I’ve never had a problem with turbotax deluxe 2021 tax software, federal tax return only with federal e-file. As long as i have all the necessary paperwork ready and available, i can complete my tax return fairly quickly and e-file is quite convenient and fast. I usually get my refund quickly thanks to e-file.

Ok. We all hate tax season. This will get you though it with minimal pain. There are several different versions depending on your tax situation. I live in a no state income tax state, so my version (deluxe) with no state filing was $10 cheaper than the deluxe version with state tax. This software easily loads and will search for any updates prior to using. It asks you simple questions which you answer with your information and prompts you each step of the way. After you have completed each of the sections, it will conduct a review looking for errors and problems. It will tell you the probability of getting an audit based upon your answers through the input section. Once you have taken care of those, it will then allow you to electronically file your taxes with both the federal and state returns. It will provide you updates on the status of your return until it is accepted by irs. It isn’t fun having to do this, but this software makes is easy.

I hate paying taxes, especially to the federal government. Since we have no choice in the matter under threat of penalties or worse, jail time, using a good software program to calculate the damage is a good idea. Turbotax is easy to use and as thorough as you need it to be. Filing your return is easy and makes getting a refund, should you be lucky enough or careless enough to overpay, a breeze. If you have to pay taxes, and every decent hard working person does, get turbotax. I recommend it.

Been using turbotax for almost 40 years. Consistent good value in the deluxe version without paying for stuff i don’t need. Sometimes have to search for forms not in standard interview set, but always gets the job done.

Very easy to upload and install. The program is very easy to use and offers help/explanations along the way making the whole tax process go smoothly. Turbo tax guides you through every topic asking questions to help you find as many deductions as possible. You have the opportunity to review every section and turbo tax does a final review for errors and accuracy. We’ve used turbo tax exclusively for over 10 years and this is by far and away the most economical way to purchase it.

Have used turbotax for many years and keep coming back to it. It makes taxes easy and is very inexpensive. Some more complicated things like back-door roth could be better spelled out in the software.

I highly recommend this program for doing your income taxes. I have used it for years and never had a problem nor an audit due to its accuracy.

Saw some reviews of people saying they removed the schedule d forms for deluxe and couldn’t import stock transactions. I had zero issues importing stock info from tda and fidelity. Also most legit brokers give you a summary page so you can manually input a few lines and there’s no need to manually input each transaction 1 by 1 as one review claimed. No need to upgrade to premiere for the same forms that deluxe has.

This is the second year for me to use turbotax for our very uncomplicated tax return. It is definitely not the most user friendly software! The price makes the frustration involved worth while since i would have to pay 4 times as much to a local accounting firm. I cannot get the return done in one session, though, because of the spots which are so confusing that i have to take a break and come back the next day.

I am not the only one experiencing these issues. I did a lot of research on line and there are tons of people who write to complain that the software does not allow you to enter your bank information for where to send your refund. Nowhere on line could i find an explanation of how to deal with this perceived problem. It does not explain that what looks like the final step is not the final step at all — and it is only trial and error that gets you past that issue to the step where you do enter the bank information.

The other issue for this year is the deduction for charitable contributions. It shows that if you are filing jointly you can deduct $600, but if filing individually you can deduct only $300. Well that is all well and good but when i put in the $600 it gave me an error message, so i changed it to $300 and it gave me the same error message. I think it took 4 or 5 tries before the software ‘liked’ the $600 figure. We did itemize considerably more than that amount so there should not have been a glitch like that.

Was it worth saving the $100 or more vs. Taking the information to an accountant? Most probably, but i really cannot give it mroe than the 3 stars.

Yet getting hard to pay for when there are free options.

The irs introduced a new schedule b to form 1116 foreign tax credit. The instructions are in incomprehensible irs speak. So here’s a clue: line one of the schedule b is the carry over generated in the column year less any used up to the current tax year. It’s simply what remains of that year’s generated carryover before the current tax year.

H&r block instructed you to fill out schedule b yourself but at least turbo tax tried so you can efile that schedule. In turbo tax enter two numbers for each year. One is the foreign tax paid in the indicated year and two is the total of maximum credit in the indicated year plus any surplus carried back to the previous year or carried over to the years up to the current tax year.

For this reason, i’m a convert from h&r block to the better but more expensive turbo tax. One star deducted for promotions and upgrade offers you need to click through.

Turbotax has been around forever, one of the original players in the tax prep software game. I have tried other software and, while turbotax is good, the performance gap between it and others has nearly closed. Since using other product’s names is sometimes frowned on, i will simply say this software is a great option on sale, but the competition has made it impossible for turbotax to command the premium price tag. It has its quirks like the others; once you figure them out, it works very good.

I had used turbo tax free edition for several years. They pulled out of the irs free file program this year. Since i had used it before and was comfortable with the format i decided to purchase from amazon as it was $10 cheaper than i could find it elsewhere. I tried to import last year’s return from a pdf saved on my laptop. It said import was unsuccessful. Was an inconvenience to have to enter everything manually. Other than that, it performed as expected as in previous years free file. I submitted for my refund and got an acceptance a short time later..

I bought it, i got the email telling me how to download it, but the 1st step does not work.
No link to download just takes me to the page i bought it from.
I checcked my orders and it’s not there.
The charge appears on my credit card.
I replied to the email but haven’t heard back, yet.
I’ll update this review if anything changes.

finally got another email that allowed me to download the software.
I guess i was a bit impatient.

I dislike doing taxes but turbo tax makes it barely bearable.

Another review said the deluxe version no longer does stock transactions and that you need to buy premium. I just used this deluxe version and it downloaded all my transactions from my broker just like previous years.

Very easy to download and get started entering data.
