Has anyone switched from a non synthetic to this? If so were there any issues?
I don’t work for or represent any company. I’m just a retired old engineer who really likes this product. I successively converted 2 large 4-stroke motorcycles to synthetic oil many years ago during my ‘misspent youth’ period. In 2010, i bought a used 2006 chevy silverado (5.3liter, iron-block v8, 48,000miles) which had 1,200 hrs actual engine run-time using non-synthetic 5w-30 oil (not sure about exact brand or type). I switched right away to ‘mobil 1 extended performance synthetic oil’ & a ‘k&n hp-1007 oil filter’. I’ve used this combination since then, replacing oil and filter once a year for 7 years so far. The truck has run more smoothly, and worked perfectly with regard to lubrication with no issues. The service manager at a large chevy dealer here told me that the best protocol is to change the oil to one of the ‘mobil 1 synthetic’ types, providing a good new oil filter once a year, but do not go back from synthetic to non-synthetic oil (i’m not sure exactly why, but just don’t do it). It’s a good idea to check with the dealer/or manufacturer of your vehicle/or a good mechanic you trust about the conversion before you make it. Be sure to use the correct weight of oil, and the best oil filter you can get. It might be a good idea to use a mobil 1 filter designed for their oil, considering jeremy’s thoughtful comment below regarding molecule size. If you make the change, i bet you’ll be glad you did. Good luck. I hope this helps you and/or someone else out there in the uber-twitter-cyberium-continuum.

What are our customers saying?
You may think it crazy and absurd ordering motor oil from amazon but a person’s got to do when it’s simply convenient. Our local costco here in the city stopped selling mobile one and having to drive to any of the local automobile stores is not only inconvenient but you have to put up with snotty kids with attitude. Prices charged on amazon are decent so you never overpay once you get the final order over $25. What makes this particular oil amazing is the fact i have a 17 year old toyota which is used only make doctor’s appointments and short hops to local places here in the city. As a result i never put more than 3k miles in the course of a year. Oil changes are performed in alternating years…..yes alternating years! Book value is insultingly low however i keep it around just for these purposes. So far it worked for me these 15 years since i retired. Can i have the oil changed by others? Yes but why pay hard earned bucks not knowing what kind of bulk oil is used when i can get the job done in 10 minutes or less knowing it’s completed properly …. Overtighted drain plug are avoided, oil filter cartridge isn’t overtightened with a breaker bar, and all the remaining fluids are validated to be topped off. There’s got a be a reason why mobile clearly states this oil can be used in extended drain intervals!
I have been using mobile one extended oil on all my four cars and i can tell you this is the best oil i ever used, the price is good and you can actually drive 18,000 to 20,000 miles on this oil, my 2003 tahoe has 190,000 miles and i have actually drove 20,000 miles with the mobile extended filter and nothing happened, oil was dark but still liquified to lubricate vital engine parts and i use it on my wife’s 2014 acadia and i ran it with 16,000 miles on the oil before changing it and the engine still runs good.
My friend in high school referred mobile 1 full synthetic motor oil to me when i bought my 2nd car for brand new. I had always used mobile 1 from then on for every 5000 miles oil change. Now i am on my 6th car so far, my current vehicle has over 120k miles, and i’m using mobile 1 all the time. I am switching from economy synthetic motor oil 0w20 to high mileage 0w20. Let’s see how the result is after i switched. Amazon has the best price so far. Inflation has increased motor oils in every retailers except amazon online. Overall i love shopping on amazon for motor oils.
Recommended oil changes on my cars are at 10,000 miles. I change mine every 5,000, so i couldn’t say if it really lasts 10,000. I do think the engine runs slightly quieter with this oil than with cheaper ones. Improvement in mileage is probably too small to be noticed without careful measurement. I think the small extra expense is worth it if the car lasts a bit longer.
I like this oil and i usually pair it with either a mobil1 oil filter or a long life very efficient fram xg oil filter. We use this oil up to 20,000 miles or one year in some cars that see lots of highway, but in others that have turbocharger and see a good many stop and go miles, we will change oil and filter at 10,000 miles. Later these engines have over 200,000 miles and still do not use or leak oil. Has saved me lots of time and money over the years!
I use synthetic in my pressure washer, walk behind mower, and my lawn tractor. This was a good value and i’ve never had a lubrication issue in any of my small engines. Like many folks, i only change the oil when it gets really dirty. Synthetic is a little more expensive, but the small engines take very little oil.
Desde que compre el auto nada mas le pongo el aceite mobil 1 y la verdad que ayuda mucho a que el auto ruede y cuide el motor mucho mejor
If you dont mind waiting a few weeks for a shipment, this is a bargain for the price.
Was a huge savings over retail (ie my local parts stores) and the seller shipped it several weeks sooner than expected perfect perfect perfect
Came safely, but was delivered a little slow. I use mobil 1 extended performance oil in my jeep wrangler sahara jl and my kia soul ex. Provides year long protection at a fair price. Always provides proper levels of protection. Don’t see myself changing to a different brand of oil anytime soon.
Normally use pennzoil platinum or valvoline max life but neither was available at a normal price. After changing the oil in my old 2000 durango it immediately began to tap and knock which doesn’t occur using my normal brands. I added zinc to the oil and the tapping and knocking to began to subside within a few minutes. It returns when i’m parked downhill in my driveway, then it taps and knocks until the truck is level. Again this is the only brand of oil this happens with.
I used this for the first time in my 2 v6 grand cherokees (2013 &2016) and they both run fine with it.
Am draining the mobil 1 out of my old truck and fefilling with pennzoil platinum as soon as it’s delivered. Will probably save it and use to top off as my truck takes 6 qts, the jugs only hold 5 and this oil has less than 500 miles on it
do not recommend for older v8 engines without a zinc additive, it just doesn’t maintain old pressure
Mobil 1 has a good reputation – i trust the quality to be good. I have never had an oil analysis done, so trust in the brand name is paramount. That’s why i gave it 4 stars – 5 stars needs an oil analysis for definitive proof.
I received my package by hand from our incredible ups lady (not sarcasm, she’s the best), only to open it and find oil soaking the inside of the box. Wiped them off and check the level and they were about equal but then i found the crack on the inside of one of the handles. So i skipped lunch and did an oil change to empty it. I usually buy mobile 1 synthetic for most of my vehicles and this is the first time i’ve had it happen. I could choose to be dramatic and ask for a refund, but i’ll just mention it to see if this gets some traffic to know whether it’s more common than i expect.
I am very picky with my oil and typically only go for royal purple but this stuff is great for the ride with a price tag to compare.
Was what i needed, same price as store, fast shipping
I have used mobil 1 since it first came out. Great product. Shipping however needs improvement. Order placed august 2nd and finally came today, august 25th..
Use on my old car and makes it run better
Seems to be like any quality oil.
Come on oil is oil
what more do you want me to say
Mobil1 is the industry standard for value on synthetic oil. This is what th ebook called for on my my09 mercedes benz gl450.
