Looking for specific info?

Is this particular box detergent, or is it truly the additive?

Definitely not detergent. It can be used as an additive to your wash cycle or to pre-work stained articles.

Is this product tested on animals? Does the parent company test on animals?

They state on their site that they do not. Please don’t trust anything peta says. They kill tens of thousands of animals in the us every year because the believe pets are better off dead than fed. They lost a law suit for killing a little girls dog. They also support ecoterrorist groups.

Is this safe to clean a wall to wall carpet

Use one scoop in a 16 oz spray bottle, spray on stains and extra dirty areas of your carpet before you clean your carpet. Great pretreatment! Worked great on mine.

I just got my box of oxyclean and my scoop was shattered to pieces. This is the first box i have purchased so i don’t have a scoop. Please help.

I have both the small jar for my laundry bag (to take the laundry room in my building) and the big box for refilling. The scoops are diff sizes. Here’s the breakdown:
small scoop has 1 fill line halfway up that equals exactly 0.7 oz and to the top of the cup is exactly 1.4 oz (just shy of 3 tbsp / 1.5 oz.). The full line is quite hard to see so i think they do this intentionally so customers run out faster using double as i myself was even filling to the top for ages as i hadn’t even noticed the fill line. Instructions say to use 1-3 scoops (i’m assuming to the actual fill line bc to the top is actually 2 scoops) for wash: 1 for regular, more for larger or dirtier loads. 1-2 scoops for he. 2-4 scoops/gal for soaking tough stains on garments.
Large scoop is 4 oz or 1/2 cup and has 4 fill lines (so 2 tbsp / 1 oz / 1/8 cup per line). Instructions say fill to line 1-3 for washer: 1 for regular, more for larger or dirtier loads. He: fill to line 1-2. Fill to line 2-4 per gallon water for soaking tough stains on garments.
Now just to compare the small scoop says 1-3 scoops per load (0.7 oz – 2.1 oz) and the large scoop says line 1-3 per load (1 oz – 3 oz) so there is a bit of a discrepancy with these dang scoops but close enough i guess. My advice? If u lack a scoop use full oz increments so u can use a baking measuring spoon or cup…but hey you do you boo.

I live in south west florida. Most of the floors are tile and the grout is a bear to keep clean. Has anyone used oxiclean on grout for cleaning?

I used it on bathroom grout and it restored the tiles to like new. Was very impressed. It’s not terribly expensive. Worth a try.

I need to use cleaners that are made from all-natural ingredients. Does this qualify?

There are more ingredients than on the label: the letter a means no problems using it. The letter c means use with some caution. Sodium carbonate peroxide asodium carbonate aalcohol ethoxylates (c12-15) no data, some concern cpolyacrylic acid no data, some concern csilicic acid (h2sio3), disodium salt, pentahydrate no data, some concern

What are ingredients?

Go to their website for a list of ingredients.

Under the sizes it says ‘less than 10 ounces’ and ‘14.44 lb value box,’ should i choose the first option if i want the one that’s pictured (7.22 lbs)?

Olga, i would select the one that says ‘less than 10 ounces’ (which clearly is wrong), but in the title it says 7.22 pounds, so you should receive that. At $1.73 per pound, that comes out to $12.49 for 7.22 pounds. The price is $12.48, so you should receive that one. If not, contact amazon. They need to fix that. I can see how it would be confusing for some people.

How is the baby version different from the original? Is it only because it is fragrance free or is there more of a difference?

I find that if i soak my delicate whites in the baby version everything comes out perfectly white!! I have been using this product for years.

Does this remove old breastmilk smells?

It removes everything regarding a baby. Very good thing for baby’s stuff and no smell of chemicals at all

Is this effective with cold water washing?

Yes

Is this abrasive like ajax/comet?

I’m late to the party…but i have to say…ajax and comet are cleaners whereas (my understanding) this is a stain remover.?

How do you use this in front loading machines

I simply add it to the detergent compartment, along with my regular detergent. Been doing it this way for years, and it works well.

Should this product have a factory seal? Mine arrived with no seal and has white fingerprints around the outside.

Mine was sealed, i think.

Does this work on grout

It does. For really difficult grout… Make a think paste out of the oxi and use an old toothbrush. I’ve found this technique works better than the liquid shower/bathroom cleaners (even scrubbing).

I want to use this for cloth diapers? And can i use this alone as a detergent? Or can any natural mamas give me any safe cloth diapering tips?

I make a powder detergent using this

1 cup baby oxyclean
2 cups salt
2 cups baking soda
2 cups washing soda

i mix it in a bag and then store it in a large jar. I use 2 tablespoons in my he top loader (one tablespoon for non-he). I run my diapers on deep wash, hot water, heavy soiled, high spin, and extra rinse. I’ve been doing this for a year for a baby and toddler and they never have a smell left over but do have some stains. The sun bleaching will help with the stains.

How many loads in a 3 lb. Container?

Thank you for your question. Our oxiclean versatile stain remover powder, 3lbs delivers 53 regular loads/uses when measuring to line 1 on scoop.

Can this be used to disinfect water?

No it’s toxic. Bleach is toxic also but in the quantities used to disinfect water it’s tolerable. Iodine is more effective at lower temperatures.

Does itwork on pet stains

I can tell you it works on blood sweat and baby spit up. I uses baby oxyclean on baby clothes to get out stains from spit up and diaper explosions and it works every time. Therefore if your pet stain is poop it would be akin to diaper explosion and work well. But this seems to work on all organic stains in general. I have not compared ingredients between reg and baby oxyclean but i would trust either on all organic stains including pet stains. Wash on the hottest temperature the fabric will allow and use the long /dirtiest cycle. Or soak in hot water and oxyclean first if the stain is really bad od not fresh. For urine you could also try soaking the item in nature’s miracle first.

Does this product have a seal underneath the lid?

Happy wife happy life

My wife is addicted to laundry thanks to oxiclean and downy scent boosters. If she’s smiling and enjoying a hectic chore for 5 people then i want her to stay happy, she says she’s addicted to it lol she’s always getting my stains out from my work socks and my son’s football socks. She has the different variations of oxiclean and plays with them depending what she’s washing. It smells fresh, feels great and looks awesome! She’s kept up with laundry since investing in better laundry products for several months now and says she gets so bored when she runs out of things to wash. Mind you, our house flooded last year.. The house isn’t complete but when she’s doing laundry with the new open floor plan and washer under the stair case where she wanted it facing the kitchen to not have a laundry room but instead grant space to build a room for our daughter! She’s brilliant with the decisions of which walls got moved according to load bearing walls strapped with steel ties too btw, my new stair case and us staying in the 1/2 story upstairs for now and yes that’s a hassle but we make it work and have what is necessary we need floors and trim everywhere downstairs and so far she’s gone desperate with our figh with the mortgage company to release our insurance funds that i laid a plywood subfloor in the bathroom so far and she covered it with paper-machete using paper bags aka kraft paper! She’s adding stain and clear coat now to create the moisture barier we need to protect the subfloor and old school sub floor wood below it from mold which we’ve treated to countless times. And hey guys the paper bag trick is working and looks great so since we can’t afford flooring for the whole house plus all the trim and cabinets vanities, fixtures etc plus appliances. If she can save thousands, i’m willing to let her try a different technique she asked me if i’d let her at least try and if it’s messed up there’s no harm done, we’d be using what we already have, she wishes to do the wooden plank look painting strips measured and cut from kraft paper and stained with a wood tool to give it streaks and knots. I am skeptical but optimistic if that makes sense. She’s disabled after a bad accident and i see her trying hard. She just hates dishes so someday when we have a kitchen again not just a tiny kitchenette upstairs, i’m getting her a dish washer i hope she can fall in love with like her washer which she has painted and decorated since the flood, it floated and after it was power washer and electronics tweaked, it works like a charm and it’s one of the pieces left from our life before back to back tragedies causing trauma for us and the kids but on day at a time. Never though we’d all live in a finished attic and have a kitchenette, her study area plus the extension over the kitchen where the new and spacious 2nd bathroom will go someday. She wants to paper bag plank the stair case, but idk as far as convenience being the only way up and down from living quarters with the den and also bedroom half the length of the house and yes everyon has their own bed and climate control where we sleep. Still room plentiful to walk around plus a dresser, book shelf, tv table (old school antique her mom gave her and she saved, the kids massive toy bin, recliner and the 60” tv we literally got the week before harvey struck and caused the historic flooding here. With my wife depressed i did let he rearrange some walls since it was all reinforced then raised and relevel and she was right without even being into construction and is doing 4 different color bling glitter walls for our daughters room and i two tones the boys room with blue left over from painting the bedroom we built together up stairs that’s been our saving grace or we’d be homeless still paying mortgage! Fema didn’t bother to help using an excuse that we have flood insurance not understanding the mortgage company won’t release those funds while over a year has passed. The know are home and with sheetrock, new insulation, new support added. A complete remodel after having to gut the entire house out, i realized my wife had a back up plan all along and used her studio building we almost lost in the flood, power washed it and she started clearing out upstairs and some storage space we borrowed to move everything into what was her business studio doing what was best for us as a family when that building meant hope and has meaning after her tragic deer car wreck that left her permanently disabled and in non stop pain. She smiles when she’s doing laundry and loves to soak things and it smells of a beautiful aroma i can’t describe!! Pants and shirts with stains they’d had for years are stain free! I mean this stuff works miracles and she makes carpet cleaner, concrete and grout cleaner and upholstery cleaner and much more. The versatile is her favorite but she loves the vivid white and the odor blast powder and the liquid, she loves the power oxiclean arm & hammer laundry detergent and is slowly phasing out the pods and mixing powdered soaps she calls super soap and boy to they sud up with bubbles nicely and smell breathtaking when done. She likes to be artistic too. She’s also a musician and loving mother. A jack of all trades but i’m proud of her bathroom floor technique she’s been studying and working on. I can respect that. And hey we all 5 have clean linens, pillows, cases, throw and fleece blankets, comforters, towels, and all of our clothes nice clean and fresh and she folds everything straight out of the dryer and keeps wrinkles away and lent plus static electricity with using balled up aluminum foil in the dryer which actually really works guys! It’s gotten my wife out of a rut and into something she feels confident and passionate about knowing it’s for her family and we seem to be everything to her. We almost lost her in that brutal crash but she beat odds and made it! When i get home from work and walk in, i’m hit immediately with the fresh laundry fragrance of flowers and just cleanliness which is so rich it’s like a natural deodorizer just doing laundry where we relocated it. It was a genius plan utilizing under stair case space for the washer and dryer. Her designs on the are coming along and maybe it’s a decorative color splash for whatever colors she’s got going on in her imaginary envisionment of what the end product will be. If the bathroom floor goes well she’ll do upstairs new bathroom, and i’ll finish laying subfloor everywhere except bedrooms which we hope and pray for carpet. Found what she loved and in a few months we can afford that but for now i may help her cut and paint the paper planks evenly and install them through the living, dining, kitchen, base of stair well, hall way and living room closet using this pattern if it’s a success cause we can change it out later but will give such a more warm and welcoming appearance looking more like a home not a construction site. She can’t do a lot but she’s done more than she knows to help. I work and was doing laundry, dishes, cleaning, bathing kids, and everything while she fell deep into depression surrounded by nowhere to sit just piles or clean but wrinkled laundry too overwhelming to even look at. She shut it out. When after displacement staying at church housing, last minute we were forced home or be homeless but to my surprise she had cleared out upstairs trim things we tossed up to the second floor in attempt to save from the flood.. Thankfully little over 6 feet or gushing river current they destroyed everything in the path including all appliances except the deep freezer, stove which fit into the trailer we used temporarily.. The washer and 2 dryers and 2 refriderators with most our furnitur except mattresses and just one drawer set we are thankful for and saved the dining table and a love seat. Love couch is in the den area. We all fit and have our own space up here so it’s not that bad. We need closer doors, rods, rod holders, and shelves built to store everything. Nowhere to put anything like literally and the studio is packed and then a shelf site beside the washer piles with cleaning products and she is thrilled for subscriptions chose to benefit us on her time from where she’d need a refill or something. She knows the financial situation and used items we already had! For that i’m proud of but she’s upset she physically can’t work and everything we had we owned and earned and maintained together and now she’s afraid the house could end up complete with her interior design talent tricks and hacks to dress everything seasonally but not now she’s just wanting her floors and the donated dryer which is old but in great shape and the washer i saved she is attached to. She likes to soak items for multiple hours before washing or if really dirty she will add everything in water with laundry then hand wash pushing it up and down to mix it, then she adds everything again and lets it stand then let’s it run through a cycle with only one rinse unless it’s a larger load. She messes with it here and there as it soaks. Smiling the whole time and breathing deeply the aroma which from hitting the front door to walk in i’m hit with a relaxing aroma of her laundry which i know she utilized the space, connections and the sheetrock around was painted by her. She’s painted more than half so far and i come in and do what i can with ceilings cause due to her spinal surgery from breaking 18 vertebra she can’t look straight up and ends up in tons of pain trying but she does try. She has intense ideas but oddly enough they’re intensive. She promised to locate some antique furniture that’s used either in good condition or poor using decoupage, stains, sand paper, paints, sometimes stencils (she’s also a canvas acrylic artist and photographer. So the walls will be filled with her beatiful paintings i actually agree on and don’t find feminine or blah quite fitting actually with lots of thought and time invest i appreciate in addiction to photos she wants her private lab to print poster size in poster framing but also some on canvas which it’s that or she said she’s photo transfer images to the canvas, some tin metal like left over roofing plus wood pieces. She has frame hanging sets to hang from wall and saves our daughters baby mobile she made and will place it in her room whe it’s r messy for that. With no financial abilities to rebuild the house solo, i’ll go with her flooring project and later her vanity and countertop epoxy resin fun. Might even let her get the floor resin and allow her to redo the upstairs floors once we settle downstairs someday and let her try her magic on it or she’ll go use her studio lol she won’t take no for an answer she knows what she likes and wants and happy is wife means peaceful happy life! If i can provide her with all her laundry dream soaps, deep cleaners and scent boosters… I’ll spoil her with it because she’s finding herself again after 2,5 years since the wreck and a yeah and a little over a month post flood. So may obstacles face us. I’m happy oxiclean inspired my wife to her old ways of loving to do laundry.. Except it’s way more amplified now! Lol i recommend this product highly! Your bedding, curtains and clothing and fabric table cloths will thank you. Add aluminum foil balls to the dryer with fabric softener dryer sheets to remove static and a lot of lent but be aware of items you mix and mindful to clean the filter every time even if it’s such a pain to do the extra step, your clothes and fabrics will love you! Another thing, lastly, bleach makes me and my wife lose our sense of smell and taste and end up with rashes it we touch any of it or it splashes, plus it makes fabric so dense and so fragile and could unravel. We use it to clean our concrete that’s it. Outside in a seriously ventilated area.. Oxiclean took place or bleach! It looks and smells better, doesn’t smell like just harsh chemicals though yes detergent has chemicals just not as harsh as bleach which ruins clothes too. Oxiclean is a better option. A haven’t had any allergic reactions to any of it so far. Sorry for the story.. My wife gets excited for her bday, christmas, easter, xmas in july, 4th of july and her bday cause all she asks for from those around her is gift cards that are visas usable anywhere not just store of choice, i can shop around for prices this way! That or my cleaning product list to chose from. The gift cards go towards cleaning products. Number one on my h phone must oxiclean variations. She’s gonna be okay and i’m thankful sh has laundry as a hobby more then a chore! Husbands enjoy seeing their wife and children happy. We will continue the subs to different products and keep positive that all works out!

Works really well

I moved into an apartment a little over a year ago. I have communal washing machines and my clothes never feel or smell clean. I’ve tried so many things. I’ve been washing all of my clothes and bedding by hand prior to washing it in the machines and it has been just okay. I just tried this stuff today after i prewashed it like a normally do in the bath tub. When i put it in the water turned dark yellow and a nasty ammonia smell came out of both the clothes and my bedding. I rinsed it out a bunch of times until it was clear and now the clothes look and smell so much better. I didn’t think this would work this well so i’m really happy i tried it.

Stop using bleach

Oxiclean is an ‘amazing’ cleaner.
Discovered this in 2014 when taking care of my father in his beginning stages of dementia.
Prepaired lunch one day which included a glass of hershey’s chocolate milk. I went downstairs to continue my homework and when i returned, 3-4 hours later, i gasped to the sight of that once tall glass of chocolate milk had been knocked over and absorbed into the intricate laced tablecloth…and sat for…too long.

Bleach would destroy the lace and regular laundry detergent, take your pick, was not touching this ‘large’ chocolate stain.

Took it to the dry cleaners and the associate told me, ‘twenty dollars. Or, i can tell what we would do?’

soak the table cloth in warm water for several hours with oxiclean…the box/powdered version.
Oxiclean will keep cleaning for 4 hours if the water is warm.

I borrowed a large galvanized tub from my neighbor. Placed it on some styrofoam in the basement. Wrapped the tub with some blankets and another piece of styrofoam for a lid.
Soaked the table cloth overnight just for good measure.

The next morning i rinsed the tablecloth and was amazed. No more stain. Gently and safely cleaned.
Soak all my clothes now with oxiclean….and more! Experiment and share your comments.
Not the stuff in the bottles.

Best stain remover available!

We have had some of this on the shelf in the laundry room for years and used it rarely to get out stains in a piece of clothing. You soak the item in a solution of the cleaner dissolved in hot water for several hours. I think it recommends 1-6 hours. This stuff works every time! It gets out stains no other cleaner could, including the spray cleaners. It also did wonders removing the dingy look from a pair of cream colored bermuda shorts that probably had not been washed in years. They now look new. Usually we can get out stains simply with one of the ‘spray and wash’ type stain removers . But when that doesn’t do the job, this oxyclean versatile stain remover always provides success. Takes a little longer, but worth the effort every time. You can also add this to your regular laundry for extra clean results.

Og stain remover

Works on damn near any stain with one wash. When it doesn’t work take the item out of the washing machine (while it is still wet) soak it in some hot to warm water with oxi clean for a few hours and wash it again. The stain is sure to come out

It works

It doesn’t leave a scent or film on the clothes and it gets all the stains out. I’m clumsy and spill food, ice cream, chocolate, coffee on my clothes. I have a dog and children who are messy as well. I add a scoop of this to every wash and it takes off all stains before they can set.
I can even buy stained clothes at goodwill and like magic oxiclean gets them good as new again!

Saved my pants

Had a pair of white pants got really dark chocolate gelato on. Tried bleach and other stain removers but always left a hint of stain. Soaked overnight in oxi and they are perfect again.

Fantastic

I feel like i’ve been missing out all these years. I just discovered this. Of course i use it in my laundry. But i live florida, the mold capital of america. Anything outside gets moldy. I have used it on my stepping stones, deck, railings, furniture. You can see the mold flake away.

It works on beef blood

I have a canvas tote bag that i put a vacuum sealed piece of beef liver in from a farmer’s market purchase. The liver thawed out when i was jawing away with a health food buddy in his store. The bottom of the tote bag became a bloody mess. I soaked it overnight in warm water/oxiclean in my kitchen sink and was shocked to wake up the next morning with the stain completely gone. Very impressive stuff!

Need sustainable options

This is my go-to product for stain removing, and i use free and clear products due to my skin sensitivities and eczema. I’ve experienced no issues with this product; however, i go through one of these in a month, and i dislike how much plastic i’m throwing away. I wish oxiclean would create a more sustainable option or utilize sustainable packaging out of recycled materials.

Dish rag/cloth

My dish cloth/rags are always getting filthy, as they get the brunt of the kitchen clean up. Every few days i soak them in bleach and water, and in a while the cloth/rag is destroyed thanks to the bleach. I have started using the oxi clean in place of the bleach, and while oxi does not get the rag as clean as bleach, it does an acceptable job so my dish cloth/rags do not turn into actual rags anymore.

Not sure if i'm tripping, help me!

I really wanted to enjoy this item but i found it a little odd that out of all the oxi cleans i bought this is the first one that didn’t have a safety strap locked around it. Usually there’s a strap that you have to rip off before you can open it and this one didn’t have it.when i took it out the box the box had powder in it and the container is a quarter empty. I haven’t used it yet but i was just wondering if this was normal?

Combine it with a spray stain remover

I was using the dreft spray stain remover by itself but it wasn’t enough to remove the poop stains. Than, i started combining it with this and it works amazingly. I spray the stain immediately after it happens, and when i do laundry, i add this powder to the load. It removes all the stains. I love it.

Doesn’t dissolve completely

I wanted to soak some socks to get the stains out but it didn’t dissolve completely. The blue particles dissolve but not the white and i can just imagine when used in the washer machine, it just goes down the drain. So don’t put it at the bottom of your washer before the clothes because it will just sink. I guess it works better with warm water. It does get hot by itself though.

Did the job

It removed a good amount of stains off my children’s clothes. The trick is to try to keep it wet before washing. My son has sensitive skin and it didn’t break him out either. Will buy again.

Lid is wonky

Unlike several of the reviews here, my package arrived ok — no spillage in the shipping box. However, i can see why the spillage happened – the lid is really wonky.

After i opened the container, i thought i had broken the lid because i couldn’t get it back onto the container; the lid only rested on top of it, it was not sealed. My wife figured it out — you have to line it up perfectly and then press down around the edge of the lid to get it to seal. If you’re not perfectly lined up, it won’t seal. It’s also kind of difficult to see which side of the lid is the ‘outside/up’ and which is the ‘inside/down’ side.

Other than that, the only other complaint i have is the fragrance; it’s kind of strong to my nose, but i’m sensitive to fragrances, so ymmv. I’ll order the ‘free’ version next time.
