I have a shower stall with a floor drain not a traditional bathtub will this work in that or does it only work in recessed drains like tub drains?

Tubshroom is made to work with tub drains only. The shower drain doesn’t have the cross bars needed to keep the tubshroom from falling through. Plus, the diameter of the standing-shower drains is larger than the tub drains. For these reasons, tubshroom will most likely not work with your shower drain. The showershroom, that was specifically designed for standing-showers will hit the market in about 2-3 months from now. Hope this answers your question.

Will this allow you to plug up tub to take a bath?

If your tub is the kind that you flip the switch on the tub, yes you can leave it in and fill the tub. If you have to put down a stopper to fill the tub, then you would need to take out the tubshroom to take a bath and put it back in.i can take a bath without taking the tubshroom out as i just flip the switch to hold the water in the tub.

Does this catch hair that is shorter in length (a man’s shorter head and body hairs)?

I have 2′ hair and my wife has 20′ hair. It does a great job on both. Longer hair will require you to clean it a little more often. I know it catches both our hair because i have black hair and my wife’s blond, so when i clean it i see both. I doubt any hair can escape this trap. Those that do, will not pose any threat to the drain because those would be to short and go right through. I wish they had this made to fit my shower as well. I measured my shower drain and it is way to large for the tubshroom. Maybe some kind of an adapter guys?..

Will this also work for sinks?

Only for a small % of sinks that are 1.5′ in width. Most sinks are 1.25′, however, and we’re coming out with the sinkshroom for that in two months. Thanks!

Will it mildew? Mold?

I been using it about a month and haven’t noticed any mold or mildew but i suppose mold and mildew could grow on the gunk that the tubshroom catches if you never cleaned it. I take it out and remove the hair (and there is a lot of it) about once a week. It is very easy to clean.

Do you have plans to make a larger tubshroom?

There are plans for a larger version for shower stall drains

I have one and it’s too long for my drain. Drain has a thingy it it that seems unremovable. Would it be semi-effective if i cut off the bottom?

Mine sticks out of our drain and works just fine. If you are talking about the drain block that looks like an x with a small circle in the middle, it should sit right on top. In our shower the tubshroom sits up about 1/2 -3/4 inch and still collects the hair effectively. No need to cut.

Is the bottom open or closed? I have a post that sticks up in the middle of my drain that the shroom would need to fit over…

The core is hollow – open – so it will fit over the post.

Is the tubshroom diswasher safe?

100% yes!

Is there a taller version of this available somewhere or will there be?

Not sure

Does this really “make showering fun again?”

I don’t know about making showering fun, but the product is a disaster and must be a scam. The only way you can use it is to remove the stem that holds the plug in the drain. The plug comes off of the stem easily but without major plumbing renovation you cannot remove the stem. So this product can in no way be installed in a modern tub or shower. I think the whole concept of this product is a scam.

Would this work in a deep laundry sink? I’m concerned about how quickly it lets water run through. Thanks.

Thank you for your question!
While the tubshroom was not designed specifically for the utility sink, some of our customers do use the tubshroom in such applications. This said, please note that the drain size must be between 1.5′ and 1.75′ in inside diameter, and your utility sink drain must have cross bars inside the drain for the product to function properly. Please please be sure to measure your utility sink drain (they do differ) before installing.

Does anyone know how to clean the black goop stains off it? I’ve soaked it in bleach and it’s still there. It’s disgusting!

The tubshroom® is dishwasher safe, and is safe to virtually any bleach-free cleaner in your home. We definitely recommend rinsing the tubshroom® every time that you clean the hair by simply holding it in the stream of warm running water. If your tubshroom® already accumulated some soap sediment, we suggest that you squeeze the tubshroom® a few times in your hand. It will help break up any substance built up on the inside of the unit helping the cleanup process. Then you can soak it in a water and non-bleach cleaner solution, and then use an old toothbrush to clean it. This cleaning method seems to work best after prolonged use. We also recommend this all-purpose cleaner solution:

all-purpose cleaner: mix 1/2 cup vinegar and 1/4 cup baking soda (or 2 teaspoons borax) into 1/2 gallon (2 liters) water.

My standard tub drain is 1.75’…will this work? It’s a regular tub.

I have a kohler tub. The drain is approximately 1.75′ (bigger than 1.5 and less than 2 inches.) the tubshroom does not fit.

What about a shower drain that doesn’t go down? That’s flush with the floor? How would this work?

Tubshroom isn’t designed for shower stall drains because those are typically 2′ or larger, whereas tubshroom is designed for tub drains which are almost universally 1.5′. We’re working on a solution for your type of drain… Stay tuned!

Is the 1 3/4′ drain-size available yet?

It’s getting phased in over the next few months. For now, if you want to be certain, you can search for asin b076fbjcnb which is confirmed to be compatible with 1.5′ and 1.75′ drains. Thanks!

Where is this made?

Proudly designed in the usa and manufactured in the prc

How do you clean the mold? I have tried everything from soaking it in bleach to putting it in the dishwasher with dishwasher cleaning chemicals.

Does this work as a stopper too?

No. It just stops hair from going down…after a bath, i switch out the stopper and put this in while the water drains

I’m remodeling my bathroom and the tubshroom will not look good on the floor of my newly decorated shower floor. Does it come in chrome?

Currently, gray is the closest color available. Is your shower floor drain going to be a 1.5′ drain or a 2′ drain? Tubshroom is designed for 1.5′ drains

Worked for me.

I lose mountains of hair with every shower, and i was having to do drain cleaner every 3rd shower, but so far, this has worked really well for me. I did a good drain clean before first use. This was easy to just push into place and remove, but you do have to clean it after every use or it slows the drainage down to a trickle. A little messy to clean, but sooo worth it.

Fantastic!

I have long hair and i used to use one of those sharp-toothed plastic drain snakes to clear my stopped up bathtub about once a month. I finally got fed up with the grossness and bought one of these. I had to do some googling and youtube searching to figure out what kind of drain stopper i had and how to remove it, but it was pretty simple once i applied a wrench to it. The tubshroom fit perfectly into the drain hole, supported by a plastic or metal crossbar that was a little further down inside the drain. I immediately tried it out and was amazed at how much hair it caught in just one shower. Can’t imagine how much was going down the drain prior to tubshroom. It was easy to lift out, clean, and replace, too. Would definitely recommend this product!

Works as designed

Recently had a plumbing issue in my apartment and i know i needed a good stopper, it catches all the hair and prevents it from going down the drain as designed. The shower drain is a bit different so it sticks out a little bit but i don’t mind it, it still fits. It’s easy to use and clean.

Really catches a lot of hair!

I am very impressed with how much hair this thing traps. It easily gets mostly clean but my one minor complaint is that i wish it was easier to completely clean. However, as it sits in the drain it is not such a big deal. Would highly recommend for keeping hair out of your drain!

Wish i would have bought it years ago

I wish i would have bought this little thing years ago. I used to have to fight with a clogged shower drain about once every 1-2 months due to my long hair blocking the pipe. It is excellent and trapping my hair instead of it going down the drain. I slip my hair off of the bottom of it after every shower and have had absolutely zero issues with my shower drain clogging since i have been using it. Highly highly recommend!!

Love this tubshroom!

I bought this as my hair is longer than shoulder length and i was tired of cleaning out the drain once a month (you know….when you snake out that rat baby worth of hair up and out of the drain and you try not to gag) .
However, i could not believe how it traps even my husband’s super short hair. It is worth every penny as i will never be clogging the tub/shower again.

Legit. Simple device to stop slow/clogged drains

My son has long hair and i was constantly putting drano down the drain to clear up the slow flow. While it worked it was pretty annoying.

This little device immediately solved the issue. No more slow drain. I had a pop up drain that i did have to remove but i never used it anyways and i think that was also causing flow issues.

Must buy if you have long hair and slow/clogged drains.

Best tub mushroom i have used.

I have used quite a few of these over the years. All had short comings such as difficult to clean, easily clogged, etc. This is by far the best i have seen and used. It’s design allows water to flow easily while capturing hair. It doesn’t clog and is extremely easy to clean. I highly recommend if you are looking for a solution to hair in the bathtub.

Best value for the money i've found

For the money you’re not gonna find a better hair & gunk catcher. Anyone who complains about this are the same people that don’t clean it or complain that they have to clean it. Ignore them. What do you expect! It’s a device for catching gross human hair & such in the tub. You’re gonna have to clean it bc it gets dirty! With that being said it works wonderfully & i’m lucky if i have to draino the tub once a year. I used to have to do it 3-4 times with the other drain catch failures. Thankfully i only have to clean the mushroom once every 3-4 days; but if you have more than 1 human in your house with long hair then you’ll have to check it every day. Especially if you have a scrubby teenager living with you. (we all know how they love to skip hygiene day).

Great product

This is a great product which keeps water from pulling in my tub when i’m taking a shower. I would recommend it to anyone. I don’t understand the question about suction power because it doesn’t do anything but sit there. Other than that good product was well worth the money.

Does the job

It works really well, almost too well. The amount of hair i have to pull off of this in between uses, is nuts. This is in the bathroom that my siblings and i use, 3 of us in total. It’s at least 2-3 times a week i’m pulling the hair off. It’s kinda gross but better than having to snake hair out. It’s also not a perfect fit in my drain, i feel it’s a little bit bigger than my drain? But i’m able to wedge it in and make it work.

4Expert Score
The tub will not drain as fast with this in

It sticks up from the shower/tub drain making for easy removal and does catch hair but the first thing you notice is the puddle of water building up around the drain even when its clean. I think this needs to be slightly larger for a tub and have more hole in the bottom to let water flow better. I dont want to stand in dirty water when i’m trying to get clean!

Works well

This product was something that i had heard a lot of buzz about so i bought one for my shower and 1 for my sink. I’m in an rv full time so any hair built up could be a really big problem for my system. So far it’s worked perfect for my shower perfect fit and everything. The sink is another story. It’s probably just because it’s an rv sink but the fit is not quite great so it’s not catching as much hair and it’s creating really gross build-up in the sink.

It’s fine, but …

The holes all over it give me the idea that broken hairs can slip thru. It’s not stopping me from trapping loose hairs while i shower, to temporarily place on the shower wall, because i am totally not confident this plastic hole-filled thing saves me any time at all in showering. The way i keep loose hair out of the drain is by catching my loose hairs in my hands as i wash and condition my hair, placing them on the shower wall until i am done showering. So, this is the drain only in case i miss any. Cleaning the shower wall and this too creates an extra step during busy mornings every weekday.

Definitely keeps hair out

Great for keeping hair out of drain! Only problem we had was it does hold back water a bit and i pull it out after i wash hair for better drainage during rest of shower but i will do the extra not to have hair in my drain all the time!

Works well but will get yucky over time

These do exactly as they are supposed to and keep the hair out of the drain. Overtime, however, they will get a little funky and discolored. This is the second time i have ordered and i am trying a different color (blue). The last one was clear and it turned a displeasing color over time.

Good product

I’ve used this product style in sinks and now i’m using it for tub for dog hair. It’s easy to clean. I noticed the rubber was a little worn like it was sitting a while or older. It’ll still do the job and i like shroom products.

Really works

I shed hair like crazy and my tub drain was constantly plugged. This thing works wonders. Pop out your old drain cover and put the tubshroom in its place. It really catches my hair. The only downside is it’s a little hard to clean all of the hair off of it. I found using a piece of paper towel really helps.

Half truth advertisement

Let’s cut to the chase. While i like this product and i would recommend it the advertisement is a bunch of bull.

I have owned this product for a few weeks. I have a little over shoulder length curly thick hair. (in case you were wondering) i tested it for a week because i wanted to give it a good amount of time to give myself an unbiased opinion.

The advertisement shows hair going down the drain and getting caught in the tubshroom but doesn’t show hair with hair product, soap, or dirt and oils from your body. The mixture of these things actually does cause a bit of a drainage problem and after about a few days of use water began to collect at the bottom of my tub. My husband actually took it out while he showered at one point so he didn’t have to stand in it. So i suggest changing it out every few days and not a week.

Cleaning is also a bit difficult. Because most people shower at least once a day the tubshroom is always wet. In the ads they clean it while the hair is completely dry so it just slides right off. Well the hair product and in my case my husbands alternating shower schedule with mine keeps it wet making it a bit harder to ‘remove the hair with one effortless move.’

after cleaning it i rinsed mine off with hot water and a little bit of dawn dish soap to get off the hair product and all the other grimey stuff off. I’ve since put it back and have found a good schedule as far as cleaning it goes and haven’t had any drainage problems since.

It’s a good product and i do recommend it but i do suggest considering the things that i’ve mentioned.
