Is there a reason why the 5 lb is so much thicker than the 2 lb? I tried the 2 lb, liked it, and order 5…outside of jug seems the same…
What is the flavor difference between extreme milk chocolate and double rich chocolate?
I bought both flavors and tried exactly 1 scoop in 7 ounce of water each. I mixed both with a cup and spoon and mixing the extreme chocolate took only a few seconds with very little effort. The other took about 3 minutes to desolve as much as the other. I tried book side by side and the double chocolate tasted so watered down and a bit bitter that i need to force myself to drink it. Then, i drank the extreme chocolate and the drink was smooth and sweet. Finally, a protien shake i could drink with pleasure.
Hoped that helps you and others reading this!

What are our customers saying?
I’ve read various info about being a diabetic and consuming protein powder so i might just chill on the protein powder use until i can get my diabetes under control. I know some times kidneys can have a hard time with releasing protein in the urine. Which is supposed to be bad. With that said. The taste is very good. None of that chalky taste or a bitter after taste like some powders. One reason i avoid stevia or aspartame sweetened products. It mixes well so that’s a plus. No blender is even needed. Just a shaker will do. Over all i would give this a recommendation if someone is just seeking quality whey protein added to their diet. Whey usually ranks very high among various types of protein. There’s not many nutrients in this stuff but this is a protein supplement that anyone can use. For that extra energy or building muscle. Any thing in between. It’s an isolate so it shouldn’t bother your stomach like some of the whey protein powder can.
This is the best way to get that much needed protein after training so hard.. I’ve tried (i can’t think of exactly how many different protein powders, but trust me) a lot of different brands offering many different flavors, at various price points.. And i am not getting paid to promote this stuff.. Maybe i should try, though (lol) but this protein powder is just flat out delicious.. I used to have to talk myself into ‘shake’ time.. I’d get all ready to chase my shake with a bite of something that didn’t taste as bad.. It was getting pretty bad for a minute there.. And then, ‘ahhhh!’ (angel choir) i found o.n.’s bomb ass secret powder.. Full disclosure! I have only tried the ‘vanilla ice cream’ flavor. This is (obvi) the first flavor i tried from optimum nutrition and there was no need to look any further! And this is the most amazing part- i have got no idea how they made it taste that good and it’s only got like 4 grams of carbs in a serving.. Just the best!!
My husband & son have tried a lot of whey proteins that are on the market. This is the winner. This is preferred although my son likes the strawberry & vanilla varieties as well. If chocolate is sold out those are substitutes. The price on amazon fluctuates so i often find at walmart a little cheaper.
I’ve tried only 3 protein powders in my life, and this one takes the cake for sure! No, i’m not sponsored. I take vanilla almond milk, the vanilla ice cream powder, and some fiber powder and mix it up. It reminds me of a shake that has melted, and it mixes well without a blender, so that’s amazing. Just buy it!
This protein powder is really worth it because of its price and amount of servings also not to mention all of the ingredients. The flavor is a good 8/10 and it blends really well in the shaker bottle i have. So i really recommend you get this protein powder.
I used nitrotech before this and it doesn’t taste as good as that and not that thick either. Probably won’t buy again but does the job. Mixing also takes more effort that nitrotech
I loved this vegan protein to add to my daily oats and pancakes for my allergic daughters.
Flavor is simple, fluffy to mix in anything.
Great to my nutrition
Strawberries and cream 1/5 flavor can’t believe i got through that.
Extreme milk chocolate 4/5 tastes like cold hot chocolate.
Do not blend this if you drink arent making a smoothie. The froth is absolutely awful when you blend it. Shaking it works perfectly fine and it has no clumps.
we all know that whey protein works. It’s one of the cheapest and most convenient ways to reach your protein goals if you can’t get there with meals. ‘cheaping out’ on your whey doesn’t always pan out, as anyone who has choked down a less expensive (but clumpy) tub of protein. Paying top dollar doesn’t always guarantee positive results either. I’ve had some ‘premium’ protein that i didn’t care for because while it mixed great, it tasted terrible! I always seem to come back to on whey protein because it fits the bill on all accounts (at least for me).
it’s got whey! (hey!). Around 24g of protein per scoop (~31g) you get a fair amount of protein, with the rest left over for ‘other stuff’. The ‘other stuff’ being 1g of fat and 3g of carbs, with one gram of those carbs coming from sugar. All this is from one label that i found (chocolate malt flavor), but if you look around the net at other labels of this product, you’ll see slightly different numbers. What’s up with that? The variance is most likely due to the many different flavors on has on the market. The flavor will also affect what sweetener is used, as i have seen acesulfame potassium and sucralose (better known as the brand name splenda) both alone and in combination depending on the flavor. It’s good to be aware that this variance exists, but for most it shouldn’t matter too much. I’m sure you can find other whey’s with a tighter carb/sugar/fat/protein ratio, so if you’re micromanaging your macros you might be concerned. But overall i think it’s pretty good.
On the topic of artificial sweeteners: i feel that artificial sweeteners are safe for the most part. Some people might disagree, but much of the clinical literature i have read (regarding aspartame, saccharine, and sucralose specifically) has indicated that they are safe in most people. Most problems i have heard are that people have trouble digesting large amounts of the stuff and get diarrhea. However, i feel that they are better than the amount of sugar (i.e., empty calories) it takes to achieve a similar sweetness. These are just my own thoughts and opinions, so use your best judgment.
here is where a protein powder can really shine, in my opinion. With upwards to 24 different flavors, you’re bound to find one that you like. I’ve tried a handful of them and they were great. My go-to has been the double rich chocolate, as i can add some peanut butter to it if i want to add some more calories/make it taste even better. I would recommend that you pick a flavor that you really like before investing in a 10lb bag (strawberry got old after a while).
on’s whey always mixes easily and cleanly in both milk and water, with very little (if any) clumpage. The labeling states that you can stir it up with a spoon, but i recommend sticking to a good ol’ shaker bottle. Full marks here.
dosing is easy peasy, just scoop up however much you need. One scoop per serving is pretty standard for most powders, with 24g per serving being normal as well.
i can state with great certainty that on’s protein is effective. Working in the field that i do, some jobs in the past have had me working 12 hours a day with no breaks. Oftentimes, this would be my only source of protein (and sometime my only source of nutrition, period). Despite these conditions i was still able to hit my daily protein goals. I did have some digestive issues when i first started supplementing protein, but that was mostly because i made such a drastic change in my eating habits. Those have long since subsided, and my gut bacteria enjoy processing my protein without complaint.
Also, labdoor.com (an independent supplement testing lab) gave on’s gold standard 100% whey protein an a-. I feel that the ‘minus’ comes from the inclusion of artificial sweeteners, which labdoor.com marks as ‘controversial’. As i’ve said previously, i feel these claims are overstated.
the best value is to buy in bulk, and on offers a whopping 10lb bag for around $110 on amazon. That averages out to about 75 cents a serving, so i feel that i’m getting my money’s worth. The most commonly carried size by most brick-and-mortar stores is the 5lb tubs, but sizes go all the way down to a 1.8lb package if you aren’t a monster consumer like myself. Do note that not all flavors are carried in all sizes, as the 10lb bags are limited to around 5 flavors.
you might experience some cramping if you’re new to supplementing protein, but that’s usually because your body is getting used to processing protein in such a large bolus. It should pass fairly quickly. For those that still have problems, you might have issues processing whey in general. I have heard of people having success in switching to other protein sources such as soy in these cases.
if you want a whey protein that is affordable, mixes well, tastes great, and works, look no further. While you can probably find some other whey’s with a slimmer carb profile, it won’t beat on’s gold standard by much. Highly recommended.
Flavors are descent, not too sweet, i’ve tried the double chocolate and the chocolate peanut butter so far
Milk chocolate is good and i generally like gold standard protein but the peanut butter chocolate is disgusting. It doesn’t even resemble the taste of peanut butter. There is not even a derivative of peanut butter in the ingredients. Just tastes like a chemically laden failed lab experiment to create a peanut butter flavor.
I really like this brand of whey protein. I have figured out that there is a difference in the flavors and mixing quality. The extreme milk chocolate does not mix as smoothly as the vanilla ice cream. The vanilla doesn’t taste as good as the milk chocolate. If you mix the two together you get whey perfection. I use an empty container to mix them about 50/50. It is just like drinking a chocolate milkshake with great texture when blended with milk. I personally recommend getting a hand held mixer for this. They work great.
This protein powder has a tendency to be a tad gritty. Taste is good though.
I like this brand because you don’t need multiple scoops for a 24-30g serving of protein, but the prices on this have gone just absolutely off the rails. I don’t like supporting companies that price gouge so bad but they are better than the competition. This stuff is nearly $20 more expensive than it was a year ago. Totally nuts.
So far it seems like it is helping me regain leg muscle lost from surgery
Definitely a great product, but waaaaaay too expensive.
No tuve ningún inconveniente con su consumo y es tan efectivo como siempre, aunque que este sellado por dentro me daría mas seguridad, solo vino con un sello externo en el exterior de la tapa, lo cual no me transmite mucha confianza.
I personally liked the quality. But, the flavor can be improved.
Quality is very good and has suede material from inside, so your smartphone doesn’t get scratched later. Only thing i wish it had just a little bit higher in the corners for protection wise.
I would get another one if i need as i haven’t found good ones for this model nowadays.
