I won’t be able to use all of the mats this summer and would like to use the remainder next summer. Will they still be effective?
I had a mat that was out of the mylar sleeve, it slid down my workbench in my garage and evaded my finding it that day. 4 or 5 years later i found it wedged between a draw track and got wedged right on top of n52 super magnet i also thought was long lost.
My west coast home has a garage that is as hot as hades in all months except the few weeks winter arrives.
That four or five year old pad had the same lifespan as one just purchased. This surprised me. I generally refill the butane cartridges myself with puretane once depleted, but the mats i buy in bulk (just the mats) as i’ve tried many times to resoak the mats with various things like citronella, lemon grass lemon eucalyptus oil, all sorts of essential oils, both natural and synthetic including permethrin (natural)
at the end of the day the thermacell mats i’ll buy, as it works better than any alternative i’ve tried thus far.

Can you use this product while eating and drinking on the patio?
Yes, it’s a excellent product! Easy to use. We don’t even notice.

Does the mats and fuel cell work with the backpacker model?
No. The mats are the same, the fuel cell is not. The whole point of the backpacker model is that you can use it with standard isobutane/propane fuel canisters (with a lindal valve) that are used with canister type camping stoves- i.e. Msr, jetboil, snow peak, and many others.
With the backpacker model, all you need to buy from thermacell are the pads, camping fuel can be bought at any camping supply store (fyi those can also be refilled from larger containers, with adapters you can buy on amazon)

Does this’s work with the radias zone?

The active ingredient of the product is allerin, and if there is another ingredient, please explain in detail what the ingredients are.
The fuel cartridge contains 100% liquified petroleum gas (butane). The repellent contains d-allethtin, distillates, and other components below reportable levels. Please contact thermacell directly, we would be happy to send you the full msds sheets for our products.
Does this work better than the thermacell model with the cartridges and blue pads??
This is the propane cartridge and blue pads for the unit.
Are they waterproof?
The repellers are water resistant, not water proof. The refills should be water proof if remaining in it’s original packaging.
I bought the lantern and the cartridge is empty after 4 hours. Did i get a dud??
Please contact thermacell directly at 1-866-753-3837 or service@thermacell.net. Your fuel cartridge should have lasted 12 hours. Also, make sure to turn it off when you are done using it.
Can i move it with me when working in my flowers or painting my barn?
Yes you can. I love mine and they do work. May need to let it run a bit but does work
I noticed when used, one side is white and the other side is blue and black. Can you flip waffer to reuse blue and black side?
You should not flip the repellent mat over and use the other side. Each repellent mat is effective for about 4 hours.
Is there a way to recycle my empty fuel cells? It seems like such a waste to throw them away.

Place in trash or offer for recycling if available. If cartridge is partly filled or for unused mats: call your local solid waste agency for disposal instructions. Never place unused mats down any indoor or outdoor drain.

Is this safe to use in a closed tent?
I would not. Unless the tent is like 20 ft. Square, it does put off a vapor. I try not to even sit close to it, i have experienced soar throats sitting right in the vapor. It does work. I just wouldn’t inhale the vapor from the burning pad. Also, beware, each ‘pad’ lasts about half as long as they say.
Can you uae the butane cartridges for an hour? Or two or is it one time use?
Yes, you can use them just an hour or less at a time. You just turn the thermocell off. We try yo keep track mentally of how long we use each cartridge, as often we just sit out in the evening for a half hour or so. If we kind of lose track of how long a cartridge has been used, the mosquitoes will come and let itvran out!
Can you purchase only replacement mats as the canisters outlast the mats?
We sell the mats alone in the backpacker refill box. These can be used on all thermacell fuel powered repellers.

Will this work against no-see-ums, spiders , nat’s?

How do you know when it’s time to replace the fuel cartridge?
It either won’t light, or it won’t be working if the fuel cartridge is out. Plus the bottom of the unit is open – to easily screw in/out replacement cartridges and as it’s liquid butane, you can see if cartridge is empty or not.
Does the mat only last four 4 consecutive hours, or can they be used intermittently?
I use them generally, for 2 hours for 2 nights. The mat is blue and when it’s ‘exhausted’ it will be white. I use that as a guide.
Can i use these around cats?
Well i have 4 cats and didn’t even think about this. I looked it up and it can be fatal to cats. Don’t know how much they would have to inhale but am thankful that you asked this question and i looked it up! Now i’m aware when we use it and won’t let the cats around it.
