzle set (and kids too, i guess)

I rate toys using a 3 category system. I look at their entertainment value, durability, and creativity. Every toy needs to keep a child’s attention, be able to stand up to their rough playing, and either promote their creativity or be used to play in creative ways. I’ll start with a short review and then explain my reasons for the rating in detail.

The wooden box and pieces are very durable, although they are small and easy to lose if you don’t keep track of them. The difficulty level of the puzzles are minimal but its still fun for young children because the pictures are cute. With that being said, this puzzle set will be a mom’s favorite because of its ease of storage and the ease of sorting the pieces.

Entertainment:
my daughter is 3 years old and loves puzzles. She can do them for hours and never get bored. When i bought this, entertainment was never in question. She did figure them out very quickly, but she can put together 48 piece puzzles by herself, and needs very little help with 100 piece puzzles, so i didn’t expect that these would be difficult for her, but she still loves to put them together none the less.

Durability:
these are wooden puzzles in a wooden box. You can’t bend them or destroy them. The picture on the top is secured well and doesn’t peel. The box itself is very well made and the sliding top is easy for both my daughter and my 2 year old son to open and close. The only con is how small it is. The pieces are little and its easy for them to slide under the bed or toy box. I have to count the pieces when we put them away to ensure that one has not gone missing. A puzzle missing a piece is not all that fun.

Creativity:
this is where the giant positive comes in. Puzzles promote hand eye coordination, problem solving, and creativity no matter what they are made of or what the picture is. That’s not the reason why i love these puzzles so much, though. Melissa & doug get a huge round of applause for their creativity on this one because of how they made these puzzles.

The box is where i start clapping for melissa & doug. The lid of the box has a lip on it so you can put the puzzle together on the top of it without the pieces sliding off like it would on the coffee table. Its also pretty thick so the pieces separate when you put a new one in its place like it would on carpet. That’s pretty awesome. Also, when you open the box, its divided into 4 sections so you can separate the puzzle pieces into their own little sections when you go to put them away.

Here’s where i shoot up out of my seat for standing ovation. Each puzzle has a red shape stamp assigned to it; a circle, triangle, diamond, or square. Every piece of each puzzle has a stamp on the back of it to identify which puzzle it goes to. So even when the pieces are scattered all around the room, my kids can easily identify which puzzle it goes to and put them away on their own. That’s right, a 2 year old and 3 year old can clean up their own mess. Bravo! Bravo! Encore! Encore!

So in conclusion, i love this puzzle!

Great for toddlers

Great in that it has a curved top lid which upon the puzzles can be assembled. All about animals. Wood, sturdy & fits together just great. Great thing!

Great little puzzles

Great puzzle for a 2- year old. The box is nice for gifting, but hard to open/close even for an adult so we store the pieces in tupperware.

4Expert Score
It could be better

Its little difficult to put back the puzzle. Corners are not sitting in one another.
It came with a box, nice to have.

4Expert Score
Should have included a full size picture of the puzzles….

…or at least one page with all pictures on it. The only pictures of the puzzles are on the side of the box – tiny 1” x 1/2” or on the bottom of the box – only slightly bigger. 2” x 1”. You have to turn the puzzle box over to see the back which defeats the “work the puzzle on the box” feature. My 3 year old was good at actually working the puzzles with a little help but frustrating to not see a picture of the completed puzzle while working. The top picture is actually a puzzle, when you open it you take it apart.

The whole set is tiny, about 6 1/2” x 4 1/2”. It’s shown with a hot wheels car for comparison.

Very good gift! Not best quality

This was a super cute gift my son loves puzzles! The puzzles aren’t very durable and don’t fit together all that well but he loves to still do them!

Very good puzzle for beginners

My son never liked to do jigsaw puzzle. But, i got the vehicles one and he is very interested to work on it. He’ll usually run away if he doesn’t get it in first 2 attempts. But, for this one he sat patiently and did it. Only thing is if it has a big picture of each puzzle it will be good for kids to look at it and work on the puzzle.

Home run fun for our autistic 4 year old vehicle crazy boy! M&d puzzles are the best!

My son is 4 and he’s getting really into jigsaw puzzles (the step up from the puzzles with a picture underneath or a shape cutout). We have probably 8 melissa and doug puzzles, and while we like some better than others, they’re all very well made and fun. This set of 4 is no exception! Here’s what’s great about it:

– quailty. That’s something i’ve come to rely on with melisa and doug and they don’t disappoint with this one. I would say it’s a small step down in terms of quality from some of their others, but really, for the price you pay, what you get is really great! The wood box is well made, the pieces are not flimsy and the pictures don’t peel up at the corners of the pieces like many puzzles.
– four puzzles in one small box! My boy is obsessed with vehicles (particularly trains) so this was perfect. This set has a train, a fire truck, a school bus and a race car. Little boy heaven.
– easy enough and with few enough pieces that my 4 year old (who also happens to be autistic and gets easily frustrated and gives up when things are too hard) can do these with little help.
– probably my favorite part about this puzzle is something i was stressing about from the moment i saw it. I was envisioning my boy dumping all the pieces out at once and me having a horrible time trying to sort which piece goes with which picture and in which compartment. Fortunately the clever people at melissa and doug thought of that and put a different red shape on the back of every single puzzle piece so you can easily figure out which go together based which have a circle, which have a square etc. That actually makes for fun clean up because it involves sorting! Nice work m&d!
– the lid also serves as a removable puzzle building frame with plenty of room to work. While these puzzles can easily be assembled without the backing (as long as you’re doing it on a hard surface like the table or wood floor), it’s nice to have that feature.
– portability! There are very few activities that our son enjoys that don’t involve noise. The few toys we have that can keep him occupied for a while are precious and even fewer of them are portable. This is a very small box and is something that would easily fit in a backpack or diaper bag as long as the diaper bag isn’t overly full. I have one word: church. We take this to church and let the boy go to town at our feet with these puzzles in front of the pew. People can judge away, but the fact that we’re even there each week with an autistic 4 year old is a miracle and takes some serious dedication, haha!

All in all i think these are darling little puzzles, perfect for a 4 year old (or 2 or 3 year old depending on how much of a puzzle prodigy they are)! See my pics for an idea of what they all look like put together and also next to another melissa and doug jigsaw puzzle that is bigger and was sold individually.

Let me start off by saying that i absolutely love melissa and doug products; you may even call me obsessed with the amount of products i have that are made by them.

This puzzle set is the only product by m&d that i have ever been disappointed with. My problem was i bought it for my 2, almost 3 year old daughter who loves the puzzle itself, but the first time we opened it up, so much wood chips and dust came out. Luckily we opened it over my dark colored couch so it was visible for me to vacuum up right away because it could have easily blended into my carpet and gave us splinters. It wasn’t just fine pieces of wood chips either; there were a few pretty big pieces and i felt it was a little sketchy for my daughter to play with.
Being that the compartments that the puzzle pieces are stored in got jumbled probably during shipping, the pieces were mixed up inside the box so i did like that each of the puzzle pieces have a shape on the back so you know which pieces go together (since there are 4 separate puzzles in this set).
The lid to this box, while easy for a child to remove, will not stay shut. As my daughter uses it as like a framing to put the puzzles together, the lid is constantly slipping off, and sometimes creating more wood debris. The pieces are cut so precisely that they are also quite difficult to put together and take apart sometimes.

Don’t get me wrong, my daughter absolutely loves this set and it’s a great starter puzzle for a toddler but there were just a few too many flaws for me to love this as much as i love the rest of my m&d products.
