How many grams of protein per serving? Do people use this as a base for protein shakes?
Nine (9) grams protein per scoop. This much protein is a major boon for my 90-yr-old mom, who cannot eat enough protein to meet her daily goals. She is sensitive to ‘funny tastes’ and textures and she loves this unflavored, completely dissolvable product! She uses it in her coffee, soups, drinks, shakes, even gravy! She asked me to put it on automatic order. Hooray ! So happy we found this.

What is the difference between the blue cap and the green cap version? Which one should i buy to help with skin and joints? Thank you
Hi sue, thanks for the question. The main difference between our collagen peptides (blue cap) and beef gelatin (green cap) is that they collagen peptides will dissolve into hot and cold liquids and our beef gelatin will dissolve into hot, but gel in cold. People use this one to make things like gummies, parfaits, puddings etc. Both will provide skin and joint benefits.

What type of collagen is this powder. Is it type 1, 2, or 3?
Important: according to vital proteins website, the container with the plant pictured on it only contains type 1 collagen. Their container with the cow pictured, contains types 1 & 3. I just found this out by reading answers to consumer questions on the actual vital proteins website. I’ve been getting this one with the plant on it thinking i was getting both types & am not. The one with the plant is the same one that’s sold in costco & walmart. This amazon supplier is selling this type 1 collagen as if it were types 1 & 2 & according to vp’s website, it is not.

Is this type 1, 2, or 3 collagen? Does it state it anywhere on the container?
I have emailed to company since no one seems to know for sure – will let you know if i get an answer! Update – it is type 1 only. This is from the manufacturer. Here is a link i found about how the different types differ… Http://theydiffer.com/difference-between-collagen-1-2-and-3/
The product title indicates that it is a 10 oz container, however the container shows 20 oz. I am hoping based on the price that it is 20 oz?
I buy the 24 oz container at costco for $30. The online price at vital proteins is $40. A nice bargain at costco!!
I am looking to start suplimenting with collagen. How does this one taste? May sound funny, but i don’t eat beef, and wonder if this is going to mak
For those who say this tastes like beef bouillon, i’m wondering if you ordered the beef broth collagen, instead of the plain beef collagen peptides. I’ve a pretty sensitive pallet & detect no oder or taste from the plain collagen peptides. Also, there are collagen peptide creamers for coffee – but those definitely have a taste (one i do not care for myself!).

Is it safe to assume the cows raised for this product are not treated with growth hormones of fattened up with grain feed before slaughter?
Most collagen comes from animals raised in brazil….all bad. However, i still buy it for now till i can find a more responsibility manufactured product. Do some research on big beef manufacturers in south america and the damage they do.
Is there any reason this product is not in a capsule?
I’m guessing it’s because one serving is 2 scoops. That would be too much to put in 1 or 2 capsules. I’ve mixed this in my coffee, smoothies, juice, soups and even in my applesauce. It doesn’t change the consistency of the food and has very little flavor.
Is the phenylalanine in this product: l-phenylalanine, d-phenylalanine or dl-phenylalanine?
This product contains l-phenylalanine. This collagen is an animal-based, whole food, completely natural powder. L-phenylalanine can come from meat, eggs, or dairy. (d-phenylalanine, in contrast, is created in a laboratory. And dl-phenylalanine is a combination of both.)
Do both kinds (the green lid and the blue lid) have the same benefits for anti aging and gut health?
I prefer blue lid – it’s much easier to use because it can go in hot or cold drinks. It also has a bit higher mg in protein and amino acids.
Is it ok to drink this along with my whey protein & wheatgrass shake as post workout in the morning?
Hi mikhail, thanks for the question. You can drink this with your whey and wheatgrass. Our collagen peptides does have 18g of protein per serving, so that is something to keep in mind when you are combing with a whey protein. Please let us know if you have any other questions.
Can i use this product with my whey smoothie or is there enough with the collagen?
I was instructed by my healthcare practitioner to drink my collagen cocktail ( just mix it in water) first thing in the morning on an empty stomach so it lines the gut. Then later i make a whey /plant based protein smoothie for lunch or breakfast.
Is this product made in usa?
According to the label it is manufactured in the usa, but that is misleading. I would want to know the type of animals being processed and where they were raised. Collagen can be derived from numerous species, not just cattle. Also, i assume that feed and grazing methods vary widely around the world. Who knows what additives or chemicals (steroids, antibiotics, etc.) have been given to the animal prior to their use in this product?
Ideally, i would want to see something like: ‘derived from cattle born and raised in the usa, pasture grazed.’ not perfect, but a little peace of mind…

Is this soy free?
Yes, this should be soy free. Soy is not listed in any of the ingredients; however, it is manufactured in a facility that produces milk, fish, and tree nuts.
The difference between collagen and collagen peptides?
Collagen peptides are derived from actual collagen, or collagen gelatin. There is one more step of processing from gelatin to the peptides. There is the same amino acid profile of both the vital proteins collagen protein and vital proteins collagen peptides (i’ve checked on green and blue labels) the peptides can dissolve in hot and cold water while the gelatin will gel when introduced to warm water.

Yes you can i mix it in my water and i never tasted it doesn’t have a tasted
Just opened my container and it is only half full? Is that how it’s supposed to be? It did dissolve quickly in my coffee and had on taste at all.
