We got this for our 10+ year old large breed dog, as she was having difficulty with her joints as she is getting older. She would move so slowly some days and you could tell she was in pain. Her vet suggested finding a supplement…the one he suggested had something she was allergic to in it, so we found this one which was similar, but did not have any ingredients she was allergic to. We cannot believe the difference it has made in her! She is definitely moving so much better and does not seem to be in any pain. You must follow the directions on the bottle…there is a dosage for the first 4-6 weeks (we did 6 weeks), then you can decrease to the maintenance dose based on your dog’s weight. She has been on it for about a year now and she is doing great!!! Another note – she loves the taste and takes them like a treat. Highly recommend!!!

I have an aging gsd who’s nearly 10 and a while back he started having trouble getting up in the morning as well as going up and down the steps to the back yard. My husband and i had heard good things about cosequin from a couple of friends and read the reviews here so we purchased a bottle of tablets. We started with 2 tablets a day – one in the morning and one in the evening – spaced 12 hour apart. Within about 5 days we started seeing a big difference in our pet’s ease of movement. After a couple of weeks, he was so much more playful and energetic. We kept him on the 2 tablet regimen for about a month and then dropped him down to 1 tablet with his breakfast with no decrease in movement or activity. Our gsd has now been taking cosequin for more than a year and we’ve been very happy with the results. He even likes the taste.

My very arthritic dog absolutely loves these! He stopped, going up and down the stairs for about a year and having trouble walking around on the main floor. After visiting the vet and talking about options, she recommended a product like this. After looking at many reviews, i had to get this. We are going on month three and my dog now can go up and down the stairs and he never has to be left alone in the main floor when we all go to bed. It was so hard to listen to him cry on the main floor when we all went upstairs to bed. He was too heavy to carry. Now, i have a happy dog who can go up and down the stairs like he used to.

I give about three a day to my dog along with his food and i’ve noticed a big difference. He was hit when he was puppy by a car and it broke his back in three places. One disconnected his tail from his spine, and the other two places his back is cemented together. Due to this he’s always been very stiff and he’s about six and a half now. I know he’ll have a lot of joint issues when he’s older but these have definitely helped and i had started them after my sister who’s a vet assistant recommended them to me. He was randomly yelping from pain in his joints and back and that’s completely stopped after he started using these. He’s back to jumping around and running and playing all under close supervision of course because of his issues but i would highly recommend this even if your dog doesn’t have the same issues mine does. It’s a great preventative thing and it never hurts to have a bit more help for the joints.
He also loves the taste of them so that’s a big bonus!

This product was recommended by my vet because my dog suffers from hip dysplasia. We give him a tablet after dinner every night and he hasn’t had to be on any pain meds and his legs are doing great. He’s 12 years old australia cattle dog mix and he still plays with our other beagle mix 1 year old dog. We’re going to start giving this med to her when she turn about 3. This is a great supplement for dogs. Worth every penny.

We started giving these to our dog once she started having hip issues. I can put them on the ground in front of her and she eats them right away. We have not made it though the first month but from reading other reviews they work.

My picky 12 yr old dog takes them without cream cheese or peanut butter. She can jump on the sofa now without issues. We can tell that they have made a difference in her pain and range of motion.

My senior dog has slight arthritic problems, one day after one tablet cut in half in her dinner, and she is more active and jumps, more. The change is some thing we have noticed a couple of times when we have run out of these tablets.

Found out my dog has a hip displacement so the vet recommended starting her on joint supplements. So far so good? Can’t tell the difference yet. Guessing it tastes good cuz my dog always look forward to this every morning like she’s getting a treat lol.

I have a pitbull he’s about 100 pounds he has a very sensitive stomach so using the actual dosage gives him the runs so i just give him one every other day and i have noticed a difference for sure! Plus he absolutely loves them it’s just like a treat for him he’s so excited to eat it so i would say they pass the taste check too

I can’t tell if it’s a pain reliever since he’s on other meds for that, but my vet did recommend for joint lubrication and he is coming along well for his age!! He’s still limping but the doc said it will take a while since he’s older

Not sure if this product is helping or not, but i just bought a 250 ct bottle so will keep giving it to my old man. He eats them with his food no complaints so it must taste decent enough for him. He’s 5 days shy of 14 years old, he gets daily 1 mile walks. Like i mentioned, not sure if it’s helping, but i will continue to give it to him just in case it is!

Ease to swallow as it is chewable. My dog has been taking it for more than 5 weeks. I hope her luxation gets better soon

Although i can’t guarantee my dog won’t die from electrocution as long as his love affair with chargers continues, i try my best to keep him healthy in all other aspects. Issue tackled this mission: joint health.

I eventually settled on cosequin joint support.

Around her 9th birthday, my nightly walks with my akita sam became less of a ritual and more of a need to go basis, and her visits to my room upstairs became less frequent. Since this was a long term problem and heavy medication would take a toll on her health, i decided to look for other options.

It took all of six weeks of the initial period for me to see the effects, but she was noticeably more active and had an easier time going to the bathroom. In her case, the supplement was used as a combative measure for her existing joint damage.

After sam passed away, i became the servant of oscar the newf. As he is in the process of growing into a horse, he has noticeable growing pains, which are common in giant breeds. He started taking cosequin when he was seven months old. In his case, cosequin is being used as a preventative for future joint damage, and the jury is still out on the verdict of its effectiveness.

This is not a painkiller. It will provide support, but oscar had to take anti-inflammatory meds for a little while to reduce inflammation and pain that was already there.

Here are a few tips on administering these giant pills:
the newf is a garbage can and will eat anything, but my akita was very picky and i needed to make them as appealing as possible. I found that a bit of peanut butter or chicken broth on top does the trick. My neighbor also gives half a pill to his elderly yorki. He soaks it in hot water to melt it and she eats it right up. Just another way to fool your pooch.

True to my thrifty nature, i try to find the most affordable products. While a pack of 250 pills at a cost of 54.99 usd might seem expensive, each pill comes out to about 0.22 usd. The maximum dose for a dog over 60 lbs is two pills, which comes out to around 0.44 usd per day. Overall not an overly expensive supplement.

Although i’ve never had any issues with indigestion in my dogs, i know others have. It’s important to let your dog get used to the new addition to their diet. In my experience, this usually takes about a week. If the bad reaction persists after then, or your dog has a severe reaction to the supplement, it’s better to take them off of it sooner rather than later and look for other options.
