First time changing the oil on my 2014 kia forte 1.8 lt, i’m at about 13,600 miles. Would this be a good synthetic alternative othen than shell?
As long as you use an oil with the same weight, i.e. 5-20w, and as long you use the same type, i.e. Regular, blend or full synthetic, and you don’t mix oils, you will be fine. Check your owner’s manual for the specified oil type, amount and change-out frequency. Most cars now have the type of oil specified right there on the filler cap. I recommend however that you change your oil more frequently, like every 5000-7500 miles. 13,600 is too many miles. The oil’s viscosity (slipperyness) breaks down and stops lubricating your engine. If there’s anything you can do to keep a car running well over time, it is to change the oil– and filter– regularly.

Is this specific weight and brand of oil ilsac certified? Thank you.
The up to date certification now is ilsac 6a ; sp
I have a honda accord 2010 with more 85xxx miles, 5w-20 is the one i need, but what would be better? This one or the high mileage blend they have
Valvoline recommends high mileage for anything above 75,000. I’ve been using high mileage in my car since about 75, and i’m at 215000 now. There’s really no harm in using high mileage so you might as well make the switch.
Hi. I have a touareg hybrid 2011. Can i use this oil? Also i’ve already used mobil oil on the car. Can i just add this oil to the car ?
Unfortunately, this product does not meet the oem requirements for your volkswagen. We recommend using the valvoline 5w-30 mst synpower full synthetic motor oil – 1qt (787301). The mst oil will meet the requirements for your vehicle and will not cause any sort of issues when using.
How long between oil changes?
Because it is a full synthetic i would say how long you could go really depends on how long the filter can go not the oil. Filtration is really the key. So if you get a filter that can filter for 15000 miles guaranteed, then this oil is more than capable of going 15000 miles. But if you get a filter that’s only capable of filtering for 10,000 miles. Then i would change the oil and filter at 10,000 miles. Also don’t ever go off oil color. That’s a bad practice. Either go off monthly intervals or mileage. You don’t ever go off color. Just because the oil is turning black doesn’t mean it’s bad. Because of the combustion blow by that gets into the oil, that’s what changes the oil color. But that doesn’t mean the oil is losing its ability to lubricate or protect your engine. I change the oil in my car and truck once a year. I use a full synthetic oil with a filter capable of filtering up to 10,000 miles. I don’t ever worry about mileage because i don’t put 10,000 miles on my vehicles in a year. So i change the oil once a year. So remember filtration is the key, if you want to go 10,000 miles you have to get a filter that can go 10000 miles.

Is this good for 2008 mercedes e320 diesel?
I would call just a local mercedes benz & ask year, make, model what’s recomended , i always put rotella 15w~40 in desiels , but i’ve seem benz call for different viscosities , moving parts ( tolerances between them ) change over the year , and recommended oil changes with model to model as well ! I royal purple synthetic personality a k& n air cleaner & royal purple once or twice a year depends on miles usually once n winter , once n summer ? That alone gas mileage increases about 9mpg !
& the k & n is lifetime warranty for all, so never need to buy , just clean & oil … K&n oil & cleaner too .
Here’s a lnk on amazon for benz – it i didn’t look @ it for models or year , clearances are pretty iimportant when buying oil more so than brand , viscosity for specific model 😉
/www.amazon.com/mercedes-benz-5w30-synthetic-229-52/dp/b00r0crisi
then rotwlla 15w – 40 is a common desire oil …. I’d still look up year, make , & engine size ~ most important one (engine size)

Why does the box of the 3 5 quart jugs cost so much? A single 5 quart is $20 vs. $116 for 3.
Because your saving money on bottles.

Not 20w50 it’s way too thick. 10w30 should be fine

Is this the one that’s wet clutch compatible (on the label)? (like a hd vrod needs) or just a ‘regular’ synthetic.
Yes
I see this oil does not have mb approval for 229.51 — what about 228.51 or 229.31? All are ok for my 2008 sprinter 3.0l diesel.
Consult mb bevo https://bevo.mercedes-benz.com/bevolisten/229.51_en.html
Im in hot south florida, okay to use 5w-30 full synthetic instead of 5w-20 on my 4 cylinder? Will it void ram warranty?
Idk my 03 ford lightning calls for 5w20, but when gen2 lightnings were first released in 99 they called for 5w30 for the first few years and they then changed to a 5w20 in like 01 or 02, but nothing was changed in the engine that would of necessitated a thinner oil. I’ve almost always run 5w30 in my lightning since buying it in 2010 with 89k miles and which has well over 200k miles and it runs like a top with no noticeably lose of oil between changes. Same with my terminator. It calls for 5w20, but just a year or two before that all modular vehicles called for 5w30. I bought my cobra in 06 and rarely ran 5w20, but i have used it, and i have ran it one or twice in my lightning, and have experienced zero issues running either 5w30 or 5w20 in either vehicle regardless of outside temps. (i’m in sc btw)
same with my wifes taurus sel. It calls for 5w20, but i’ve ran both weights and haven’t experienced an issue with either. It has the n/a version of the 3.5l ford v6. The boosted version is the 3.5l ecoboost which calls for a 5w30 oil. If the oil passages in the ecoboost can flow a heavier weight then the cyclone (or whatever ford calls the n/a 3.5l v6) can flow a 5w30 without issue as well. Manufacturers like to switch to a thinner 5w20 for supposed improvements in mpg’s. I’m not really a fan of thin oil though. Still i will say that if the oem manufacture says to run a 5w20 weight then you should be gtg with an oil in that weight regardless of whether or not you’re in florida or in maine. Following the oem recommendation is the safe and likely smartest thing to do.
Btw in my 19 ss 1le i usually run a 5w30 even though it calls for a 0w40. The reason for this is that the only 0w40 with a dexos2 rating is from mobil1. I am not a mobil1 fan and i don’t want to be a slave to that one particular overpriced oil. When the gen5 lt1 was first released it was spec’d to run a 5w30 and there are several 5w30 oils with a dexos2 rating. Right now i’m running motul x-clean 5w40 in it which is the only other 40 weight other than mobil1 0w40 esp that i know of that carries a dexos2 rating. The car runs fine with all the oils i’ve ran in it regardless of 30 or 40 weight. It ran great on the oem recommended mobil1 0w40 esp, but i’ve had past letdowns with mobil1 (mobil1 always seems to run on the thin side for any give weight imo) and the mobil1 0w40 esp is expensive for oil that’s no better than a lot of other oils on the market, but it falls into that new emissions friendly oil category that’s supposed to not harm modern emission systems or build up a bunch of carbon on the intake valves on these modern direct injection engines, and because of this it adds more to the cost of the oil compared to the typical mobil1 0w40 european car formula oil. But i’ve gotten off topic so let me end it there.
