Midea MRC050S0AWW Chest Freezer, 5.0 Cubic Feet, White

My husband is a very good fisherman. Every time we opened the kitchen freezer vacuum packed packages of fish/crab would tumble out. He would start swearing and i decided to surprise him with this freezer. It arrived well packed/protected with no dents anywhere. Cut the tape on the bottom and the whole carton top lifts off. I put it where i wanted it, not heavy, and let it sit two hours as instructed. Plugged the freezer in and started right up and was cold quickly. I purchased the wenzbros 16inch freezer wire storage baskets (3) from amazon and those fit perfectly. Now the different types of fish are organized/dated in each basket and easily accessible. There is still room for one if not two more baskets as well as the one that came with the freezer. Also it is so quiet! We are both happy with this little freezer.

Light enough to receive, unpack and place on your own. Small enough to move through doorways and tight turns. Gets cold and stays cold. Have the thermostat set to maybe half of full and when i open it, temperature consistently reads as zero f. Also runs very quietly. Internal dimensions are sufficient to probably store 4 to 6 weeks worth of frozen foods for a single person, if not more.

Basically after about a month i am very happy with the product.

We got this model because it fits in an existing space in the basement. That space looks like was designed for this type of appliance. If you have it delivered make sure you provide guidance and set expectations. The delivery guys are looking for their own efficiency, so it is expected they will interpret anything you say as the way out fir them. In our case i got a phone call from the gentleman on the driveway, i told him i will meet him in the garage. My intention was to provide instructions for the next leg of the delivery form there. Toy surprise, by the time i got to the garage the freezer was already abandoned there. I should have said ‘delivery in the basement through the garage. I will meet you in the garage.’

Bought this to start storing some larger amounts of meat. It was delivered on time with no damage. I let it sit for a few hours to ensure it settled, then plugged it in.

It cooled down quickly and was usable in less than an hour.

Shortly after we started using it, we lost power for 8 hours. The meat was fine and still completely frozen. The cheat was also still cold.

I recommend this unit to anyone who has limited space and wants a no-hassle freezer.

Seems like in the reviews, the only unhappy have to do with damage in shipping. I took a chance, and got a winner. Box was in great shape. Unboxed, cabinet in perfect condition. Set up easy, plugged in and she got to work. It’s very quiet and silent more than a 10 feet away. Very happy. Will update if issues arise, but so far, very happy with purchase.

I love this for my breast milk. Great for food also tho. It was inexpensive and high quality! I put it in my kitchen!

It’s very light weight and works well. One of the best features is that you can’t even hear it running. I recommend this product for singles or people living in smaller houses or apts because of its compact size.

You can never go wrong with purchasing an appliance which allows you to store food. Having gone through the plandemic, along with high food costs, one can strategically plan on sales. I was fortunate that my 5.0 freezer arrived within 2 days and in perfect condition. I highly recommend this unit

Freezer was received in very timely manner. Unfortunately it was damaged. The back side as, seen in picture, has a large crease running from top to bottom. Also, minor dents in top and lower front. Dents don’t seem to have affected the function. The manual is completely useless as it is written in spanish and i don’t read in spanish. But that didn’t matter anyway as it was the wrong manual. Had to download correct ,english manual from internet. I don’t know how i would return this for an undamaged one as the shipping carton was destroyed when we remove the freezer. Yellow energyguide tag estimates it only uses $26 in electricity per year. It’s a nice size for small spaces; just enough to store all of my gormet pelosi ice cream. Seems to be working great so i guess i’ll just keep it.

This is a small freezer, suitable for extending your fridge’s freezer space. It’s inefficient to run compared to other similar freezers, estimated at $30 a year. If it saves you 10 trips to costco a year, it’s well worth it.

At the middle setting, it holds a temperature of -5f which is good as my target is 0f. It’s a non-standard width. If you look on amazon you will see freezer racks are normally 16.5′ handle-to-handle. This freezer is 17′ for some reason, so i had to ‘stretch’ the rack i bought. I did this by standing on one handle and pulling up on the other.

Overall i would recommend it.

A terrific little freezer. Got us through the lockdown. Never had any issues. Broke down yesterday. The little guy served us well. Got our money’s worth. Strong recommmend.

So far so good. Was dented in shipping but still functional.

Arrived according to schedule via ups. The packaging did not show any signs of damage however upon unboxing i noticed a small dent on the lower right front corner. I haven’t plugged the unit in yet as the instructions indicate that this should not be done for 2 hours. I do not plan on returning the unit if it works as it should.

Fyi the instructional manual states green light will go on. Well in the model i was sent mrco50soaww as is 5.0 cubic feet there is no green light. That being said in order to register the model you are suppose to text picture of sales receipt to company as per instructions alone with the green light must be on before adding food. Dumb, as no receipt coming from amazon. I plugged unit in at 11 am and when i returned at 1:30 pm it was really cold and running quietly. I’m just saving you a call to somewhere in the far east.

This freezer is working well, despite getting a little banged up in shipping. It got here quickly and it’s keeping my stuff frozen at 9deg f with very little energy use. I do recommend that they reinforce the bottom of the shipping carton a little better, two bottom corners were dented where it must have been dropped a couple of times.

I just got this today, so i plan to update more later after i have used it a while. The amazon delivery people left it more than 20 feet from my back door, so know that you are going to getting this bad boy to the house and into the house by yourself. Since the box says what is in it, you dare not risk leaving it outside unless you want someone to take it home with them, ‘look, honey, a new freezer! Let’s pull up and load it into the car.’ anyway, the listings for how much it holds are greatly exaggerated. It holds what your normal fridge freezer holds and nothing more than that. It is the exact same amount of interior space. So i moved the big turkey into the bottom. The turkey barely fit in, but did with some finagling. It is not a large bird. So i’m moving most of my meat in here, though i can’t find container that will fit it. I thought a dishpan would work but it is too small to hold a dish pan. Just know that. Right now i’ll just put the food in fabric grocery bags and at least that way it is sorted (beef, chicken, vegetables, fish) so i won’t have to get in and out of it too often. Do not get the 3.5 size, get at least the next size up, 5.0. I didn’t because the cost was out of my budget. I’m grateful to have a freezer, don’t get me wrong, but had i ordered a month ago, i could have gotten the next size up for $30 less than what i paid for this scrawny freezer. Oh, the weight: 42 pounds, not 48 as listed on the description. The height is about counter height, less than 2 feet wide, less than 2 feet deep. Good thing the weight wasn’t any more than it was or i could not have gotten it in the house. I will update after i have used it a while.

I like this unit very much. No noise level. Very happy with the unit, however i gave it only a four star because it came with a dent on the side, i needed the unit and didn’t want to go through the process of trying to put it in the box that i torn up to be able to get out without lifting.
