TubShroom Tub Hair Catcher Drain Protector, Fits 1.5′-1.75′, Gray

For the money you’re not gonna find a better hair & gunk catcher. Anyone who complains about this are the same people that don’t clean it or complain that they have to clean it. Ignore them. What do you expect! It’s a device for catching gross human hair & such in the tub. You’re gonna have to clean it bc it gets dirty! With that being said it works wonderfully & i’m lucky if i have to draino the tub once a year. I used to have to do it 3-4 times with the other drain catch failures. Thankfully i only have to clean the mushroom once every 3-4 days; but if you have more than 1 human in your house with long hair then you’ll have to check it every day. Especially if you have a scrubby teenager living with you. (we all know how they love to skip hygiene day).

I have long hair and i used to use one of those sharp-toothed plastic drain snakes to clear my stopped up bathtub about once a month. I finally got fed up with the grossness and bought one of these. I had to do some googling and youtube searching to figure out what kind of drain stopper i had and how to remove it, but it was pretty simple once i applied a wrench to it. The tubshroom fit perfectly into the drain hole, supported by a plastic or metal crossbar that was a little further down inside the drain. I immediately tried it out and was amazed at how much hair it caught in just one shower. Can’t imagine how much was going down the drain prior to tubshroom. It was easy to lift out, clean, and replace, too. Would definitely recommend this product!

I’d never seen one of these until we moved into a new place and the landlord had a tubshroom in one of the bathtubs. It had seen better days (even inexpensive hair catchers wear out over time), but we decided right away that we wanted them for both full baths— these little rubber gadgets work better than any hair catchers i’ve seen in half a century.

They’re quite simple— just a (slightly) mushroom shaped cylinder, its length pierced with holes through which the shower water flows, while hair is caught and wrapped around the base.

I can’t speak to the physics of how it works, but i can vouch for the fact that it does. It’s mildly yucky— hair and soap are— but a quick swipe with a couple of fingers and the hair is in the trash, vice blocking the drains. No more snaking or dumping chemical drain cleaner down the pipes!

The shroom is super flexible so it should fit any drain, it fit mine. The shroom itself does limit the flow of the water going down the drain so when hair gets caught too it clogs the area very quickly. I use this when i bath my dog in my bathtub and i have to clear it out often to prevent the bathtub from filling up. But it does the job, catches the hair, and is super easy to use!

I should be paid for all the advertisement i do for this product. Nothing has ever come close to working like this. The person who invented this is a genius. All the others cover the top with hair and then the water won’t go down. This slips into the drain and catches
ever hair. It’s so easy to pull the circle of hair off of it when finished. We used to get the drain plugged all the time before. Now never! I can’t say i love it enough.

I have tried every hair catcher conceivable on the market. The rave reviews for tubshroom had me thinking so there was nothing to lose except the costly plumber and everything to gain – hopefully a clear drain.
Pros: the tubshroom collected the hair as promised after regular shampooing and conditioning but the big test was after using my in-shower hair mask which is a heavy cream product applied after shampooing but before the final conditioning. During this time, after applying the cream product, i lather up/rinse off then apply my conditioner. I kept one eye on the drain to monitor the results. Tubshroom performed as expected. Everything went down the drain and no residue in the tub – by residue i mean product suds that caused a slippery surface in the tub.. My first two photos above show how the hair did, in fact, wrap around the tubshroom and not down the drain. The third photo shows the amount of hair tubshroom caught. I used my styling brush as a dark backdrop so you can see the hair.
Cons: only 2 – #1 my drain is just a hair (pardon the pun) smaller than the tubshroom; hence the bottom of the gadget is slightly bent but still does the job 100%. #2- because i was in the shower for an extensive amount of time during this 1x a month treatment, the water did back up but only an inch or 2; however, the minute i turned off the shower, the water drained immediately. That’s my lori-stori for tubshroom which i highly recommend. I planned to make a video but my cellphone has limitations so i hope my review and photos help amazon customers with this 5-star decision. Thank you. Psst: this product also makes a great holiday stocking stuffer.

So these tub shrooms are perfect for open drains, we were constantly clogging the drain. They catch the hair, and any fuzz or anything that gets in it.
Which also makes it really gross! I have to empty ours every day or two, and that part is *blech* but if you keep up with it, it’s ok.

This is an absolute life saver! I had a baby 6 months ago so i’m losing so much hair postpartum. I would have to use a drain snake all the time, i tried different drain covers and they still let hair through. This thing makes it so much easier to pop in and out after showers!

I have a septic system and somewhere along the drain line hair and grease always gets caught up. I would have to snake the drain about once a year when it finally plugged up. Ick! I bought this little gem in 2021 and it’s been more than a year since i was forced to snake the drain. The drain still flows freely with no sign of partial blockage. Amazing!

I’ve seen where others leave it in for a long time and things get gross. I clean it every few days and don’t leave it in all the time and it is never slimy or gross other than the clean hair itself.

Buy this thing. You won’t regret it.

Do you have hair? Do you bathe? Then you need this tub shroom. I have long hair. My partner has short hair. My dog has medium hair. All of which are caught with the tub shroom, avoiding the myriad other drain clogging products. A must for any house, apartment, rv, or other dwelling place.

I shed hair like crazy and my tub drain was constantly plugged. This thing works wonders. Pop out your old drain cover and put the tubshroom in its place. It really catches my hair. The only downside is it’s a little hard to clean all of the hair off of it. I found using a piece of paper towel really helps.

Was having to clean hair out of tub drain pretty often so decided to give this a try. Not sure if it’s trapping all the hair hitting the drain but it does seem to get a lot. The amount i’ve cleaned from it each time would have been at least a good start to a slow/plugged drain. Much rather clean this every week or two than shop vac or snake the drain every month or two like i have been. Can usually tell when it needs cleaning as tub drains slow.

This is a great product that effectively catches hairs while not seeming to interfere with the flow of water. Also this model made of pure silicone is much easier to clean than the metal models (i have one of those for the bathroom sink).

The only downside is that it’s almost too tall for my drain. It goes crooked easily because of how much is sticking out, which makes it look unstable, but to its credit, i haven’t had a problem with it coming out of the drain accidentally.

Does well catching all hair and preventing from getting into drain. Is easy but yucky to clean as you have to touch the hair trapped on it.

We have been using this for about 6 months now. It seems to work quite well. I have long hair and we also bathe our dogs in the bathtub. This seems to catch a lot of the hair. The only downside we have found is that it is easier to clean when it it dry, but usually you only notice that it needs to be cleaned once your tub isn’t draining properly anymore. Obviously, when that happens it is now wet. So remembering to check it before each shower, just in case, is a bit of a hassle (really, it only needs to be cleaned about once per week). Overall we still prefer this to using drain cleaner chemicals when the drain gets clogged.

If you’re the type of person who just… Really likes gross stuff… This is up your alley – because let me tell you, when you do eventually remember that this little guy is down there and hasn’t been checked in a while, you’re gonna pluck him out of the drain and begin the process of unwinding what can only be described as drowned roadkill. Every bit of soap, shampoo, etc that goes down the train will become part of the growing beast of human hair and slime to the point where it’s just unpleasant to clean.

It’s not hard to clean. No special tools or chemicals needs. It’s just unpleasant to clean. Like, you need a strong stomach. Maybe i just live with really gross people and we’re balding at a rate never before documented by science – but the absolute nightmares this thing produces are… Well… Hopefully you get my point.

The very fact that it’s producing so many tribbles as opposed to letting them inevitably colonize in the drain and require intervention from yet another disgruntled plumber, however, surely means the design is good and well worth the money.

I lost a lot of hair due to my autoimmune disorders. I would have to use drano quite a bit in my tub and that cannot be too good for the pipes. I bought this tub shroom to help mitigate that problem. I have had better drainage and not any standing water while showering (yuck!). The main issue i have is cleaning it. Hair is gross, wet slimy hair is even worse. I am not a fan of pulling the hair out. I wish there was a way to get the hair without touching it. Plus, a few strands get tangled in the shroom and you have to work to get them out.
All in all, it’s a good purchase. I do not have the draining issues like i used to, but i do not like cleaning the shroom out.

Next order will definitely be some sort of color. I ordered clear and it turned yellowish, making it yucky looking. Haha.

It’s amazing how much hair this soft rubber gadget catches. My husband and i both have short hair, so i’m amazed to see how much hair is going down the tub drain! It’s a little big in diameter, but maybe that’s what is needed for it to fit and stay in. I am very happy with it. But must play with it to get it to fit, and sometimes the force of the tub water knocks it over. Buy it; it’s worth the little effort. Kudos to the inventor!
