Some reviewer of this product went into languid detail about the regulations for how much meat has to be in cat food depending on the wording on the label. He was pointing out that some wording means that only a small fraction of the food has to contain actual meat-strongly implying that we are all being ripped off.

This on a product that is costing around 75 cents for two or three servings.

I have seen these kinds of reviews before. Yep. I would bet dollars to donuts that guy works for a competitor of friskies and was paid to put out that review. Who else would be totally conversant in the fda regulations for the advertisement of cat food? I’ve seen this so many times on amazon. My favorite was the review of the vita-mix. Some guy starts talking about the engineering of the blades and speed ratios and saying that the vita mix is a rip-off. Well it isn’t, but who would know that stuff? Someone who works for cuisinart, or kitchenaid is my guess.

If it had lots of real meat in it, it would be the same cost as our food. If it had lots of meat in it and it was super cheap, then it might contain horrible quality meat.

Here’s the thing. Whatever is in this friskies meal, my cats love it. They beg for it, and when i put it down, they eat like there is no tomorrow. And they are extremely healthy active beautiful kitties.
What that other reviewer is not telling you is that cats are animal eaters, not meat eaters. I put down raw beef, or raw chicken, or raw fish, and they mostly turn their noses up and won’t eat it. Well, they do eventually finish off the fish, but only if all of the friskies is already consumed.

Being animal eaters means that cats mostly consume the contents of other animal’s guts. That means half digested plants, nuts, seeds, and yes, insects and small animals, too. That is what cats were evolved to eat. People who think cats love steak and muscles have been watching too many cartoons. They will literally starve to death if all they are given is meat.

And these cat food companies that sell lamb and duck, etc., and overcharge are also banking on the fact that people labor under this misunderstanding. There are no studies that indicate that cats are better off with grain-free products. None. So they are trying to play off the ‘grain free’ trend in dog food. Except that cats are not dogs, so what’s good for a dog is not necessarily good for a cat.

That means that what human’s consider to be ‘meat’ is almost inedible to cats. Nothing you can buy in the store for a human resembles what they eat in the wild. I’ve seen a healthy tabby consume an entire mocking bird, including most of the feathers. They do not eat like us.

I have tried out some of these new cat foods with lots of meat in them, chicken, lamb, beef, duck, etc. Those foods are definitely unique. They are just about as expensive as my food, and my cats won’t eat them either, even though they have lots of ‘actual’ meat. I think they are full of actual baloney.

Who are these companies? What is their track record? Purina and friskies have been feeding our cats for decades. They have a track record. They formulate the foods according to most accepted veterinary standards for nutrition. Yes they have plants in them. So do mouse guts. Yes they have grain. So do mouse guts. There is no reason to be looney about the vegetable ingredients, unless you truly ignorant of the diet of wild feline carnivores.

Finally, my kitties don’t like some friskies flavors. They love the beef. They like the chicken, turkey, giblets, etc. They really don’t like any food that doesn’t have gravy, and they don’t much like the friskies (or anyone elses) seafood entrees. So i give them what they like. Why not? I love them to death but they are not human children. They are animals de compagnie. If they are happy, i am happy.

My kitty loves this food, she doesn’t eat the good stuff she likes eating the gravy because she’s an older kitty. I supplement it with the packages of gravy on the side and noticed she’s putting on a little more weight. Which is fine because she never has been a big kitty. When she leaves her bowl my dogs also think they are getting a treat. I would recommend this because whether you get the shreds or the larger chunks of food it’s not about that, it’s about the gravy. If you sit there and think about it when humans eat homemade soup, they eat the meat & potato’s or whatever you put in the pot. Your not getting the nutritional parts, it’s in the water that your food cooked in. I am sad though because the food was given to someone else when on my fence there is a large metal sign on my fence letting the drivers know where to put it. There is a large fenced in box behind the sign so that they only have to drop it over the fence in the box. The gate was locked so it wasn’t handed to me. On top of this i have 3 large signs stating my address number, they can’t miss it. Thank you

I have recently had transportation issues which makes it difficult sometimes to get to the store to get the exact food that my cat likes. I bought one can or pack it after another at the local convenience store and she just was not eating it. She has thyroid disease so it’s so important that she eat her food. I ordered this in the next day she had 40 cans of her very favorite food. I can’t believe i didn’t order this way previously. Even just carrying it in from the grocery store is no longer necessary and the price is the same or better. Thank you

Smells bad enough to make you gag, but every cat i’ve fed this to absolutely loves it. We’ve nursed multiple underweight, scraggly cats back to health with the purina friskies wet foods. It’s rewarding seeing a gaunt boi with rough fur turn into a chonky boi with a coat almost as soft as my indoor cats. To me, it’s worth 2-3 cans of food per day per cat. They pay us back severalfold in love and affection.

Usually when i get different flavors in a box, the cats will have a favorite, then one they barely eat at all. That was not the case with this! They loved all of the flavors and i will be buying this again! I’m tired of tossing away wasted cat food but they sure don’t waste this! They love it!

This size box was a good option. Saves me from buying tons of random cans from the grocery store. Where they usually dont have these flavors anyway. I feel like you get a better deal with this too. My kitties love the little morsels in this food.

Great value for your money, and also the supermarkets aren’t supplying the cartons, they are selling just 1 can and it is way more expensive to buy the food that way.

I like the shreds, i do have a few picky cats though that don’t all like fish or beef.

Cat likes it. But it’s not real meat and smells artificial, which is understandable given the price.

Not the cheapest way to buy cat food, but it handy if needed.

Got a good deal on this cat food. My cat actually likes it. You know how picky they can be. She likes most of the flavors offered but even tolerates the ones she’s not to crazy about. The variety pack gives her the variety she needs. The variety pack is cheaper than buying them individually.

I prefer the lil soups cups over these pouches. I feel like it’s easier and cleaner overall. I also see that my cat prefers the other cups over these pouches as well. Although they still work to curb my kitties appetite and add moisture to his diet i don’t think i would buy again unless absolutely necessary

Reaction to this choice is unpredictable. If they have it in their regular rotation (seven choices-seven days), at least every other time, they will leave half the food uneaten and walk away. If it’s spaced out with two weeks between, they gobble it down like a christmas treat. There was another beef variety, with liver added, that they really enjoyed, but it has ‘disappeared’.

This is a great cat normally found at a reasonable price and if your cats will eat it and you can find it, it is a deal. Our cats can take it or leave it. They like some flavors but not all. In the past, our girl cats loved it but our boys didn’t. Highly recommend it anyway. As anyone knows who has a cat, cats can be finicky depending on the day and hour.

In this multi pack there is flavors for all five of my kitties

I prefer to spoil my little kitty with those expensive grain free varieties of canned wet food to supplement his dry kibble daily diet, but i can’t always afford those brands. He’s a bit picky after the fancier brands, but these specific flavors appeal to him, especially the fish and turkey. He also enjoys the ‘prime filet’ texture as now he’s so finicky he won’t eat the pate kind with the texture of potted meat…and i frankly don’t blame him lol.

My cats seem to like it. Good value.
