Can i use this to dry my lanrdy
I have one for greens. It does not dry as well as previous spinner i had. It is sturdy. I’ve seen folks living in rv’s and vehicles have used salad spinners. Maybe find an old one (less worry about pbpa for laundry?) at a thrift shop and try it out. It may be sturdier too, as the new ones seem to break.
How does the stainless compare to the plastic, can someone recommend one over the other?
My plastic spinner was made of hard plastic which, in my experience with other items made of that material, tends to crack over time. This spinner has a raised area on the bottom that the spinner basket sits on . The spinner part works like a children’s top which is much nicer. I like the stainless because it is durable, keeps things cold and fresh and is easier to clean. I think the cost was maybe $20 more than good quality plastic spinners but in my mind, is well worth it.

Is this salad spinner bpa free?
Yes most oxo products are bpa free, and according to the oxo site bpa free is listed specifically as a feature for this salad spinner.
How to separate top for cleaning smallspinner lid?
My sinner oxo good grip lid is not clear at all. Top part does not separate from bottom part as far as i can see. Are there older models that top does not separate for cleaning? I really need help with this!!! Very frustrated!
What size are the holes on this little salad spinner? Will my alfalfa sprouts go threw the holes?
The holes are pretty small (approx. 2mm wide and 20 mm long on the sides and varying lengths on the bottom up to 12 mm long) and i actually use mine to de-hull my broccoli sprouts with great success. Broccoli sprouts are small like alfalfa sprouts if you aren’t familiar with them. I love this little spinner as the holes are large enough to let the hulls out without losing the sprouts. A few small sprouts slip through but not that many at all. I hope this helps 🙂
What are the measurements (h+w+d) of the small size and the large size oxo good grips spinner. I need to determine where to store it
According to oxo’s site, the larger spinner is 10.5’x10.5’x5.9′ and the smaller one is 8” x 8” x 7”, but even that is confusing since we don’t know if that is with the plunger extended or locked, and i am guessing that it 5.9′ is with the large one locked and 7′ is with the small one extended, but it is not indicated at all. How many cups is the large vs the small spinner
I have the mini. Not sure of the capacity but the container holds 8-9 cups (measured with water). I would think the spinner bowl would hold about 6 cups. Works fine for the 2of us.
Will it work well for spinning delicate clothing?
Yes, it will spin out the extra water. A friend told me about this trick and i have been using it in this way ever since. I can even fit a cotton women’s tee shirt in it but it takes about 40 pumps and one flip of the fabric to get it accomplished.
Is this item bpa free?
Yes it is: easy, one-handed operation spin-cleans salad greens with the oxo salad spinner. Centrifugal force automatically distributes and whisks away water to ensure every leaf of lettuce is clean, crisp and ready to serve. Will not tear delicate leaves. Press brake button to stop spinning motion. Removable interior basket on this oxo good grips salad spinner is the perfect colander to rinse fresh produce and remove dirt hands-free. Use the salad spinner bowl with lid to keep lettuce fresh and crisp inside the refrigerator. Tab lock secures spin button. Outer-base ring ensures nonslip control on a countertop. Requires significantly less water than manual rinsing. Bpa-free. Top-rack dishwasher-safe. 6 1/4-qt. Capacity bowl.

I broke my older version plastic outer bowl. Does the old lid and basket fit into the stainless model also?
I’ve bought this twice. I keep melting the lid by accident. This first one fit the second one. I would guess they are the same.
Sealed lid?
No sealed lid. Lid seals when basket is spinning.
Can you use it like a tupperware, as well?
Yes, you can store cold food in it (minus the inner basket, unless you want to store the lettuce with air around it)… But be aware that it won’t be leak/spill proof like tupperware.
Are the parts of the spinner top shelf dishwasher safe?
Yes, all of it is top shelf safe, but i’ve never had to put the mechanical part into the dishwasher…just give it a quick rinse or wipe. This spinner is nicer than the other rounder, more expensive oxo spinner….i’ve had them both. Highly recommend this one!
What is the difference between the oxo good grips salad spinner and the soft works salad spinner?
Thanks for your question. The truth is they introduced oxo softworks primarily as a way for retailers to distinguish their product offerings. The biggest differences between them are 1) good grips has a larger assortment of products and 2) most often, there is a slight difference in styling (i.e. In the case of our pop containers, good grips containers have a round button and softworks containers have a square button).it’s very important to note that though slight variances might exist between product lines, all oxo tools meet the same functional requirements. Every product they introduce undergoes the same rigorous user testing, follows the same universal design principles, and adheres to the same strict standards of quality expected of any oxo product. For example, a good grips salad spinner is made (and works) just as well as a softworks salad spinner. As a result, they are priced the same, even though they are found in different retail environments.

How much does the small hold compared to the large? For 2 adults & a toddler, which is better?
I only have the small spinner, it spins enough for 2 good size dinner salad. As your toddler will grow up fast, you may want to get the large one. I think it will spin enough for 4 – 5 salads, but you don’t have to fill it full.
Is the clear bowl made out of plastic or glass? I hope it is made out of glass.
Clear, hard plastic. Glass would be too easy to break. I love it.
Can the stainless steel bowl part go in the dishwasher on the bottom rack?
I had this spinner for almost 2 years, frequent use, my son and i loved it, and i always washed it by hand. Then this week i put it in the dishwasher on the top rack, with the metal bowl on the bottom rack. Next day my son spun lettuce in it, and it broke! There was a plastic pin in the spinner mechanism that either came unglued or broke away. It no longer spun again. Coincidence? I can’t say. Now i’m debating whether to go with another of the this same brand/style or try another brand altogether. If i bought another of the same brand i could use the old bowl and drainer with it when needed. Can still use them by themselves as a non-spinner. Thinking… Thinking… Trying to decide.

Stainless steel spinner unit is too tall for our fridge … What do you do, if also so … ?
I think your question is what would i do if the oxo steel salad spinner was too tall for my refrigerator. I personally do not store any leftover greens in the spinner. I prepare the salad, immediately clean the spinner, and put it away before dinner. I do not serve in the spinner, because i’d like for it to look like new for a long time. Instead, i do what my family has always done: use heavy glass containers for refrigerator-storage. I put the remaining greens — if any salad is left, which is not usually the case — in a pyrex or anchor hocking dish that is size-appropriate, cover them with a very-slightly moist paper towel spread over them, and top the dish by putting on its lid or even stretching saran-wrap or the like over the dish before storing the greens in the fridge. Some of the glass dishes (say, 20-ounce) we use for storage are stack-able, if we invert the lids that come with them, and thus we control the height of all left-overs in the fridge. (we do not use plastic for storage of still-warm foods for health reasons, so we just buy heavy glass containers.) hope this answers your question.

How the heck do you disassemble the lid on it?
To disassemble the lid for cleaning, lock the spinner in the flat position. Then turn the lid upside down and simultaneously press on the two grooved tabs to release. To reassemble, slide back into place until you hear a click. This is why i keep piles of instructions 🙂
Is this the largest spinner that oxo makes? Also, is this the newest model?
The largest salad spinner oxo makes is the oxo steel salad spinner, oxo model #1071497. Unlike the good grips salad spinner, it has a large stainless steel bowl (6.34 quarts in size), and the basket is about 5 quarts – http://www.amazon.com/oxo-1071497-steel-salad-spinner/dp/b000nd5c9i/
