Will the extended wi-fi be available for other (non-ring) devices? Or am i better off just getting a wi-fi extender?

I thought i found the correct router, but after finding a solution to my video ring and added another camera. My router couldn’t handle it. I read the reviews and responds to the question. My answer is get a wifi and router in one that works with your internet provider. I have cox, so finding a compatible wi-fi and router was easy. I went to best buy and purchased one that handle all my devices. I turned off all my wifi extenders. Everything worked and my signal is strong. I found a wi-fi/ router that has a 4g and 5g capability. I say shop around and don’t do what i did. Purchased wifi extenders only to waste my money.
Hope this helps…

How do i disable night light?

But the light does not “automatically” come on. You either set it on or off. Fairly significant misrepresentation by ring.

The one i just returned would not connect to my wi-fi. Should the pro connect better?

I had the same issue with my floodlight cam. I moved one of the mesh routers right next to the camera and it said the same thing. I discovered it had nothing to do with signal strength, but was due to my wifi network being 5.0 instead of 2.4. I can’t speak to the chime but could be the same issue. I have google wifi which doesn’t allow you to choose a 2.4 network, so i had to actually move away from the house until the wifi switched automatically to 2.4 and then was able to connect

Will this help the audio outside come in any clearer? I’m having trouble with the audio sounding distorted.

This is really only good for a doorbell. I have a 1100 sq ft house using this as an wifi extender the farthest from the router, but doesn’t really boost the signal much. It drops the signal on and off so ring isn’t a dependable security device. The sound is poor quality. I get static noise not audio.

Will the ring chime pro work with my ring garage spotlight camera located outside on garage?

Yes it will. Soo i got the chime pro because my flood light cam was losing connection, got a chime pro so take care of the connection issue. You have to setup the chime pro first, then in the settings of the chime pro you can link the cam to youre chime as an wifi extender. Works great for me. I also did buy mine at hd

Will the chime pro extend the wifi range to my ring alarm base? Currently it is just barely in range and disconnects throughout the day.

Yes!

If i have one chime and two ring doorbells can i set each doorbell to have a different chime?

As it stands right now, 1/4/2022, you cannot have a distinct chime for each doorbell with the ring chime or chime pro. If you want to do that, you need more than one chime. You can, however, have a distinct chime for each doorbell in the ring app. On your phone. This enables ring/amazon to sell more chimes.

Will this go off with ring spotlight cam sirens?

Hi there,

no, the chime in this device was intended to amplify security alerts when motion is detected or when someone presses your ring doorbell. We can discuss this and other questions further if needed. Please reach us as amazon.advocates@ring.com at your earliest convenience.

Can i set the ring base station chirp to off and the ring chime pro to still give a chime tone?

You can snooze the chime for 12 hours at a time. I snooze it for our dogs during the day when i’m home.

Tengo mi modem en el basement y se va mucho el wifi de mi ring bell. Que hago?

Pon el ring bell en un enchufe mas cerca del módem o con un extender que repite la señal más lejos. Ej. Tp-limk expander.

Any chance it’s louder than the regular chime?

We couldnt get it to work with my ‘ring’, though my son took it home and it worked on his system. Sorry, i dont know how loud it is

If i order this…. Will it last longer than 6 mos???

I have one in operation currently for over 6 months. You probably can also get an extended warranty with that.

Will this work with the ring video doorbell2

I would assume so but haven’t hooked mine up yet, i can’t imagine a ring item not working together but i could be wrong

I have 5 netgear wifi extenders and ring chime pro extender. Signal is weak still. Would a 2nd rcp help signal more?

Yes, depending on the size of the property, in which you’re using it and the number and construction of the walls, between the extenders. The more dense the walls, the less transmission, through them.

Does it boost the wifi for my ring cameras?

Boosting the wifi to any of your ring devices is it’s sole purpose. I’ve heard that this works great, however, i was never able to get it to connect to my wifi, so i cannot attest to how well it works.

How can i keep my hob on at all times ?

This is a terrible product. If you can return immediately! It will never stay connected to your devices!

Can this be used with any ring doorbell?

I’ve used mine with 2 different model doorbells simultaneously. So i assume they do.

Could this doorbell be used in replacement of a wired doorbell. I have the ring pro doorbell.

Yes. My old door bell was removed and ring installed in place.

Worked for what i needed it to do

I purchased this item strictly to improve the wi-fi signal to my ring doorbell, and 2 outside ring cameras.
My modem and router are located in an upstairs office at one end of my house. My ring doorbell and one of my outside cameras are both on the first floor and at a considerable distance, my other outside camera is at the opposite end of the house, also on the ground floor, and outside of the garage.
My signal strength was in the high 60’s and low 70’s prior to installing the chime pro. Now one is at 43, one is at 58, and the other is at 60. It was enough of an improvement in the signal quality that i no longer have lag time when accessing the live feeds.
My wi-fi signal for all of the other items in my house was exceptional before, so i only needed to improve the signal to my ring devices. This worked for me.

Great buy!!

Ok so i was hesitant to purchase this because of some reviews, but let me tell you it has significantly improved my ring hardwired doorbell!! Even though i have it hardwire my internet would go in and out and the battery wouldn’t stay steady and i would have to keep removing the battery and putting in the spare and then recharge. Pain in the buttt!! Since my chime 100% better! So far the battery hasn’t gotten lower than 95% and i love how i can hear the doorbell in the house especially when i dont always carry my cell on me! I would buy it and see how it works for you! I love my so far it’s going great!

This fixed our compatibility issue with the wired ring doorbell and the xfinity router.

I had purchased the wired ring doorbell and the regular ring chime. I was at my wits end trying to make it connect to wifi. I was ready to return both items and go with a different brand. However, i read a post online recommending the ring chime pro to fix the compatibility issues with the wired ring doorbell and the xfinity router. So, i took a chance and ordered one for myself. As soon as i purchased the ring chime pro and went into the xfinity router settings to give it a fixed ip address, i was able to connect the wired ring doorbell and the regular ring chime to the chime pro network and finally we have a successful connection and the video on the doorbell works. Wish i would have known of this work around when i purchased the wired ring doorbell 2 weeks ago. At least it is finally working now though. I’m happy enough with it now that it works.

Excellent range

I’m very pleased with my new ring chime pro. The old ring chime had a rssi of 68 red for my backyard camera and it always showed poor internet connection. Well, i after setup the new ring chime pro inside my house, it went to a rssi of 56 green, and no more weak internet. The night light adds a great bonus. It’s pretty bright. If you’re having poor connection with your ring devices, i highly recommend the new ring chime pro. Again, i was totally amazed at this product

Love it!

I got this in case my ring security camera chimes went off while i was sleeping. It’s loud enough that it wakes me up. I didn’t need to use it as a wifi extender as my signal for that was strong enough which was fine because i didn’t buy it for that anyway. It was super easy to set up and totally worth the money. I feel safer knowing i can sleep and it will wake me up.

So much better!!!

It was so easy to install! Worth the money. My wifi needed a boost and it was hard to hear the ring chime on our phones. So when i bought this i achieved the results i needed with a single purchase!

Works great

This chime works exactly as advertised. So nice to hear when someone is on the front porch, even when am away from my phone. Perfect addition to ring doorbell

It eventually works but give it time

I first bought a ring doorbell cam 4 and hard wire installed it. Rssi signal strength was around -65 which was ok but not good. Because rssi is a negative number, the lower number the better. For example, the best rssi is -59 to -1. I then bought the ring chime pro and installed it in a wall outlet between the router and the doorbell. The app said, no good, find a different location. I tried three more locations, including a wall outlet inside the house located only about 8 feet from the outside doorbell. Signal strength still not good. Finally, i used an extension cord and located the ring chime pro on top of a dresser that is literally one foot from the doorbell, with only the house’s outer wall between the doorbell cam and the ring chime pro. At first, still no good! I felt defeated. But wait, there is more! I checked on it a couple of hours later and all of a sudden, the rssi was great, it was -44.

My conclusion is that do not be thrown off by an initial bad reading. Apparently it takes awhile either to establish the good connection and/or the ring cam device only updates the signal strength report every so often. So now i conclude that it is possible that some of the other locations i tried may also work. To adequately test each location, i believe you need to install it and let it sit there for awhile. In the ring app, go to the ring doorbell cam settings, click on ‘device health’ to see the current rssi value, but also scroll down and to see the date and time of the last ‘device health check.’ if that time is a couple of hours ago, do something to the doorbell cam to trigger it, like ring the doorbell, and then check device health again. I did this and the rssi value changed for the better.

It has now been over a week, and i am consistently getting an rssi from the router to the ring chime pro, and from the ring chime pro to the ring cam, of about rssi-45, which is great.

Other things: as other reviewers have noted, you truly can easily turn off the nightlight, the chime alerts, and even the little blue status light. In other words, you can easily make the ring chime pro a completely dark and silent device whose only purpose is the signal strength boost. This is all i wanted because my doorbell cam is hard wired to my mechanical doorbell chimes and i don’t need any part of it except the signal boost.

Thus i give five starts to the ring chime pro. I have not yet reviewed the ring doorbell cam itself, but my comment on that is that if you have a brick house, like mine, and your doorbell is in a corner far away from your router, you will probably need to also pay $49 for the ring chime pro, unless you already have a system of mesh wifi boosters.

Also, the ring chime pro is super easy to install. Assuming you have already installed the ring app on your phone, you just plug the ring chime pro into a wall outlet. Then you do have to wait a few minutes while the app sends a firmware update to the device. After that, the app will start giving you prompts that the location is no good. But if you feel the location is pretty good, i would wait, as described above, and see if the signal strength improves over time.

Ring is the best!

I had trouble keeping my side door ring on line. Sometimes on, sometimes off. So i had to get an extender. I installed it, but still needed a little help. I don’t know where ring finds these people, but they are the smartest, most patient, and kind techies i’ve ever known. Ring’s products are great, not to be outdone by the professionalism of their representatives.

These work as expected.

I’m glad i bought this because my original doorbell started humming after installing the ring doorbell. It works good but i still need wi-fi extender. Tech support is very helpful.

Nice range extender

This device is nice to extend your wifi range to your devices, but there are a few things you should know before purchasing.
1) it does not extend the alarm signal, if you have the ring alarm you will not get the countdown for the alarm system being armed through this device, it only sends out the signals from your sensors.
2) the nightlight is nice, but it isn’t day/night or motion activated. You can either turn it on or off and when it is on it is pretty bright, wish it had a small motion sensor so it would turn on as needed, with it either being on or off the whole time you either burn through the light or just get used to not turning it on.
3) if you are setting up devices after it is installed it will ask you if you want to connect to the chime pro or to your wifi network which is pretty nice.
4) it has a status light that you can turn on and off, it is plenty bright and i’ve been using this over the built in nightlight since i can just leave the status light on without as much power consumption.

Solid product

I like the security aspects, they work as advertised. I feel safer. Installation was easy. No need for tech support. I have the wireless because something was wrong with my original doorbell. I wish this item were smaller. Wish it had a usb or something to charge without removing the battery pack. Afraid i’m going to loose that special screw or special screw driver. Needs a way to charge without removing. I didn’t screw all the way in because it is a small hassle. I also don’t want to strip the screw. Also i don’t like that you have to have a subscription to get video after 39 days. Battery life for me was about 45 days. I can live with that. Wish i could have afforded an electrician to get the wired version. Do like that you can monitor battery life on the app and they sent a battery low reminder. Way to go. No issues with wifi or anything. Good product.

Could have a stronger signal

I bought this as a booster to an outdoor security camera that had difficulty grabbing my wifi signal. This booster is inside the house and only a few feet, less than 10, from the camera. The camera still has a weak signal showing so my impression is that this might be helping something but there are only two other devices in my house and they were never having any trouble transmitting.

Great doorbell chime if you do not have echos

This is a great option for anyone that is thinking of purchasing a ring doorbell, and you do not have any echos. I picked this up for my bedroom where i did not have the echo placed. Here is a quick pros/cons breakdown:

pros:
– great way to add a chime to a ring doorbell in rooms that you may not be able to hear other chimes
– if you are familiar with amazon products such as the echo or ring, you will find this pretty easy to set up.
– it plugs right into the wall so it does not take up table space like an echo
– built in night light that is not too bright.

Cons:
– if you already have echos in every room, you really do not need this.
– it is not very loud, so if you are watching tv or wearing a headset, you may end up missing the chime

these were just a few things i found while using mine. It works good in quieter areas such as my bedroom. It is just loud enough for me to hear, but not loud enough to wake me up. Personally, i use my echos more for my chime, so i would only recommend this for someone that is looking to put this in areas where an echo is not present or cannot be placed.

It works, but…

Whenever working with a ring salesperson or technical support, they seem to always want to upsell you items. I believe that my problem is still a faulty ring camera but i’m willing to try the chimes. I was very concerned that it would not work with my existing doorbell which is mechanical. After asking the technician to look it up for me i was told that it would not. After trying it out and setting everything up, i found that the technicians response was incorrect and it does work with my mechanical doorbell as well as the electronic chime. I had originally moved my router right next to my doorbell and i still could not get a stronger signal. After installing the ring chime pro and having to reset it several times, it finally began to work and i do have a stronger signal. Time will tell if it was coincidental or not, but i really wish that i did not have to attach it. I’m leaving well enough alone for now, but i still believe i have a somewhat faulty ring camera and it should be receiving my wi-fi signals much stronger especially when it’s only 2 ft away, and finally about 15 ft away.

This would be great if it didn't need to be removed often to recharge.

Battery doesn’t last very long. I love, love, love the features.
I bought a solar charger for it but my front porch doesn’t get direct sun. It is bright all day long but…..

It’s a pretty good product

This was a pretty decent addition to my security system. However the chimes are not as loud as i thought they would be… But the wi-fi extender is really great. It has a really bright nightlight on it that covers the room and you have the option to turn it on or off. If you need an extender and you want to be able to hear your chimes i recommend it however i think it is more useful in a place with an echo you might be able to hear it better

4Expert Score
Great for those that need a doorbell chime but not really impressed.

To start off, the chime pro works as intended. We had a nutone intercom system which i had to disable to install our ring doorbell. This also meant the original doorbell chime system stopped working. This item works as described to help remedy that. Installation and set-up was a breeze as it is pretty much ready out of the box.

As my title said, i’m not very impressed with the pro version. I may have been better off getting two non-pro chimes for better sound coverage and similar cost. While it is fairly loud, i wouldn’t trust just one unit for a large home.

Along with linking alexa devices to also chime when someone presses the doorbell, you can easily get the coverage you need with just one unit on the main floor. However, i’ll be looking to add more when i find a sale.

All in all, this is a waste of money if your existing doorbell chime is working well. For those that do need more sound coverage, this works as intended. I would, however, look into the other chime variations. One of the benefits of the pro version is that it extends the wireless signal so your other ring devices can get a better signal (though this was not an issue for me).

The updated version that works ever better

I had their original chime pro that lasted about 3 years. I am hoping this one last a lot longer. Overall this new one is more sleek and looks much nicer on the wall and i like the night light feature.
