SAN FRANCISCO BAY SF Coffee OneCUP /Dark Roast Compostable Coffee Pods, K Cup Compatible Including Keurig 2.0 (Packaging May Vary), French Roast, 80 Count (Pack of 1)
The price just went up from last week, and this is no longer under prime. What happened?
Just bought a 180 ct. From costco for a lot less per cup since amazon’s price has gone up on this.
Which is stronger, the sf fogchaser or the french roast?
Good afternoon canis,my name is mayra flores, an employee at rogers family coffee company, the manufacturer for these san francisco bay products. We consider our san francisco bay fog chaser a medium roast. However, we roast darker than most so it would tend to be a bit darker. Our san francisco bay french roast is a deep dark roasted coffee and is stronger than our fog chaser. If you have any more questions and/or concerns about our products please contact me at mflores@rogersfamilyco.com or our customer service line at 916-258-8000. Thank you and have a great day.

Why did amazon stop selling this directly and make it ineligible for prime?
Until amazon can get it’s stock replenished, you can go to www.costco.com and get a box of 160ct one cup pods for $55, including shipping (if you’re a non-member; if you’re a member, you’d pay around $52).
If the plastic ring and the mesh bag are not bio-degradable, what is biodegradable? The coffee?
As of early 2019: these k-cups are entirely compostable now, not just 97%. Every part of the cup is made from plant products, including the formerly plastic ring. Same with the bags they come in, and the cardboard box around that is of course recyclable. No plastic whatsoever. They’re not quite there yet for gov’t certification to say they are fully so for backyard composting, but it’s likely almost entirely so, and if you have a service that picks it up, you should be 100% good to go.

Has anyone else noticed a 30% price increase on this product in the last month or are there other ways around this?
Yes, we’ve also noticed this increase and can no longer afford to purchase this coffee (that my wife and i love!) through amazon. We had been faithfull subscribers and auto purchased two boxes each month. When we started the subscription back in september 2014, the price was $27.04 per box. We noticed some small variations in the price over time but nothing like the >20% that happened in feb. This year (2016). I cannot find any reason for the increase, in fact the coffee futures on the market have been going down for the last year, tending towards leveling off the last 3 months. I won’t pay this much without better reason for the increase and have dusted off our bunn and started grinding our beans again. I’ve also noticed that we can buy a box of san francisco bay french roast k-cups 160 count at costco for $57.99 (equivalent to $28.99 for box of 80).

The 36 count decaf is about $18.00 and the 72 count is about $90. Something has to be wrong here.
Good afternoon,my name is mayra flores, an employee at rogers family coffee company, the manufacturer for these san francisco bay products. In response to your inquiry regarding pricing for our san francisco bay products, and in particular these 36 count box for $18.00 and 72 count at $90, they are being sold by a third party reseller. People can buy items and resell them on amazon at any price they wish. We have no control over this but if you click on the item and it states ‘sold by amazon’ than that means you are buying directly from amazon and the price will be less expensive than if you were purchasing from a third party seller through amazon. If you have any more questions and/or concerns about our products you can reach me at mflores@rogersfamilyco.com. Thank you and have a great day!

Does your coffee stay as fresh as k-cups over time?
I keep the individual bags in the freezer until i need to open a new one. Every time i open a new one my kitchen smells like coffee for an hour or so. In a way, yes, the coffee smells fresh and amazing when you open the bag. But if you let the individual pods sit outside for weeks then obviously don’t expect them to taste fresh.

What is the darkest & strongest coffee made by sanfrancisco bay coffee company
Good afternoon,my name is mayra flores, an employee at rogers family coffee company, the manufacturer for these san francisco bay products. Our strongest single serve products are french roast, espresso roast and fog chaser. But if you are looking for a dark bold strong coffee, i would recommend our french roast. Almost a $10 increase in price. Are you serious?
Good morning,my name is mayra flores, an employee at rogers family coffee company, the manufacturer for these san francisco bay products. In response to your inquiry, the current issue is caused because this product that is sold by and shipped by amazon is out of stock. Our san francisco bay french roast 80ct is not being offered for prime shipping by amazon at the moment because amazon is out of stock on this product and the system defaults to a third party seller and higher price. Therefore while amazon is out of stock, the only way to buy this product on amazon is through a third party reseller and this why amazon customers come across the issue of higher prices. For future reference when buying our products through amazon, be careful that it is not through a third party seller. You can look for the tag that says ‘sold and shipped by amazon’. A third party seller will have a different sold by name and the price will probably be higher. I would advise that you check back on amazon in a day or two to see if this product is back in stock. If you have any issues or questions on the price that is being sold on amazon by these third party resellers, please contact amazon customer service. If you have any more questions and/or concerns regarding our products please contact me at mflores@rogersfamilyco.com and reference your original amazon question so that i can further better assist you. Some reviews say the 36ct comes in 3 vacuum sealed 12 packs. Does the 80ct come packaged the same way?
The 80 count is nicely packaged in a ‘rogers family’ branded box which tells where the coffee is grown and some history of the brand. There are 10 compostable bags of 8 pods. There is also a plastic cup with an air tight lid to store a package of pods so you don’t have use the bag after opening it.
Is this coffee medium roast? Bold? Dark roast?
I’d call it a bold medium roast. It lacks the bitter punch-in-the-face of a true dark, but it has a very strong coffee-coffee flavor balanced with strong sweet notes. Its cousin fogchaser is a less aggressive medium. If you find flavors like nantucket blend and pikes place a little lacking, you’d like this. If you like nantucket and pikes place, you’d probably prefer fog chaser.

I want to use this in the office keurig-will this work without getting the machine messy and getting flavor into other people’s coffee/tea?
The first time i wanted to try a tea k-pod, i wondered the same thing. I didn’t notice any change in flavor, but the next time i wanted to make some tea, i first put an empty cup under and set the cup size to the lowest setting, then let the plain water run through to clean out any coffee residue. The water that came out had a few lose grounds in it and was slightly discolored, so now i do this ever time before i make a cup of tea. You should also routinely clean out the dispenser (where you put the k-cups). I rinse the dispenser parts and then wipe out the area you out those in with a damp paper towel. There’s a lot of residual coffee junk that builds up there.

How do i throw out the cups? In the recycling bin?
These pods should be disposed of in a commercial compost bin or facility. Many cities have home curbside pickup of compost and that goes to a commercial facility. Many workplaces, especially universities will also have commercial compost bins or locations. Many municipalities will offer a drop off location for commercially compostable items or even your local whole foods may have a slot for such items. They should not be put in recycle bins or facilities. In the landfill it acts much like other refuse.

Is this chem free/water processed decaf? Or formaldehyde?
According to their website, http://www.gourmet-coffee.com/decaf-onecups/, the gorilla & french roast decafs are natural water processed.
I bought the 80 count rainforest blend less than 3 weeks ago for $29 on amazon. Now it is $44 for the same quantity, a 50% increase! Please explain.
I’m wondering the same thing. How can they increase the price that much in a few days? The company website has them for much cheaper and you can use this coupon code i found on their site: give us a try – 15% off coupon code trysfb15.
When i click on 80 count, description says organic, but the 120 count does not. Is it organic as well?
You will have to call the company. They have a number on their web site . The packaging for the 80 count didn’t say organic but there was a sticker on the box that said organic. I called and questioned this and they said it is organic but there was a mix up in the packaging and that future boxes will say organic. Hope you like the coffee.
SAN FRANCISCO BAY SF Coffee OneCUP /Dark Roast Compostable Coffee Pods, K Cup Compatible Including Keurig 2.0 (Packaging May Vary), French Roast, 80 Count (Pack of 1)
I have successfully used other actually compostable k-pods like these (chock full o nuts for example) in my keurig k-supreme and have never had this problem. With san francisco pods, most of the liquid filtering down from the keurig was water because it bypassed the pod. The liquid in the cup was the color of very, very weak tea. Unfortunately, i just wasted $38 because these are non-fundable!
Update: i emailed san francisco coffee and they are sending me an adapter for my keurig-supreme. I’ll have to let you know how that works.
Update 2: the adapter for my keurig k-supreme arrived in only a few days. It is a small ring of plastic but it did the job! I am more than satisfied. I was able to finally taste the coffee. So far i have tried breakfast blend and french roast. I can’t decide which i like more. Thank you san francisco coffee. My only concern is that the adapter is likely to be accidentally thrown out due to its small size. I just sent an email to customer service to see if they will send another.

Great san francisco french roast for one serving
I used to grind the whole coffee beans, then brew and my husband who grew up in sf loved french roast. He was older than i and recalled the cable car on the golden gate bridge and when it got near to sf he smelled the folgers coffee plant. It is no longer there, but ever since that memory he drank only dark french roast. He introduced me to it upon marriage, and it is all i drink. Now it’s only me and i use the keurig pods and it tastes as if i just ground the beans, and all i need is one cup in the morning. It works perfectly for two people or just one. I have been using it for 28 years or more and will continue to do so. This is the best.

I love that it's 100% compostable!
I have been drinking decaf coffee for over 20 years now, and had not been able to find the compostable cups for decaf anywhere. (i wish my favorite brands of coffee would offer 100% compostable!) i have read some reviews stating that these are one-day shelf life. I have an airtight cannister (bought here on amazon) that i use to store these. The coffee has stayed fresh for over a month – even those outside the bag. Btw, even the bag they come in is compostable! Thank you!

Best coffee (french roast) and pods
Had to buy san francisco coffee french roast from amazon as the local costco, where we moved to, doesn’t carry san francisco coffee. Love the taste of the french roast flavor. Flavorful but not too strong. I run a 6oz cup with a bit of brown sugar and powdered milk–like drinking dark chocolate! I love that the packaging is industrial compostable, so that if your city/county has a composting program, you can just toss this in the composting bin. Unfortunately, i no longer live in a city that does composting, but i don’t feel as bad tossing these cups than the regular k-cups. I keep the coffee in an air-tight container to keep it fresh.

Delicious
I never had a keurig coffee maker until recently. I didn’t like that i was throwing so many plastic cups into the recycle bin. I found this brand on amazon and i have to say i’m hooked. The espresso pod that comes in this mixed pack is awesome. The flavor that i found i really love though is the donut shop.

Pod doesn’t puncture
Wow. Very disappointed as i have ordered this brand before. The pods do not puncture. I had to push forcefully down on my keurig just to get the pod to get a good seal. If not the water spills all over and you end up with a weak brewed watery coffee, complete with coffee grounds in the cup.

The top of my list!
This coffee is my absolute favorite. After a long search through many different brands, i can truly say that sf bay coffee is my top favorite. It’s nicely flavored and has a light after taste. Not acidic or too strong at all. In fact it’s so good, after years and years or taking coffee with sugar, i no longer need the sweetness to mask the bitterness. Oh yeah, there’s no bitterness to the breakfast blend. The columbia supreme is awesome too, but not as well rounded as the breakfast blend. I highly recommend this k cup coffee, you won’t be disappointed! Best of all, no guilt since all the packaging is compostable. Yes! Happy drinking, and wakey wakey!

Enjoy the product very much.
Use for making latte. Like the flavor even over going to popular coffee chains. Great value. Will definitely buy again. Only difference i find with these pods over the full cup type is when the keurig blows air at the end of the cycle you don’t hear it.

Rich, delicious coffee
I’m brazilian, so i like my coffeee srtong and flavorful, with a nice aroma. This coffee reminds me a little of coffee i used to drink in brazil, only a bit smoother. I gave some to my mom and she loves it. She says it smells like home. The only problem is that i’ve become an even worse a coffee snob when i go out! Lol

Great coffee!
I would probably give this 4.5 stars instead of 5 stars, only due to after punching the hole from the coffee machine to the coffee pod you do have to widen it so the ground coffee will not spill over into your cup. Love smelling the coffee before putting it in the machine and i do keep in an airtight container.

My favorite coffee but not great in new keurigs
So i’ll put this out there that this is my favorite coffee and will now be buying the grounds. In the past i had a older keurig. And this worked perfectly with it. It made a nice bold coffee. But beware with new keurigs that this component doesn’t brew coffee efficiently. It causes a lot of water to leak around the sides making the coffee very mild if not just watery. So overall if you have a old keurig this is 5 stars for me. But if you have a new one just buy grounds and use with a reusable k-cup.

Best k cups
I have had this coffee caffeinated and also decaffeinated both are amazing the only thing with the filter it does let a little residue through that will sit at the bottom of your cup but i prefer these over having it filtered through plastic as you don’t get the plastic taste in your cup of coffee with this type of k cup. It is a pretty strong cuppa coffee so i do run it through twice to get more ounces out of one pod. I have tried other brands another types and i always come back to this one

I love this company but…
This flavor is not my flavor. I like a strong coffee and i like a mild coffee. The haight flavor has a skunky flavor to it that turns my stomach. It cost a little more than the french roast which is a golden standard for coffee, everyone should try that and only try this if you want to experiment.

Not for those with digestive acid issues
This was recommended in my ‘low acid’ search. I didn’t pay attention to see that the product does not claim to be low acid. That said, it seems to be unusually high in acid. It does have a nice bold taste.

Truly delicious (but not fully keurig compatble.
Really love the fresh, full flavor! But, a tip to keurig users: as sfb says, this is not a k-cup, and although it does fit into a keurig brewer, it does not always work in one. It may work in the older keurig machines (and i’ve read that it does work in keurig 2.0 designs), but works only sporadically in the multi-port machines. This is due to to things: 1) the sfb pod is very flexible (the top surface bends easily and away from the injector pins), and 2) there is a seal layer just under the pod top surface that tends to resist puncture. My suggestion (and what i do) is to empty the pod coffee grounds into a my k-cup universal reusable filter. Not terribly difficult, easy to clean, and makes a great cup of sfb coffee.

Been drinking sf french roast for several, easier than grinding my own with almost same results.
Like the convenience, the flavor and packaging, nothing to recycle. Available at costco but the convenience of delivery is worth the difference of travel time and expense.

Empty pods
I have this product on auto delivery and do enjoy the coffee. In my last shipment i have found 5 empty pods – no coffee. Pictured are 2 of those pods as my husband threw out the others. I am hopeful that once the remaining packages are opened i will not find more empty pods. I was looking for a way to contact the seller but was unable find how to do that.
Great coffee but disappointed to receive empty pods.

Read if you have brewing issues…
I had read other reviews of people having an issue with their machine not being able to puncture the top well enough to get full strength brew. I started having the same issue! So today i was determined to figure this out. Instead of the regular, gentle way i close my lid to my keurig i tried to close it quickly with a bit more force and it worked! So that’s my tip for a perfect cup of this yummy coffee. Now i don’t need to switch to a different type of pod, i love not using so much plastic but still get a quick cup without refillable pods.
