My kids loves it. I do not really like it as it sticks on the floor. I’ll give 5 stars for making my kids happy but 2 stars for the cleaning lol.

we have many different play dough sets including the playdough factory fun set that includes a little press to make all sorts of shapes. This hair stylish variation is fun and encourages pretend play as the children become a hair stylist.

The set up of this was fairly easy but be prepared that once assembled, it doesn’t fit back into the box. Make sure you don’t do what i did and put the little grey press in the wrong way (see pic). Once i did that i had to take the whole thing apart with a screw driver to take the piece out again to fix it. Which as a side note, the fact that this whole thing comes apart with screws makes cleaning this press easier than other playdough presses we’ve tried before. After the first use you always get dried bits of playdough stuck into the press. With this one, you can remove the 6 screws holding it together and easily clean the interior to get all the dried bits out.

In order to get the hair out, it does take a little bit of muscle and coordination. My 5 year old was able to press it down on her own with some effort. In order to get enough hair to be long enough to actually cut or do anything with, we needed to use two whole containers of hair, three containers if you actually want to put it into pony tails. Thankfully this set comes with a set of 8 multi color playdough.

As expected with this haircut set, or any playdough set for that matter, it was a huge mess when they were done playing. My children kept cutting the hair and there was little itty bitty pieces of playdough pretty much everywhere. It was such a mess but it kept the kids busy screen free for a few hours. The kids were happy and i was happy once the mess was cleaned.

This is a fun play-doh set. It includes things you might see in a barber shop/beauty salon. My kids mostly just play with the razor and scissors to shave and cut the play-doh hair that grows out of the head. They never touch the two red straps that look like belts that are supposed to be hair ties. The tri-colored play-doh in each can is pretty cool, but it’s not the super soft stuff that you typically need to go through a machine like this, so you have to put a little in at a time and slowly, gently push the lever to grow the hair. My only problem with the set is the interchangeable headpieces…they are very hard to remove once they are snapped into place. There is a little latch on top of the head that when pushed is supposed to release the piece. However, the latch is flush with the head and is not only difficult to push, it has to be pushed extremely hard while simultaneously pulling back on the piece, which sometimes takes two people to accomplish. It leaves our fingers sore after each play. I’ll let you decide if that’s worth it or not. Other than that huge design flaw this is a fun toy.

Our budding hair stylist really likes this play-doh set. It’s easy for her to operate (she’s four), and comes with enough accessories to keep hair-dos and pretend play interesting. Clean-up is relatively easy too—a wad of play-doh helps pick up crumbs inside the head pieces and elsewhere. We have other play-doh sets as well—this is a fun addition to our growing collection.

This is harder to use for my kiddos. A lot of work to clean out, uses a lot of playdoh to get the hair to come out, and it’s just not worth all the effort. There’s a lot of different colors of play doh and scissors are always fun. It’s also a little bulky to store. We also got the tooth set and my kids are enjoying that more than this set.

My little one loves play doh and has just about every set. This one is very fun, and he enjoyed being able to cut the hair and add different colors through out! Although, he did have a hard time operating it and did need help with that. It’s definitely a little more challenging than the other play doh sets we have, but it is still very fun.

I bought this for my 4 year old grandsons birthday. His older brother set it up for him. He enjoys playing with it.
