Where is this dog food made?

While being made in the usa is a good thing. The representative failed to elaborate on where all its ingredients are sourced.

Please provide all this information as well, as science hill claimed the same, but it’s synthetic vitamins were sourced from
china which owned a factory in the usa.

This ended up causing many dogs to become ill and many passed as well. Please, research this as it happened , and not just once.

The representatives statement really didn’t sit well with me, and for that reason…..i will research elsewhere.

Natures logic makes better made food and also primal. I had enough of these companies and non transparency.

This is the grain free formula, correct?

This is a grain free product. It is one of four companies that have approval for helping to correct the taurine deficiencies in our dogs due to grain free dog foods. I have done a lot of research on this product and the results of switching golden retrievers over to it. This pppsss is one that has been showing positive results and easily transitioned to from grain free feeders.

The fish smell is strong. Our two dogs now have bad gas, didn’t before. Does this go away with those of you that have had gassy dogs?

I didn’t notice my dogs having gas problems but i definitely couldn’t stand the fish smell! I actually ended up changing them over to a different food. They eat natural balance sweet potato and bison formula. It is more expensive but it has limited ingredients which the vet recommended for their allergies. Sorry i couldn’t be of more help.

What is the recommending feeding quanity for a 60 lb. Dog?

My 60 lb, 2 1/2 year old lab has been getting 4 cups (which is above the recommended amount according to the bag) a day and has lost weight since starting this food… To the point that her ribs are showing. I think we are going to have to switch brands again which is unfortunate because her wiry coat was really softening on this food!

How long does this take to clear the itchy skin?

Hi heather, i just started my dog on the pro plan for sensitive skin & stomach about 2 weeks ago, so i’m still in the ‘test’ stages myself. But i will say that my dog was itching like crazy. I tried everything and then someone suggested that i switch her to a ‘grain-free’ dog food. I shopped around and found one she liked. It took about 3 to 4 weeks after switching, but she stopped itching. So when she started having tummy issues, i started searching for something more. That’s when i found that purina had a dog food (the pro plan) that was not only for both sensitive skin and stomachs, but it was grain-free to boot! It literally had everything i was looking for. So while i’ve just started her on it, as i said, it took a good 3 to 4 weeks on a grain-free diet for the itching to stop. She’s been eating both the pro plan wet and dry foods (both are grain-free), seems to really like it and she’s still not itching and her tummy seems to be doing much better as well. I hope that helps! (ps a tsp of virgin olive oil in their food also helps with the itching)

Is there another variety of purina pro plan focus sensitive skin and stomach dry dog food other than salmon? Love the salmon, just looking for variet

If you find a dogfood that works, stick with it. Switching up your dogfood just for variety can cause stomach upset and discomfort in a dog.

What is the actual percentage of meat in this recipe? Salmon isnt a meal, & all i see is cereal grains that follow, with fish meal being far down list

Read the guaranteed analysis label first, then go to the list of ingredients which are always listed via the highest amount to the lowest amount of each particular ingredient. This way you know if you see that salmon is listed after 8 ingredients it’s garbage food and don’t purchase it. Being a cvt i can tell you that purina proplan is one of the best in the market. If you check the ingredients salmon is first on the list meaning it contains the mist of that ingredient which is the most important since it’s the protein source. Pro plan has moved up in dog food industry now surpassing brands like hills (unless it’s the rx formula), bb, nutro, taste of the wild etc. No it’s not as good as royal canin but i switched my pit who had allergic dermatitis and other skin issues from the rc (rx only formula) due to the expense which i could no longer afford. Then i gradually switched her to proplan salmon and rice formula over a 7-10 day period. Salmon is great for allergies due to the omega fatty acids. Pro plan is legit and my pit has no issues from the switch and the same results as rc salmon blend formula. People care more about buying designer brand food like that rachel ray garbage; sorry but being a celeb cook doesn’t mean you know anything about creating proper formulas for a different species. Nonetheless people pay 3x the price for dog food that will likely give their fur baby kidney/heart/liver disease down the road. And lisa never give your dog a food with 3 proteins….no wonder it has issues, if you’d managed to look at the proplan ingredients you’d see there is no grain listed, except for there being ground rice. Furthermore grain free food is just a ploy for manufacturers to make money by the way. There is nothing wrong with having some grain in dog food. They just take advantage of ppl not knowledgeable about dog nutrition and sadly there are far to many on this thread.

Is this product any good?

Yes, this is a great product. I have had 2 dogs with sensitive stomachs (would vomit food up). But this product works wonders. They are very calm stomachs and no vomiting!

Is this product really as good as advertised?

My mature rescued dog has been on this for several years and is doing well. I don’t know about the advertising compared to our experience. She still licks her paws, but i’ve concluded that is just habit and self-soothing. Her skin and coat are fine. If this does not work for you, you could ask your vet about prescription hydrolyzed protein food, which is supposed to be great for allergies but is expensive. One of my other dogs is on that, and the vet doesn’t think i should risk switching.

Is this product really as good as advertised?

My 2 shih tzus are very picky eaters and have tummy problems. They love purina pro plan for sensitive stomachs salmon and rice. This product is excellent for them!

How many cups in a 30lb bag? 1 cup doesn’t equal 8oz in weight please do not say 60

Do you carry purina 1 pro

I feed my cocker spaniel 3/4 cup in the morning and at night

Has it helped with loose stools?

Right away! My now 18 month lab was switched to this at 9 months old after the first 8 months of her life with loose stools. Immediately after starting her on ppss&s total turnaround. She devours the salmon & rice formula. Had smelly gas the first week or 2 but that has resolved. Her coat is absolutely perfect & no more itchy skin. I give her 4 cups a day & that sounds like a lot, but she’s very active, swimming, running, & walking on most days sometimes 2-3 times a day. She has done very well on this brand. I was very close to attempting to make our own food for her, then i discovered pro plan! So glad i did..

How can they say this is corn free if the second ingredient is corn (canola) meal?

Canola is not corn. It is a high protein oil pressed from canola seeds that are similar to linseed or soy. Oil is pressed first, then seeds are crushed to produce the meal. High protein.

Improved my labrador’s life tremendously!

Athena (my lab) suffered from bad gas, loose stools, and would routinely vomit. Each food i tried she never really seemed to care for and may not touch it all day until she got really hungry.

The day i switched to this there was almost an immediate improvement. She eats every bit as soon as i feed her, no more gas, no more loose stools, and no more vomit. This food has made her life and my life much more happy.

Helped my dogs skin so much!

I have an american staffordshire terrier named ziggy who is the sweetest dog ever. It pained me to see his skin with bumps and raw areas where he’d scratched himself to bleeding. We were feeding him a decent quality food and tried different things to alleviate his issues. Nothing worked and daily apoquel was not a solution i wanted to settle for. My step-daughter is a veterinarian and she suggested we try this food from purina and what a game changer!! He loves it’s, it smells way better than most of the others, and his skin cleared up within a week! He’s so much more comfortable now. Stopped the constant paw licking, too. Now i’m having it auto- shipped so he’ll always have this as his main diet. 5 stars and 5 paws up!!

Helped my frenchie with allergies!

I wanted to wait a little while before writing this review to see if it was really going to help or not.

My french bulldog maelee had been suffering from food allergies for the past couple years. We had went to the vet numerous times and she had to be given antibiotics and ear drops that she had to take on a weekly basis for maintenance to keep ear infections from returning.

I did some research on my own, to figure out that recurring ear infections are often a sign of food allergies or intolerance. I switched her food a couple times, trying to steer away from chicken and just change the protein and i didn’t see a change until i switched to this food. Since this wasn’t a typical limited ingredient diet, rather a specialty diet i thought it was worth a shot it being a little bit cheaper than some of the other options but quiet a bit more expensive than the purina beneful or purina one smartblend.

I had initially started out with beneful then changed to purina one smartblend with chicken then switching to lamb and it was with those dog foods she was having the allergic reactions to.

She would shake her head, scratch her ears, bite her feet, and rub against the furniture all the time like she was so miserable. She would scratch scabs in her ears and it absolutely broke my heart, i can’t take that!!

I knew i had to do something and not let her suffer, she is my baby. The vet didn’t mention allergies after the few times we kept taking her back for ear infections, but i’m a responsible pet owner and did the research myself to figure out the cause. (no offense to our vet he’s a wonderful doctor)

if your dog is suffering from allergies this food is a really good choice and worth a try. While it may be a little pricey it is well worth the reward in your dog will be a lot happier and healthier.

Since switching to this food, she is no longer itching, biting her feet and we have weaned off of the maintenance ear drops from the vet even. I couldn’t be happier~! The quality of life when a dog has allergies has to be absolutely miserable. I was determined to keep switching, paying any amount of money to get my dog back to normal.

We also tried the zippy paws aller-immune chews right around the same time we switched to this dog food, and i’m still giving her those as well.

Some of the other reviewers said there were bugs in this dog food. There were no bugs in our bag of dog food and salmon is the first ingredient. Reading the list of ingredients is a lot better compared to some of the other dog food brands in this category.

I couldn’t recommend this dog food enough, and i’ll continue to dish the money out each month to give it to my dog if that means she doesn’t have to suffer from itchy skin and ear infections.

If your on the fence about buying this because of all the negative reviews regarding bugs, i inspected my bag thoroughly and there were no bugs! Also purina has very good quality control and i am loyal to this brand.

**update** 09/27/2022
my frenchie has had to go back to the maintenance ear drops from the vet. It’s luckily just a call in prescription no longer requiring an exam every time but she does have to take them again. I don’t think it’s anything to do with her diet anymore rather environmental allergies on top of the protein sensitivity. This food is still working great for her. When the ear infection returned we decided to switch to hills prescription diet d/d salmon formula, buying it from our local vet and was a lot more expensive than this food. We kept her on that for months but no change in her ears so we switched back to this. I’m still happy with this food and know it’s made her allergies a lot better. There’s just unfortunately not much you can do for environmental allergies besides allergy medicine to help from the vet. We limit her treats and try to stick with single ingredient freeze dried salmon. She’s my life and i would do anything for her. Hope this helps other dogs with food sensitivities feel better too!!

My dogs coat is just so soft

My dog was getting skin rashes and then someone recommended this to me, their dog had the same issues. Her skin and coat are just so soft and no more rashes and this is after the first bag. It took a few weeks for her to like it, yes i slowly mixed it in with the old stuff, but she loves it now and the size is small which is perfect for my 14lb jack russell terrier.

Good at first

My gsp loves it at first but by the end of the bag he only likes it when i combine it with something else but basically that happens with every dry food so i have to change it from time to time.

Definitely works for dogs with sensitive tummies

Our chocolate lab has a very sensitive stomach. She was throwing up her food pretty regularly (pretty much anything with chicken as the main ingredient). We switched to this and she loves it. She has no more stomach issues which is nice because our carpet cleaner was getting quite a workout.

So far so good

This food is really good so far. My rottweiler is a shedder and has a picky stomach. This has helped on both fronts a good bit already. Less shedding, nicer coat and big improvement on the digestive front.

He was on more expensive food and not tolerating very well, this is much better for him. So far so good.

Stopped my dog’s ear infections

I didn’t know why my doodle (3 y/o) kept getting ear infections until me vet told me he likely had a food allergy. I had been feeding him purina one chicken and rice his entire adult life. I switched to purina pro plan sensitive skin salmon and his ears haven’t been irritated since. A little pricier but so worth it. He loves it too!

Great food for my pup with allergies

Great product for my boy with his sensitive skin. He loves the taste and eats it with no problem. Purina foods are highly researched with high quality ingredients that have been scientifically tested. More expensive “boutique” brands cannot say the same. I highly recommend this great product.

Cleared up skin allergies

We were suggested this food by our vet to help with our dogs skin issues. She would frequently get hot spot which would spread all over her body. We would get cytopoint shots once a month to help relieve this allergic reaction which did help significantly but at a cost of a couple hundred dollars a month. So we tried this food in order to help with her allergies instead of the cytopoint. She has been eating this for a month and had no allergy issues. We even brought her to the vet for a check-up and they were even excited with how good her skin looked. I highly suggest this food!

Works great for my little dog!

Our little dog has had issues with his skin for the last 4 years. We have tried a great amount of different brands & forms of food for him. So far this food, purina pro plan sensitive skin & stomach has worked good. He still has a slight itch, but it’s not as bad as it was. Will continue to use this brand but may switch to canned. Very pleased so far!

Great for digestive health

So happy i found this exact mixture and product. It has been the only food to correct my boxer’s digestive health. No more throwing up bile, no more soft poop or diarrhea! Coat is back to being soft and shiny.
I’m not happy it’s so expensive!

Great for dogs with sensitivities

Our blue pit has allergies/sensitivity to most foods. We have tried everything, most expensive to cheap. This is the only food that bothers her the least. I think more food flavor options would be nice as it seems she sometimes gets bored with it.

We recommend that you keep your dog in ideal body condition and not allow your dog to become overweight. The exact amount of food your dog requires will need to be adjusted according to age, activity and environment. But a good place to start is with these guidelines for an average, active, adult dog fed once daily. MAKING THE SWITCH TO PRO PLAN Although you’ll be anxious to see the difference Pro Plan can make in your dog, please allow 7 – 10 days to ease the transition from your dog’s current food. Each day, simply feed a little less of the previous food and a little more Pro Plan until you’re feeding Pro Plan exclusively. This gradual transition will help avoid dietary upsets. Contains a source of live (viable) naturally occurring microorganisms. Provide adequate fresh water in a clean container daily. For your pet’s health, see your veterinarian regularly.
