Is this decaf swiss water processed?

I paid nearly double for this coffee vs. My standard 8 o’clock decaf specifically because the amazon listing states it is swiss water processed. My package does not have the label shown on the amazon listing, nor does it say anything anywhere about being swiss water processed. I called sf bay and got a message no one was available to answer my call. In this day & age of consumer demand regarding food ingredients and such this is kind of unacceptable. I will not purchase again without a definitive confirmation that this is indded swiss water processed decaf coffee.

Is this coffee oily? Did anyone use it for automatic espresso machine?

2 tips for running oily beans in super automatic espresso machines:

1. Alternate between oily and non-oily beans. My go-to bean is starbucks espresso roast, but running just those beans will eventually build up a funk taste in the grinder because of the oil residue going rancid. To minimize that, i like to layer espresso roast with starbucks veranda blend (light brown, non-oily beans. The taste variations you get with varying blend ratios is quite nice! Sometime i use starbucks caffe verona (another dark, oily bean) instead of or in addition to the espresso roast.

2. When the funk taste arrives, i clean the super automatic grinder by running out all the beans and then running a product called urnex grindz. I see they now offer a version just for super-automatic machines, but i figured out a way to use their regular version in my delonghi machine. The product looks like light yellow coffee beans and is super moisture absorbent when ground and will mess up your machine if you run a full shot cycle with it (once water runs through it, it will expand greatly and can brake the machine). Instead, run through just the grind cycle and then immediately unplug the machine when you hear the grinding stops and before it starts pumping the water through the compressed grounds in the diffuser. Plug the machine back in so it will reset the diffuser position and then turn the machine off. Remove the diffuser and clean up the diffuser and mess of ground grindz powder. Repeat this process 3 or 4 times. Make sure it’s extra clean before running beans through again. You might want to run several shots of a cheap coffee bean to fully clear it out because you can’t get all the traces of it out of the grinder. It’s non-toxic but even tiny traces of the grindz left behind in the grinder will suck the flavor out the first several shots after cleaning. That will fade away as you continue to use the machine. Your espresso will start to taste wonderful again after this.

Since doing tip #1, i haven’t had to do tip #2, but i will because i’m sure i’ll notice an improved taste afterwards.

Hi, my name is sarah from san francisco bay coffee. We use only the water process to decaffeinate our beans. Are the beans fresh, shiny?

When beans are shiny that usually means that they have been been roasted at high temps to make the bean darker. The moisture and oil comes out of the bean at that point

Are there articificial flavors in the hazelnut creme coffee?

Hi, my name is sarah from san francisco bay coffee. While we use only natural flavoring in our organic line, we use both natural and artificial flavoring in our san francisco bay, flavored coffees. If you have any other questions or concerns please feel free to contact us at service@sfbcoffee.com.

Is your coffee gmo free?

‘coffee has long been genetically modified since the late 1890’s-1900’s.’

this is absurd. Hybridization and the genetic modification that takes place in a laboratory aren’t even remotely close to the same thing. I know it’s an old question, but this ridiculousness needs to be squashed whenever it rears it’s ugly head.

Is san francisco bay coffee grown using chemicals?

Hello,

we have a personal relationship with all of the farmers, we buy directly through them rather than an exporter. With this, we are fully aware of what pesticides are on our farms. The only pesticide we use is to control a small insect called broca ( in latin america) or cbb in kona. It can be researched as hypothenemus hampei. It is a small insect that borers into the coffee bean. We spray a fungus called ‘beauveia bassiana on the coffee trees with a bit of sticky, soapy material. The flies are attracted to the fungus and get stuck to the coffee leaves or trees by the sticky material.
These are the ways we work to limit our pesticides.

I am so confused no where on the package did i see this as being decaffeinated? Is this decaffeinated?

I understand your confusion. There are many coffee roasters that produce a decaffeinated coffee without adding ‘decaf’ to the label, and to mix both decaf coffees and caffeinated coffees on the same amazon page does make any intelligent person wonder if they all are not decaffeinated (unless you are a beer guzzling cognitively disable person that makes assumptions).

Great question. Thank you for asking it!

I am wondering why the last two bags of the decaf espresso roast was filled with more crumbled beans than whole beans. What’s up with that?

Sometimes they get crushed , shipping or storage but it’s not like anyone is trying to put you out .. Accidents happen, i would be more worried about holes and not having the coffee than crushed beans .. However sfbay is a great company to deal with because they just want you to enjoy the product from start to finish..

Is this coffee returnable if we don’t like the flavor?

No

Is this suitable for super automatic espresso machines?

Hello,

the french roast is considered a dark roast and would work just fine in a espresso machine. However, the sf bay coffee pete’s espresso blend whole bean 2lb (32 ounce) dark roast is our recommendation for an espresso.

Is this decaf coffee currently water processed?. Why doesn’t it state this on the package?

Hello,

we use only the water process to decaffeinate our beans. The water process uses water from the pristine environment off of the coast mountains of british columbia, canada to gently remove the caffeine until the coffee beans are 99.9% caffeine-free. This method is 100% chemical free.

What happened? My last order was for 2, 2lb pkgs. I reordered & i get 1 pkgs for the same price. Is this for real???? (ordered just 2 wks prior )

I’d say that was an error and you should notify the seller and ask for an adjustment to your payment. That’s not normal.

Is there a whole bean decaf french roast available since there is a kcup decaf french roast available?

How old is the coffee if i buy it on amazon?

I just bought your coffee and it says it’s good until jan 2022…11 months away? Why don’t you put date roasted on the coffee?

Why did the price of this jump by 6.00 a bag since i last purchased it? Guess i’ll have to find another brand or seller

A question for the seller.

Is the coffee bean oily for you? The bag i got has oil at the bottom of the bag. Is this a one off or normal?

I have not ever experienced oil at the bottom of the bag. The beans have always been clean – and good.

Do you carry hazelnut creme coffee, 2 or 3 lb bag

Are you serious? I am a customer. But, i will say that i have never seen hazelnut in any store, and i do not believe on amazon. I might be wrong, but i do not think they offer a flavor or blend.

Fresh beans!

I’m a former barista and i come from a coffee addict family, but i am the one who prefers tea and hot chocolate.
After 15 years in coffee and trying a lot of brands, i will say that this is what espresso beans are supposed to look and smell like. When beans are fresh, they have a glistening, oily sheen to them. That oily sheen is where all the flavor is, you need it. Really fresh and you will be able to smell them through their packaging. (the only time you will find this is directly at a roaster. What it was like when costco roasted their beans onsite in washington) the bag should be puffy with air with an escape valve. This is for gassing the beans. Don’t laugh, it is part of the roasting process. After roasting, beans are ‘gassed’, as in the gasses are escaping from the beans. They have to sit for 24-48 hours before they can be packaged (too much gas and they are also hot. Don’t pack hot beans) then, they are packed and hustled to sales.
When you pick up that bag, you should be able to give it a slight squeeze and smell the glorious coffee aroma. That aroma is what your brewed joe will taste like. If you don’t smell anything, can’t squeeze it, the bag looks like all the air is gone, the beans are dry, or worse, you either don’t salivate at the smell or it smells like chemicals, put the bag down. Now. Trust me, you won’t like it.
That won’t be the case with this bag. You will drool. The aroma will pull you in. The oily sheen will beckon to you.
Now buy the coffee. Get out your grinder. (grind only what you need right then, never grind ahead, it gets old quickly when you do.) brew a cup or a pot. Pour over, espresso, traditional. Just brew. Enjoy. Repeat.

Great coffee!

I checked all kinds of coffee here on amazon based on price & value. I must say this brand is amazing. The quality & taste especially for the price is amazing. French roast tastes like a french roast, dark but not burned, etc. Many people on amazon are asking if the beans are oily (for their coffee maker), this brand does not have oily beans so far. I did not try out all their different coffees, but so far i can only recommend this brand!

Smells and tastes like freshly roasted hazelnuts

First time trying out this brand, decided to go with the hazelnut variety. Upon cutting open the bag, there’s a waft of rich hazelnut. I tried chewing on a few beans but didn’t get any of that flavor. But, after grinding and brewing, the hazelnut aroma becomes very distinctive, and the note of hazelnut gently shines though each sip. It’s a medium to light roast, which i wish it was a bit bolder. Would definitely try a different variety once this bag runs low.

Excellent pour over coffee!!

I love pour over coffee and i bought coffee beans so i could try fresh ground pour over coffee and this particular coffee tastes amazing!! I’m sure it’s just as good made with a coffee maker. You should definitely give this coffee a try!! The aroma when you open the vacuum sealed bag is also amazing. It was incredibly fresh! The scent of hazelnut coffee filled my house as i ground my coffee to make my first pot of pour over coffee and lasted for hours!! It’s definitely on the pricier side but it’s worth it to treat yourself to amazing fresh, aromatic, and flavourful coffee! I highly recommend this coffee for all of the coffee lovers out there!!

Flavorful whole coffee beans at an economical price point

We’ve been using this bean as a replacement for pricier options. There’s been no drop off from the quality of the coffee, we recently hosted 20+ family members and were asked what brand of coffee we were using as the general thinking was that the coffee was fresh strong and tasty. We have subscribed to this brand on amazon and have saved a lot of what we had been using in the past – important to us for our budget nowadays. I recommend this brand – try them and see for yourself.

Reliable good coffee

I had purchased a couple of the k-cup variety packs in the past, and found i enjoyed this roast the best. Solid, reliable, full flavor and body. A medium roast that isn’t to dark is hard to find, sometimes.

Amazing flavor and fragrance and rich color

Every night when i set the ninja to brew for 4:30am, i am excited at the prospect of morning coffee. We store the beams in a glass vacuum seal jar on the counter and the rich color alone is alluring but once i open the container and then grind the beans…. Morning can’t come fast enough!

Fresh, organic, and delicious

I am so impressed with this coffee

This is the best tasting coffee i have had in a long time! It is so fresh and flavorful! I will definitely be buying this again

Nice industrial strength coffee

Nice industrial strength coffee, with a decent flavor. Tastes much better than any of the hyper-caffeinated coffees i have tried. I like it with a shot of chocolate milk added.

Great coffee

Ok this thing would actually get five stars if it was a little bit stronger in terms of the caffeine and i must say that the flavor is exceptional. It actually taste better than a starbucks coffee any time of day because you have to be a consistent drinker of coffee in order for you to truly appreciate how good this is but the reason why i didn’t give it five stars is this because it did not give me a caffeine rush, but that aside if it had a ton of caffeine, i would definitely give it five stars but this brand is good, the beans are legit the packaging everything! But you want to know is this coffee good? Absolutely 100%. Great taste fresh beans, great packaging so you know that the quality of the packaging itself is taken care of what’s most important, which is the coffee beans. Absolutely delicious great bowl smell and i have a couple of coworkers that refuse to drink coffee because they swear by the health benefits of tea but after about the first four or five days that i broke myself about 58 ounce cups of coffee is in a 12 hour. Because of my work schedule, i actually have my coworkers drinking his coffee so that’s how good it is! 100% recommend.

It's coffee, i'm not a pro, tastes good, wakes me up

By no means am i a seasoned coffee pro.
I can’t tell you different roasts.
I can’t swirl the cup and tell you this has hints of ‘this and that’.

I’m a normal guy that didn’t grow up on coffee, but like it in the morning once in a while to ‘get me going’. This does the trick, tastes pretty good. I like grinding the beans, the smell is incredible. Just something about it.

For the money, it seems like a good coffee. If you’re like me who doesn’t want to spend their entire life trying to find the perfect coffee, but want it to do its job, this is the one.

Really tasty morning coffee

This is my husband’s review. “i am a one or two extra-large cup of coffee guy. I love the smell of roasted beans freshly ground each morning steeping in my french press and these are growing in me. I used a small hand held grinder and i think these beans may become my new favorite. Very pleased—so far. I like that it’s a local sourced company too.”

Value coffee

This is a good choice for a value coffee, lower $/ounce.

Generally good decaf

Flavor was good and not overly decaf-like. Mixed it to make half caf.

Hard to find whole-bean decaf

It’s harder to find decaf in whole bean form, which is why i order it from amazon. I must admit that the taste is a little less than the don francisco or the peets coffee beans that i was used to, but i can’t get either of those in whole bean decaf at the store. This coffee certainly isn’t bad, and it’s a nice big bag at a reasonable price. It’s definitely worth drinking.

4Expert Score
West is best

My local grocery stores have all decided to stop carrying whole bean coffee, or they can’t get it. I’ve tried coffee from amazon before it the experience was inconsistent at best. This time i decided to stick with brands from colorado west, the previous attempts were all east coast companies. Anytime i’m in the west coast, i find the coffee to be excellent. So far, that is my impression of this brand.

4Expert Score
Decent decaf

Love the size of the bag, smells great. Need to use a bit more beans to achieve a good coffee flavor, also this coffee is on the bitter side so if you drink it straight be forewarned.

4Expert Score
Huge price increase… No longer a reasonable cost/reward.

It’s was a decent coffee bean for $18 a 2lb bag. They raised the price by almost $6 overnight! Definitely not worth that. I’m moving on to another brand.

4Expert Score
Good cheap coffee

Seems more medium roast but the amount is great for a cheap price. It tastes pretty good and was packaged nicely to preserve freshness
