Looking for specific info?

Is the arm removable

Yes! The arm is removable, as well as can be attached on either side of the throwing wheel to accommodate left and right handed persons.

How big can the sculptures be?

The base of your sculpture is limited by the wheel size, but by removing the arm the height really has no limit.

Can this be used to make miniature pots and cups for a miniature dollhouse?

This was my worst purchase of 2021. I was so excited for to get this for a christmas present for my daughter. She could not get it to work, then we could not get it to work. Think of it as a play prop for 4-year-old and not something you actually make pottery on despite all the pictures. You’re better off buying the clay and using your hands to make something or pay another $100 for a real pottery wheel setup.

Can you use super sculpy baking clay with this and then bake your finished product?

Yes you can use polymer clay on our national geographic kid’s pottery wheel, but we highly recommend doing a little research first, as any sculpey clay is quite delicate and may be harder to clean off the wheel grooves which can affect future throws.

I definitely recommend

My 7 year old daughter has wanted to try her hand at a pottery wheel so thats what we did for christmas. I was a little worried that the motor wouldn’t be very strong and that it wouldnt be the best quality but i’m impressed. It has two speeds, guide pieces to help little hands find the center and open the top of the pot, and works really well. When i opened it, i thought t was a bit small but it turned out to be perfect for her. Even my larger hands were able to get creative with it. This is great for young kids wanting to try something new and has a lot of potential for a lot of play. I do suggest that you buy extra clay because there are only a few pots worth included.

So fun!

I’ve been watching the great pottery showdown, and i really wanted to try out the wheel. So cool to have found a kid friendly one try out. My kiddos were excited to try it with me. We had so much fun getting messy. Such an awesome toy to experience throwing at the wheel!

Great family activity

Even though it is recommend for 8 + age. My whole family love this new toy. It is so much fun . It is not as fast as a regular pottery wheel, but definitely good enough use at home. The patented integrated arm is very helpful for my five year old and 4 year old to make the pot hole. My husband actually made one on his own with the integrated arm as well. It helps to build our family relationship better. I am able to make a pottery without the arm since i had experience before. I do wish they have more speed option for people with more experience.

Love it!

Absolutely amazing. Sound is low. Good motor speed. I had 4 boys and 2 adults use this for a class and the motor kept up with all the abuse. Easy clean up. Very much worth the money. I would say this is good for kids, beginners and people that dont want to invest hundreds.

A fun kit that can produce pretty good pottery

Tried this out with 9 year old daughter and took a few tries to get a decent result. Like other reviewers, getting the clay to stick to the platform is key. I even went so far as to mush the heck out of it to the surface so it was as stuck as can be. The clay it comes with isn’t very fresh, so that doesn’t help one bit. I’m sure this would be an overall much easier experience if you buy some fresh clay. Clay really needs an adult to knead it and you should definitely add water to get it the right consistency so it doesn’t just crack apart when turning it. Aside from that, easy to use, directions are decent, assembly a snap. Great gift overall.

Great intro for kids, tools are off center for more involved work

Strong enough to handle some pressure, the shaping tools on the arm are not centered and always create slightly off center forms. Fine for a kids’ project that aren’t very thin/complex.

Can be a bit tricky to center clay

Very young children are going to need assistance getting clay centered. Has great directions and i like the history about clay that they included and the interesting facts. The clay is very lightweight. It helps to wet the bottom first and then press in to get it to stick properly. I’m used to using a metal wheel, so the plastic wheel is a little more challenging. The grandchildren love using it and were able to throw a few items. This is good practice until i get them different clay and get them on my larger wheel. Overall this appears very safe to use, but i would still suggest supervision. The wheel can get spinning pretty fast. The short cord presents a bit of a problem. We had to use it on the floor because we could not reach the table from the outlet. Comes with a cute apron and sturdy tools. We actually found it easier and more fun to use without the centerpiece arm. Simple to move around. Quick clean up, most of the time. It actually took a couple days to dry completely but we have a lot of moisture here. The paints are easy to use and a great selection of fun colors. Wonderful gift that’s an easy setup.

Great

This is more than just a fun toy – it’s essentially everything you need to try your hand at pottery. The cutting and shaping tools are helpful and the wheel turns smoothly, with no hesitation.

My 8 year old son loved making his first small vessel with the included air dry clay. My college aged daughter also enjoyed working with him on another project.

Be prepared for a mess, but it’s worth it. Happy with it.

Fun for kids and adults

Got this for my almost 9 year old at his request. So far, it’s worked out really well. It’s obviously a very basic and simple starter kit, nothing like the actually pottery wheel i learned on in art class in high school. But he’s enjoyed using it and made some pretty decent little items with it. For the price, it’s a good purchase for an artistic kid who wants to try their hand at pottery!

Good for beginners

I got this for my daughter, but we both are enjoying it. I never knew how much we would enjoy making pottery together. I like the arm guide; it helps a lot. The wheel doesn’t spin fast which is good because i could imagine the clay flying off the wheel with my daughter shaping it.
Great gift idea and something to enjoy with the family.

Just opened it after getting it for christmas for my daughter. One of the clay packages was properly sealed in the bag. The other was placed in a plastic baggy with a hair tie strapped around it….:
