Can someone provide a description of the eco box, please? The product information boasts ‘new smaller, less-waste packaging,’ but provides no picture.
The product is basically shipped in its original packaging as you would find it on a store shelf. It is not packed into another box and packed with air pillows or packing paper.
It’s definitely a little more economical, but if you have to pick up your packages from the post office like i do, your mail carrier, postal staff, and other post office patrons will see what you received. Not a big deal to me, but if that’s a concern for you, now you can make an informed decision on this product and any other product where this option is available 🙂

What are our customers saying?
I have a lot of hair. A lot. Like, wow, who is that wookiee over there lots. I have looked into having a third arm surgically implanted (is this a thing? Who would do it? Vascular surgery? Orthopedic surgery?these are the questions that keep me up at night) because my shoulders are so tired holding up a dryer and a round brush for eternity. I briefly considered making a workout video (“toned arms: the hairdryer workout”), but was informed by fitness people that there isn’t a market for a 75-minute focus on the anterior deltoids. I almost have to wake up before i go to sleep in order to have enough time to dry my hair before work.
This thing took me 8 minutes. I naturally assumed, upon finishing, that i had entered some sort of amazon-created beauty time warp. I checked with my husband, in the next room, and in fact i did not go through a blowout wormhole. The silkier-than-silk style was accomplished by this miracle of a brush in 8 minutes (several more minutes were lost to running my hands through my hair and flicking it over my shoulder while smiling coquettishly in the mirror).
If you struggle with an over abundance of hair like i do, seriously consider giving this amazing contraption a try.
Wow!!!! Finally got my hair back!!
Raised and born in oc,ca where i never had to worry about frizz control. I was one of those lucky ones that blow dry their hair and straighten it and it looks flawless everyday that passes. Since moving to texas let’s just say i don’t even recognize myself anymore! I get my hair professionally done, cut often for what? My hair looks frizzy and dry and no product out there worked!! It was all because of the blow dryer! Here in texas a normal blow dryer is asking for frizz the moment you walk out that door! No hairspray or serum or amount the normal routine works. This is the magic weapon! This heat round brush does something that keeps the frizz away. Make sure you have sectioning clips to thoroughly section your hair and get all the wet pieces (very important!) there are pinterest, instagram and youtube videos that show you tricks for long hair or short.
I have also got satin scrunchies to put my hair up at night and a satin scarf to wrap my hair (i love my pillow case too much that covers my goose down pillow otherwise get a satin pillowcase). These tricks is what it takes to have tamed hair here in texas humidity, but this heated brush did all the difference! The only think i didn’t care for was that even on low heat the noise was loud, but i am sure the more expensive ones may have a lower pitch sound. Just glad i know this works!
If you’re even considering do buy it. My mistake was i saw this, saw that the reviews had videos of people with hair different than mine were using it and assumed maybe it wasn’t for my hair type, i purchased a regular blow dryer and still wasn’t content.
At first impression the brush is a bit bigger than i expected, but that’s no problem you quickly get the hang of how to use it. Overall i’m very happy that i came back to purchase it, i’ve seen it sold at target for 70$-80$ so getting it here for half the price was a steal i couldn’t resist, makes brow drying your hair very easy, i have very processed hair on half of my hair so it doesn’t dry quick at all so i started blow drying it. This blow dryer leaves my hair smooth and feeling soft, not frizzy, it can easily fool you into thinking you’ve straightened your hair, or used a curling iron depending on how you style it.
Love it. Buy it. Definitely worth it.
I would call myself a novice when it comes to hair styling. There is no way i am able to use a round brush and a hair dryer at the same time. I’ve tried and it was a disaster. I gave up hope of being able to have a blow out at home. Then i see this all over social media, the results were stunning. So i decided to take the plunge when i saw it on sale.
I was in love at first try!!!! It’s so easy to use (i section my hair into two parts) and just got to town. I use my blow dryer to get it like 80% dry and use the brush for the rest. My hair looks so shiny and the texture is so good! No frizz!
There is one down side however…. It gets very hot. I really wish it had a better temp control. Perhaps future models will have that capability. The ‘cool’ setting is still pretty warm but doesn’t feel like much in comparison to the high setting.
I totally recommend this product. It really has changed my routine and i’ve not used a single iron on my hair since i have purchased it.
My hairdresser yelled at me for using a flat iron on my newly highlighted hair and recommended that i buy the ‘revlon brush dryer thing.’ friends of mine had splurged on $400-500 dyson products and i just couldn’t, but for $35 i thought i’d give this bad boy a shot and was not disappointed! I have medium-length naturally wavy hair and it only takes me 10 minutes to fully dry.
1.) don’t use on hair when it’s soaking wet – wait for it to air dry for a bit or just blow dry lightly first before engaging with the brush.
2.) section your hair off and do the lower layers first, then add a little more with each round of drying.
3.) keep going until your hair is bone dry. I never thought i’d be able to get my hair salon-smooth like my stylist does but i did it!
I wasn’t expecting much from this because of the price and how basic it looks compared to products like it. Omg i was so wrong. Not only does this dry fast but it adds so much volume to my hair and gives it that blowout look in under 20 mins. I have fine straight hair so i worried about it being ripped out but only lost maybe 7-10 hairs from it. Not bad at all compared to my round brush + blow dryer combo i usually do. I also love that it doesn’t blow air too hard, it almost seems like it sucks my hair inwards a bit to latch my hair onto the brush. I may be wrong about that being a function of it.
The settings control at the bottom of the blow dryer doesn’t make a lot of sense when it comes to functionality, don’t know why they tried to reinvent the wheel with that one
I was hesitant to purchase this dryier since i tried a similar one and wasn’t pleased with the performance. I’m glad i took the chance since it has become my favorite dryer. I have thick, med-long hair and this dryer has more than enough power to dry it quickly. The bristles are close enough together to let me curl the hair while drying without using 2 hands or repositioning the dryer. The controls are easy to adjust once you realize the cool setting is 2 clicks away from high, but if you don’t get it exactly right, the temperature doesn’t change and you can burn yourself. If you have fine or short hair, this item isn’t for you.
It does a great job of drying. I used it on low and it took me half hour. I have short, thick hair and bangs.
The controls are a bit inconvenient to reach, you can’t control with one hand. The cool and high heat are super loud.
The handle is thick so it hurts to hold it for too long.
The brush is big in roundness so it’s great for big curls and probably long hair. Not good for bangs.
But it does a great job of drying, straightening while drying, and keeps my hair smooth and shiny.
Great for the price!
I have shoulder length, fine hair. I have the larger revlon dryer brush, but its so big, i like it, but wanted something a little smaller to really get in to the roots for some lift. This is perfect. If you have fine, shoulder length or shorter hair, i think you would really like this. I wash it, spray the root area with root lifter, let it air dry a little. After sectioning, i dry it with this brush and its just perfect every time. It is small enough to really get into the root area, but still large enough to have your hair look like you just left the salon.
I love this product. Instead of taking 30-45 minutes with a blow drier and round brush, i can go to sleep with wet hair and spend around 5 mins, with nearly the same result.
It is definitely a morning routine game changer. And i will continue to use it.
That being said… I disagree with all of the reviews saying you get a salon quality blow out. If i compare the result of this volumizer and my stylist’s work, there’s just no comparison (my stylists work is so much better). I still love the product and would buy again because my own styling of my hair is also not comparable to my stylist’s.
Pros: creates glossy, silky. Smooth hair styles best for long, thick hair. Removes unwanted waves and curls. Dries and styles very quickly.
Cons: really too big for shoulder length or shorter, and layered styles. Straightens hair, removes body.
I have layered, slightly longer than shoulder length hair that is fine textured but thick. As hair classifications go, it is ‘2a’ or as i used to call it, ‘wavy-straight.’ i color it and it tends to be dry, especially at the ends. I usually style it by blowing it dry with a 2′ round brush, which creates waves and lots of long lasting body.
This revlon one step dryer-brush has gotten lots of hype and i was curious to see how it would work for my hair.
I searched it out in retail beauty stores. I’ve held it in my hand and was concerned that the brush head, which is 4.25′, would be too large a surface for my layered, mid length hair. It’s a big and fairly heavy device and felt clunky. I was also concerned about the heat burning my hair.
When amazon prime day came, i fell for the super duper price and bought the one step.
The brush head is a flattened oval with bristles. The hair is supported well by the bristles which keeps the hair close to the openings in the brush. There is no knotting or catching of the hair which is able to run smoothly through and around the bristles as it dries.
There are three heat settings: ‘hot,’ ‘warm,’ and ‘cool.’ the controls are at the end of the brush handle, and while well marked, are nearly impossible to change while using the device. I’m used to a hand held pistol-shaped dryer that allows one to switch temperatures, air strength, or from hot to cool on the go…with one hand. I have yet to be able to do this with the one step.
You divide your hair into manageable sections and run the brush repeatedly through the hair from roots to ends until it is dry and styled. If you place the shorter end of the oval close to the scalp, you will get some lift. If you place the wider sides of the oval close to the scalp, you will straighten and flatten your hair. If it is long enough, you can wrap your hair around the brush as it dries. If you place the short end of the oval at your ends and hold the brush for a few seconds, you’ll get a small wave or flip.
I found that the one step dried my thick hair very quickly, faster than with a round bristled brush. My hair was very smooth, glossy, and close to my head. I would have preferred more ‘root-lift’ especially at the crown, but i have had professional blow outs that looked similar to what i got with the one step. All in all, the results were surprisingly good…even for such a large brush head.
Instructions warn that if you have fine or dry hair to only use the ‘warm’ and not the ‘hot’ setting. This is very good advice and it should be followed. Only use the ‘hot’ setting if you have very thick, wavy, curly coarse hair.
if you check out the product page, you will notice that revlon has a comparison picture of this ‘one step 4.25′ head’ brush and a smaller headed brush device which it recommends for shorter or layered or wavier hair styles. This smaller device is called ‘the titanium max, 2.4′ head.’
before i purchased this ‘one step 4.25 head,’ i went in search of the 2.4′ version. A large box store that starts with a ‘c’ and ends with an ‘o’ has an exclusive on this item, and of course, it was completely sold out. This smaller headed item was not on the revlon web site. I contacted helen of troy (who makes these items for revlon) customer service. The cs rep seemed to know nothing about the ‘titanium max’ but told me, incorrectly that the ‘one step’ on amazon had a 2.4′ head. She also told me that a 1.5′ headed brush dryer might be released by around the end of december. So, revlon knows a good thing when it sees one and is expanding the line, but has yet to update it’s customer service department with any correct or meaningful information.
Note: i revisited the c****o web site and was able to purchase a single ‘revlon one step titanium max 2.4′ head’ dryer brush. It should arrive in about five days. I’ll review it on the bottom of this review after i play around with it a bit.
Note 11/5/2020: c****o cancelled my order for the titanium max 2.4 head. Sigh.
After a bit of research i discovered that the hot tools brand is also owned by helen of troy and has a one-step brush drier in the smaller 2.4′ size virtually identical to the one described (but unavailable) from revlon.
I settled on the hot tools professional black gold one-step 2.4′ which i purchased from amazon for twice the price of the revlon one step. I selected the black gold because it had a ceramic coating that is supposedly best for fine, easily damaged hair. The head is also removable and can be exchanged with a 4.2′ head, should i wish to purchase one separately. I like having that option. I’m going to try out the new hot tools for several weeks and will review it then.
I’ve owned this for 2 plus years and honestly, it’s the best thing ever for my super thick hair. I’ve attached a picture of how flat it gets my hair and it adds great style. I rarely use my flat iron. And it’s amazing how quick it takes to dry my hair. Under 10 mins.
The one problem i’ve had is i’ve lost bristles, and it appears to no longer work as well. 🙁 i need to replace it, but i have had it for 2 years. I’m thinking my thick hair is too much for it.
Right now, i’m torn between buying this one again, or trying another, maybe stronger one made for thick hair?
You can’t tell by picture as this dryer truly gets my hair flat. But my hair is thick and can get big! But this dryer works wonders.
My 4 star review is because i have to replace it but it has been 2 years. I’m going to look into possibly buying a stronger brush. If i don’t find one, i’ll buy this one again. Maybe revelon will replace this?
I absolutely loved this product when i got it. I was growing my hair out to donate to children with hair loss as my covid service project. It was getting really long. The revlon one-step volumizer blower brush worked great on my long hair. It cut the time down getting ready and my hair was smoother and had more body. I loved the look. I cut my hair to make the donation the end of march and was pleased to see that it did as good a job on my short hair. I liked it so much i bought one for my daughter-in-law for her birthday. I regularly clean the hair out of it, just like i do my normal brushes. It was easy to use and maintain. Today, out of the blue, it started smoking. It was so hot on the handle that i had to put it down in the (dry/empty) tub. It was too hot to touch and i wondered if it was going to catch on fire.
I’m really disappointed for 2 reasons: 1) i loved this styling tool and i’ll miss using it, but it isn’t worth risking a fire. 2) this product was only 8 months old. I trusted the revlon name for better quality. Now i’m out my money and wonder if my daughter-in-law will have the same safety issue. I haven’t yet found my paperwork to see if revlon will make good on this.
Follow up: i contacted revlon and explained the situation. They forwarded my concern to helen of troy, the division that makes this product. I was contact immediately about it and asked to provide the receipt (which i had thanks to amazon), the model number, the code on the plug, and my contact information. Within 10 minutes of emailing it to them, i received a confirmation that they would ship me a new product at no charge. That is impressive that they stood behind their product, especially since so many purchases try to get you to buy protection plans. I don’t think we should have to pay extra just in case the product we buy fails. Neither did revlon/helen of troy. I’m looking forward to the new hot air brush arriving as i really did like it. Thank you revlon! Thank you helen of troy. I have upgraded the review to 4 stars because of your customer service—i took one star due to the problems with the product. I highly recommend this styling tool for both long and short hair.
This volumizer does what it says and dries my hair within 2 minutes… The problem is that even though i have used heat protection spray, it seems to make my hair tangle and dry out a lot! I love how it makes my hair look but i don’t like that i think it is damaging my hair. I’ve never had this issue before and since i stopped using it a few weeks ago, the issue has dissipated, so i’m nearly certain it is from the volumizer. I wish it worked for me. I love the speed and the way my hair looks immediately after, but i don’t want to ruin my hair…. That’s why i gave it a 3 star for temperature control… The low or high setting just isn’t enough…. If there was a medium, it might not cause the issue.
For starters, my hair is roughly shoulder length, somewhat thick, somewhat fine, and naturally wavy/curly. Different hair lengths and types might have a different experience.
Comparing this appliance to using a standard blow dryer and round brush, which is what it’s meant to replace:
i’m able to skip the initial 5-10 minute blowout that has to be done prior to round brushing. This appliance blows pretty powerfully at a sufficiently hot temperature. It dries my hair from towel-damp and smooths it pretty well, all at the same time, in maybe 10-ish minutes.
It’s lightweight, and it’s nice to have just one appliance to hold and to handle.
it simply doesn’t smooth as well as a round brush and blow dryer. But if you’re going to follow with a curling or straightening iron anyway, it’s definitely good enough.
It’s too big and bulky to smooth out the shorter, finer, flyaway pieces around my hairline. I still have to use a round brush, straightener, or curling iron for those pieces.
It’s annoying loud, with a more high-pitched sound than your standard blow dryer.
Overall, especially for the price point, it was better than i thought it would be. I continue to use it.
I read about this hair dryer/volumizer in a huffpost review. First, i like it because it dries my hair in half the time of my blow dryer. It leaves my hair really soft. I have long, color treated hair, which tends to get frizzy as the day goes by. It said that it added volume and controls the frizz, but i don’t find that to be the case. It does leave it soft and manageable. What i was most surprised about is that it is large. It’s probably 3-4 as big as my hairbrush. It makes it a bit bulky to handle. It also gets really hot on the hot setting. So much so that i can’t put it away for 30 minutes. I can’t dry close to my scalp or my bangs because it is so big. I hate having tons of hair in brushes, and it is fairly easy to clean. That said, for $26 on sale, it is a pretty good value if you have time to pull out all of the equipment to do your hair. I am using it and i can recommend it with slight reservation.
I really like this product and it does provide a really nice blowout provided you properly section your hair and use good quality hair products for heat protection. Right away i noticed 3 things i’d suggest revlon do with this product to elevate it to the next level. 1) this dryer needs a much longer cord. 2) this dryer needs a push button for the cooling feature as the twist dial to get to the cool air is inconvenient to use properly when trying to set the style. 3) this dryer needs to be more light weight because it takes a bit of time and arm endurance to continue working on your full head and complete the style. Overall i would definitely recommend this product, but do believe there are improvements that could be made.
I bought the root booster specifically because the barrel on the other models looked too large for my shortish type 4 hair, and i can confirm the barrel is a nice manageable size. The bristles look rough but there’s surprisingly little snagging, as long as your hair is a little damp and you take small sections. The cool and high settings are extremely loud, even for a hair dryer, so i use low and that’s more than enough to blow out my hair.
Definitely had to dry the top of my head more but loved it and did not have to section the hair very much (i have mid back length, lots of hair). My only complaint is the settings are cool, low, and high. High is incredibly hot and low the fan is too low. So i wish there was a high fan and medium heat but hair is very smooth after. Recommend!
Do i think it’s worth the $40? Absolutely. Is it gonna transform your hair on its own? Probably not. I will say, my hair is a lot smoother and less “all over the place” when i use this. I have naturally pin straight hair, but after a normal blow dry it will puff up and just look hectic (even after product and brushing). This dryer is great for creating a smooth blowout (if you have the time to do section by section), but what will really give you that voluminous salon style blowout is if you use curlers afterwards for 30min to an hour. Definitely worth the money, but i also recommend curlers for the full effect!
DO NOT wrap cord around unit when not in use or while in storage as this will cause wear on the cord.
