Paqui One Chip Challenge 2022, 0.21 Ounce

Finally did the challenge yesterday evening. I’ve successfully completed several hot-wing challenges offered by local establishments and buffalo wing chain restaurants, but have never attempted a chip challenge before. This chip is seriously hot! Initial goal was to attempt to hold out for 10 minutes after eating the chip before drinking or eating anything. Was able to last 30 minutes although i wasn’t expecting to. I believe that my preparation was key. Although i generally maintain a healthy diet, i ate a hefty portion of fried chicken, mac-n-cheese, and yogurt for lunch (about 5 hours before the chip) to barricade the stomach. Also had a chocolate pudding about an hour before eating the chip. (a coworker who did the challenge on an empty stomach likened it to being punched in the gut by a pro boxer.) i did not find the aroma or flavor offensive as did most others, but i still wouldn’t describe it as ‘tasty.’ the mouth and throat burn built quickly and intensely to a level i had not experienced before, almost readying me to grab the milk and ice cream right there, but after around 5 minutes or so it began to trail off. The burn was then primarily felt in the chest and stomach, although i believe it was significantly tempered by the preparation mentioned before. Not sure if i could have gone an entire hour. Felt satisfied enough having lasted the half hour, so after about 38 minutes i reached for the ice cream which gave immediate relief to the lingering burn. So, to sum it all up – this chip manages to pack an incredibly powerful punch and serious heat for even seasoned hybrid pepper fans. Everyone’s idea of what is ‘hot’ varies, and everybody reacts differently to spicy foods and products, so exercise strict caution with this challenge. I personally would recommend this challenge only to aficionados of habanero hybrid peppers, sauces, and spices.

I thought i was ready. I thought i had prepared myself with other extreme heat foods, but i was terribly wrong. At first bite it wasn’t too bad. The taste was terrible but the heat wasn’t bad. Over the next 2 and 1/2 minutes i experienced a growing wave of pain. My mouth felt like i had a glowing hot metal ball in it. My throat felt like i was drinking boiling water. My stomach felt like it was on fire. I have never experienced anything like this before and i hope to never experience it again. Nothing helped, not milk or water. Nothing. 25 excruciating minutes of shear pain. But wait there’s more! No one told me that 30 minutes after the burn stop the stomach pains would start. I was nearly doubled over trying not to vomit. I do not recommend this to anyone who hasn’t experienced extreme heat before because this is on a different level. Proceed with caution and i wish you the best of luck.

I don’t know where to start. I’ve been on a spice kick lately trying to experience something new. I’ve tried all of the hottest commercial sauces, mad dog, last dab, you name it. I’ve even tried carolina reaper straight from the plant. They’re all very hot, but nothing unmanageable.

Before buying this chip, i thought to myself – how spicy could this thing possibly be? Probably just some internet fad for low spice tolerance people to make a cute video about. After all, i’m a seasoned veteran that has experienced it all. Here’s how it went:

30 seconds: tasted disgusting but i got it down. Nowhere near as hot as i thought it would be. What a joke, just an online trend like i expected.

1 minute: okay, starting to feel it now, definitely at the threshold of the hottest things i’ve tried…but it keeps getting hotter?

2 minutes: ego shattered. Mind in panic mode – wtf did i just eat? How is this even legal? The pain is excruciating and i’ve had enough. I just want it to end.

10 minutes: throwing everything i can think of into my mouth to stop the pain. Juice pops, ice, water, milk, you name it. Deeply regretting how casually i ate this chip on a tuesday evening. I can feel the heat spreading throughout my body and i’m starting to get delirious. Frantically look up reviews online – should i be concerned??

1 hour: mouth burn has died down, but now i’m experiencing extreme stomach pain. Preparing to call in sick tomorrow morning. The pain is intense like nothing i’ve ever felt and it comes in waves – deeply regretting my decision and considering going to the er.

Next day: called in sick, frequent bathroom trips, and excruciating pain every time.

1 week: i’m getting acid reflux and heartburn every time i eat anything acidic (orange juice, fruit, etc.) or even the mildest spicy foods.

This chip has humbled me. I threw out my hot sauce collection and decided to get a new hobby. To any potential buyers – please know what you’re getting yourself into. This isn’t a one-and-done spice experience, you’ll be feeling it potentially for 12 hours – 1 week.

I chewed up the chip and then ate as my family watched. The mouth burn was as expected. Hotter than i thought even after watching videos and reading reviews, but manageable. I have about 50 hot sauces on hand i use depending on the flavor/heat i am wanting and have an ethnic background that is really into spicy foods so i knew what i was getting into.

Then after 30 minutes or so the gut punch settles in. It put me down. I had so much dairy, not for the heat that was completely gone by this point, but purely to settle the ache in my stomach. I recommend chewing up the chip and then spitting it out. You would experience the same feeling in your mouth, face, and brain without the added cramping stomach pain (not heat, pure pain that comes in waves). The pain lasted around an hour and a half. The next day i was fine and didn’t have adverse effect on my normal “routines”. I guess i dodged a bullet.

This chip was everything you’ve ever heard it was. I bought 2 of them. I did this challenge with my nephew for his birthday, because that’s what he told me he wanted. I thought i had prepared myself for it, but i was wrong! I’ve never tasted anything so excruciatingly hot in my entire life! My mouth was like a furnace. The longer it takes you to chew the chip, the hotter your mouth will get too. Make sure you keep milk on hand when you do this challenge. It was probably one of the things that saved us. And our tongues did turn blue like the package says it would. It was fun but i’ll never do it again! Lol it’s worth the money

It very much is as advertised, this is a light year hotter than anything else i’ve had. After about 15 seconds of eating it, it was very hot so my body started to shake a lot. After about 8 minutes of not eating anything i finally was told to by other cuz they were worried about me so i did. For another 10 minutes the hot remained in my mouth until it finally went away, but now i’m dealing with a stomach ache but it isn’t that bad. It all depends on how well you tolerate spice, everyone’s different. Also make sure to eat fatty foods before consuming!!!

I bit the whole chip and started to eat it, it takes 15-20 seconds then the spice kicks in, i instantly reached for liquids to calm down the spice, get ready for 5-10 minutes of your mouth burning, i drank everything in sight then i started to gargle with tap water and hack up the phlegm to clear out any of the chip residue. 10 minutes after the mouth pain subsided then my stomach was burning, that’s when i forced myself to throw up the chip, after that i felt fine with no more burning stomach pain. You should try the challenge at least once.

I thought this was a social media gimmick and people were hamming up reactions for views and that’s how it got popular. This was unfortunately not the case when i nonchalantly popped the whole chip in my mouth. I started to think i could just keep my composure as my eyes started watering and my gut started burning. I’ve eaten ghost pepper peanuts for fun and out of enjoyment before, but after about three minutes after ingesting this monstrosity from hell i guzzled milk to kill the heat until i vomited. 5/5 because it works as advertised. I do not suggest trying this no matter how badass you think you are.

As someone who is masochistic, and sometimes borderline moronic. I did this on a live stream for celebration for me the heat was more in my mouth with my eyes watering within 30 minutes if consumption. Most if not all of the heat was in my mouth upon consuming as i did eat earlier in the morning. I did not use milk products for the calming of the mouth(did the idiotic thing and drank sprite) taste i felt could have been better but for the punch of heat was definitely one of the top 3 things i have consumed! Will definitely do again as i am a glutton for punishment

Wow! I love hot food, i love spicy challenges.

But this, this is like hell inside your mouth.

I was at a point where i considered going to the hospital because it was so hot. My mouth was on fire and my stomach was hurting like crazy.

I totally recommend this for a hot challenge but keep in mind, it is very hot

Did this challenge with a couple of friends and it was a funny seeing how each of us were able to handle the spice differently. Some of us could, some of us couldn’t. The chips flavor was not too bad in the moment but did taste terrible after burping a couple hours later. The spice lasted about 10 minutes, and instantly felt burning in the stomach. Felt relief about 20-30 mins later. That isn’t until a full hour went by and i was in the most excruciating pain in the stomach i’ve ever experienced. I’ve gotten stomach aches from having the munchies plenty of times in my life and those stomach aches are bad. But this, this was straight from hell. I vomited, had stomach pain, and was draining sweat like a waterfall. That lasted a good 45 minutes. So overall, the chip and spice itself were not that bad. The stomach pain in the end made it not worth it. :/

I would recommend only eating half a chip. My friend and i ate a whole chip and for about 15 minutes our mouths were on fire. The chip hurts the mouth the most between 2-10 minutes after eating it. By 20 minutes the mouth pain was mostly gone or very tolerable. What came next was far worse then the pain my mouth experienced. Our stomaches were in so much pain! The pain ebbed and flowed for the next 30 minutes and when it was at its worse it felt like we needed to go to the hospital at times. It was so painful that we both felt faint and nauseous. My friend eventually puked and felt much better. Overall beware of how bad your stomach will hurt!

I got this chip for a friend of mine it was great the heat wasn’t killing him but he had the worst cramps i ever seen a guy had to the point where he had to lay down on a bench anytime he got up, the cramps would happen again (doesn’t help that he decided to drink water instead of anything dairy) after all that he told me his sinuses were messed up and his senses were also messed up few more days later had to go to the doctor he’s fine now and still laughs about it so overall i’ll say you probably get a good reaction if you are giving this to a friend or trying it yourself but be cautious on this challenge.

So i ordered 2 of these for my brother and i to do and i’ll start with the fact that i have never eaten a chip that tastes so gross in my life. It was legitimately disgusting. And of course 3 seconds after you start chewing on it you are stuck with and awful stinging feeling in the mouth possibly a few tears and all the while it is an absolute struggle to swallow this monstrosity. I went about 3 minutes without eating or drinking anything then i went for chocolate milk and ice cream which helped only while it was in my mouth so no lasting relief. Then after about maybe 8 minutes it started moving to my stomach. I can only describe the feeling as 1 million bees sting the entirety of my mouth throat and ears for some reason. Same feeling in the stomach. The only thing that saved me from the heat was probably the fact that it made me vomit all my dinner out which still left a burning feeling for awhile. After laying down in the shower for half an hour and then eating some chips to settle my stomach i feel fine. All i’ll say is if you’ve never done any sort of spice challenge before please don’t do this. Waste of money and a waste of the dinner i ate. But if you want a chip that’s gonna make you wish you went back in time and never even thought of ordering it then get this chip

My friend said these chips were really good and i couldn’t find it anywhere in stores so i found it and ordered here. First off i was highly disappointed with the quantity of chips in the bag. There was only one. I’ve heard about chip companies ripping you off with stuffing air in the bags and skimping on the chips but this is ridiculous. So anyway i open the bag and the chip smelled horrible. And it looked like a burn victim. The flavor was gross and it was coated with this thick black powder. Anyway, i ate it and it turned my tongue blue! No idea what these kooky chip manufactures were thinking with this one. Anyway it tasted gross and mine was a little spicy. But if you like a kind of ‘cracked black pepper’ spice you will probably be able to handle it.

I’m writing this review from my floor. Having spent the past 45 min in excruciating pain. I feel like the chips boring a hole through my intestines.

The chip flavor is horrible. The burn pain slowly builds up for about 30 seconds then it’s in full force. After swallowing, the hiccups and runny nose came almost immediately. After the burn wears off and you think it’s finally over, the intense stomach pain kicks in. I’ve never felt this bad. I didn’t know whether to throw up or drop a deuce. All i know is that it hurts.

Cool experience to say i did it, but it’s not something i’ll ever do again.

I do these every year, and this year sadly was a bit underwhelming. I expected paqui to kick up the spice level, but it seems all they did was make it turn out tongues blue. While it had the heat, i felt absolutely fine after eating it, only getting a light runny nose.

The grandkids have been talking about the one chip challenge so i decided to get it. $8+ is an insane amount to pay for a single chip, but now the kids have some bragging rights at school. To be fair, the chip doesn’t disappoint – while not much in flavor, it delivers plenty of heat.

Never again. I thought people were exaggerating. I hate i put myself through this and i didn’t even swoll it. The burn took an hour to go away!

This chip is the embodiment of spicy. Its the perfect chip for any masochist to enjoy. I ate this thing about 9 hours ago and i’m still feeling the effects. My only complaint is that the chip itself tastes awful. But to be fair, the entire experience is awful so i can’t give it too much grief.
