Has anyone else notice difference in the recent batch of wipes–in terms of texture and smell?

YES! Last two monthly subscriptions from Amazon (April & May 2019) have been different. The package now has a harder plastic flap on it which isn’t too big of deal except possibly being non-recyclable (not sure but I put them in with the plastic bags recycling). But the BIG change is the smell – musty or something hard to describe. In April I thought maybe they had sat outside my house in the heat for a day but then again in May means something changed! We used them to wash our hands sometimes and it leaves a musty smell on hands plus imagine on baby’s diaper area… This is SO disappointing because we have ordered a case of these every month for 5.5 years now!

Can they be flushed?

You should never flush wipes, whether they are marked flushable or not. The proof can be found in any plumbing industry chat room. If you are staying in some night and need something to do, just browse through the plumbing industry chat rooms online. You will notice the word “softball” coming up quite a lot when describing clogs that are caused by a multitude of disposable wipes. Extracting these plugs from can be very costly and yet often necessary in your home drain pipes if you insist in flushing disposable wipes. But it dose not stop there, many cities are experiencing sewage clogs from disposable wipes. Many cities have been reporting a significant rise in sewage system clogs directly related to flushable wipes. Because this causes an increase in maintenance costs, they have requested that residents not flush them down the toilet. Some cities have placed disposable wipes high on their list of “debris” that causes the majority of their sewage system backups. To help combat this situation the cities are now starting to pass laws making it illegal to flush wipes.

Does the whole box expire in four weeks?

Funny you should ask – I wondered that too when I purchased them in October of 2013 – the answer is NO! They do not all expire in four weeks. My individual packages all have expiration dates of August 2014. Although, for something like this, I agree with Anthony A. the dates are not really relevant as long as they stay wet. B

How is this $.03 per wipe of there 120 wipes total and it’s $19??

the advertisement is 180 wipes (3×60) = 0.1125 per wipe. Something is definitely wrong with the calculation

Are they compostable/biodegradable? Exactly what are the fibers made of?

Biodegradable, yes. Water Wipes’ website says they are “100% viscose” which is a biodegradable plant material, mimicking cotton. However, to produce viscose, it’s basically cellulose that’s treated with chemicals to make fibers that can be woven into products. If you search Wikipedia for “Viscose”, you’ll get the page for “Rayon”. Same thing.

What is the shelf life of unopened pack? How long before the pack goes bad after it’s been opened?

My pack has a manufacture date of 04/2013 and expires on 10/2014 so a year and half. On the pack it says once opened use within 1 month

Where are these produced?

Where are these made?

Are they Scent free & flushable?

They are scent free, but I don’t think baby wipes are flushable.

2 Ingredients is impossible, what and how is the actual wipe made of?

You could look up Water Wipes website but I’m guessing that might tax you so I, a satisfied customer shall answer your inquiry.

I live in Texas where it is extremely hot in summer and use baby wipes on my face to wipe off sweat. Water Wipes are the basic cotton wipe, perfectly damp with water and a drop of grapefruit juice (it states this on the package. I have very sensitive skin and must be careful of alcohol (which most wipes have) and chemicals because my skin burns, turns red and has even blistered. Water Wipes doesn’t harm my skin, has no scent and is economical. I’ve used 2 cases of the products and will continue using them. The company is working on a biodegradable wipe to come in the near future. They are a product from Ireland and have the same guidelines as the US that all ingredients must be listed.
I suggest you try the product before being a negative Nancy!

what is the expiration date on these?

I bought these in April 2020 and they expire in August 2020.

I have heard because no preservatives, these may be prone to mold. Has anyone experienced?

We’ve been using these for months and have had no problem. We open one package of wipes and keep it in the wipe warmer. When it’s almost up, we add a new pack and move the older ones to the top. There’s also one pack in the diaper bag. We store them in a cool dry, dark place. Zero problems with mold.

What material is the wipe made of?

The material in WaterWipes is made from 20% Viscose and 80% Polyester, because of this, only 20% of the wipe material is biodegradable.

Can you get this product listed in Amazon’s Subscribe & Save catalog?

Yes, now you can subscribe to the 9-pack units.

Do these work as well as other wipes?

They do work, but they are harder to get out of the package than other words I’ve used. They also seen to kinda pull on my daughter’s skin as I wipe. Like other wipes slide easier across the skin.

How do these wipes compare to seventh generation’s free & clear wipes?

These wipes have more ingredients than listed on Amazon. When the box arrives, you will see a notation that they contain trace amounts of Benzalkonium Chloride.

Where is this waterwipes (baby wipes) product is manufactured — what country? i do not see any info. on this in the product description…!

It doesn’t actually say on the packaging. There is contact info on the packaging if you like to contact them directly: Irish Breeze Ltd. PH# +353 41 9877460 or at info@waterwipes.com. They are based out of Drogheda, Co. Louth, Ireland

Do water wipes come in tubs?

No and they don’t work with tubs or warmers anyway. Pulling one wipe does cause the next wipe to trail like most other brands so each wipe must be pulled out individually. It’s incredibly obnoxious and frustrating when in the middle of a messy diaper change.

Does this still have grapefruit seed extract or did it change to soap berry extract?

Yes, they still had a splash of grapefruit extract. These are the only wipes my daughter will use on our grandson.

Does this use any type of cotton?

I don’t think so. On their website it says “Our wipe material is a blend of 80% polyester and 20% viscose, which makes 20% of our wipe biodegradable. ”

I’m confused… How many packs of how many wipes? Thanks!

There’s 12 packs of wipes inside. Each pack has 60 so 720 total in the package 🙂 We love these wipes!

Nothing else will do for Baby Boy

When I first delivered my son the hospital supplied us with  Huggies Little Snugglers  diapers and  Pampers Sensitive Wipes . When he was very little the diapers were perfectly fine even though I had my heart set on pampers and pre-bought a bunch of preemies, newborns and size 1’s. Long story short – after a couple of weeks the Huggies started to leak and we we had to switch brands.I was super glad we had stocked up on Pampers diapers, which haven’t failed us thus far.

HOWEVER, I do have to say that the Pampers wipes were not so great. The hospital gave us some wipes to take home with us and I bought about a million before little man was born.

After just a few days out of the hospital, we noticed that his little bum was a bit red and irritated and I assumed he was somehow getting a diaper rash – which was perplexing because my fiance and are I always on top of his hygiene. We took him to the pediatrician who told us NO to Pampers, even the sensitive kind, and that she has had babies come into her office with chemical burns from wipes such as Pampers and Huggies.

Her suggestion (or kind of demand) was that we buy giant cotton balls and use warm water. WELL, if you’re a new parent or a parent in general and living in the real world – this is not as easy-peasy as it sounds. I was willing to do it because, well, doctors orders and I don’t want my son to be harmed in any way. My fiance was less than convinced about this process but I was not about to let him use Pampers or Huggies or basically any other kind of chemical wipe. But I certainly I wasn’t going to let him get out of diaper duty because it was too much of an inconvenience to use cotton balls and water.

I did some investigating and was a little unsettled about the hidden ingredients in most baby wipe brands.According to the Environmental Working Group’s analysis of ingredients commonly found in products such as cosmetics and baby wipes – up to 95% of baby wipes, specifically, may be contaminated with impurities that are, mind-boggingly- not regulated by the government. While the ingredients in the wipes aren’t necessary toxic in themselves – chemical carcinogens, namely nitrosamines, can potentially form during the manufacturing process, during interaction with what the item is packaged in and after the product has been opened and stored. Essentially, some of the ingredients in baby wipes become contaminated for the aforementioned reasons and thus become entirely different ingredients that technically are not required to be disclosed to customers.

I’m not a chemist and I know plenty of people who use and swear by Pampers and Huggie’s wipes. Their babies and children are seemingly fine. It’s doubtful every pack of baby wipes is going to cause cancer or contact dermatitis. And while not an alarmist – nonetheless, I was concerned about the information I came across. Also, I did not want to defy our son’s doctor because she’s totally awesome and an itty itty bit intimdiating. So that was it for me. I love you Pampers Swaddlers but your wipes gotta go and you can take most of your competitor brands with you.

Except WaterWipes. When I found out these wipes were made of mostly water with a hint of grapefruit extract – I felt like this could be an excellent compromise between warm water and cotton balls and easily disposable and safe wipes IF WaperWipes lived up to its claims. I read up on the Amazon reviews and the majority of the reviews were positive and encouraging; thus I decided it was definitely worth trying. I must say that WaterWipes has lived up to its promises.

Some of the reviewers claim these wipes are too dry. I kind of find this to be an issue with wipes in general. I’ve never used a brand of wipes that were super moist and stayed that way. It’s just par for the course, IMO.

I love these wipes. They are gentle enough to use anywhere. I even sometimes use them to remove my makeup in a pinch, even scrub off mascara. At first I thought the tiny bit of grapefruit extract might burn my eyes, but it did not. Also, there is no heavy fragrance to WaterWipes, which I can’t stand in most baby products. The wipes don’t dry out while being stored. They don’t turn yellow or start to look burnt in the wipe warmers like some of the other brands I’ve used or seen used.

I find it silly that some people complain about the price because it only has water and grapefruit extract. I’d rather pay more for simplicity that pay less for a bunch of chemicals that gave my baby red skin that was on the verge of becoming raw had our doctor not stopped us in time. I don’t find the price to be outrageous – but even if it were – I’d probably still buy them for the sake of convenience. And, as I said, I like having them around for myself. I have a wipe warmer in every room and if I need to wash little man’s face from spit up or his hands from drool or my hands from baby formula – no need to dash to the sink every time. I use these wipes instead, they are very multi-purposed.

The one little complaint I have is that they don’t seem to come apart easily. I’m NEVER ever able to pull them out individually from the wipe warmers so we just lift the whole thing up and grab what we need. My fiance, my friend who is frequently here and mostly anyone else is able to take one wipe at a time this way. But I can’t help but manage to grab AT LEAST four every time, but that problem seems to be on my end. Also, before we got the WaterWipes, we seemed to have a problem with ANY brand of wipes easily dispensing from the warmer or their packages. This annoys me about wipes in general but nothing is really perfect. These wipes, however, come pretty darn close.

I won’t buy anything else and I won’t recommend anything else.

Natural but effective wipes

Our two month old was having a bad case of diaper rash. In researching, wipes and types of diapers make a difference in what causes diaper rash. I immediately researched different types of baby wipes and diapers that are natural based for sensitive skin. I came across Waterwipes and decided to try them. After a week of using them, our baby’s bottom started to get better.

I love the fact they are natural (water and fruit extract based), no plastic which was a must for me, and they wipe away soiled skin beautifully. I would highly recommend if your baby is having diaper rash and looking for a product that helps in that regard.

Safe for our little one

We used this product for our newborn that is now 8 months old. We picked this product because it does not have any harsh chemicals like other brands. The wipes stayed moist until the last wipe was used and the sticky seal worked as long as it was re-sealed with no crinkles on the top of the wipe package.

The wipes can easily be ripped in half so the wipes last twice as long.

Save my girls butt

After Huggies “natural” wipes gave my daughter a rash so bad she was raw we switched to water wipes which has minimal ingredients. Love how much you can clean with one wipe and how truly good for sensitive skin they are. The only downside is they are a pain in the ass to pull out of the pack because it’s not a continuous pull- worth the pain to know I’m not putting green washed wipes on my daughters bottom

awesome

These wipes are great for wiping babies face and hands.. my son has sensitive skin and these never leave a rash on his face like other wipes we have tried. They are soft on skin and do not really have a scent so my son didn’t mind when I used them

our favorite wipes

We tried lots of options: several kinds of wipes, a wipe warmer, etc But in the end our favorite we’re these because there are no chemicals and you can use them for anything. They are handy to clean his hands and face with as well and I don’t have to worry about what’s in them.

There’s a reason why they aren’t good for wipe warmers. Having chemicals in them to keep them from molding should be a red flag.

Super good!

I love these baby wipes for my baby girl. I don’t feel like they irritate her at all! Unlike other brands they’re very saturated so it doesn’t take a lot of rubbing to wipe everything off. They’re great! Also got as a baby shower gift and loved that!!!

Doesn't bother my skin

I have a compositae allergy (it’s a contact dermatitis) so I have to be very careful on products I use. Water Wipes do not bother my skin, also they’re not scented. They do the job, I can use on my face chest, neck, arms with no allergic reaction! Love these!

Won’t use anything else!

After Huggies Natural Care wipes irritated my baby’s bum we switched to these (we weren’t positive it was the wipes) and LOVE THEM. One time we ran out and had to use the huggies again, and sure enough it was the wipes. As soon as we switched back the rash went immediately away! We love water wipes!

Great for sensitive bums.

This product is awesome. My baby gets a lot of diaper rash and the other wipes have not helped. My baby would scream anytime I used other baby wipes, but no pt with this one. As a matter of fact her rashes have reduced after changing wipes and diapers.

Great for sensitive skin

The thing I was most excited about for my son to potty train was not having to buy wipes anymore because these were the only ones he could use, and I swear daycare used 8 per diaper change because I had to bring in a new sleeve of wipes 1-2 times a week! That said – these were the only wipes I could use after target changed their up&up formulation on their hypoallergenic wipes so I continued paying $$ because I didn’t have another choice. They perform well (though personally I think they’re a bit thin for their price). Now that our son is potty trained, they’re excellent for keeping in my purse for his hands/face.

These are the best

My daughter has broken out in eczema in the past from other wipes. Ever since we switched to water wiped we have had zero issues! I read that the wipes contained formaldehyde releasing agents which upset me, and i reached out to the company. This was their response and I was pleased with it!
‘We are happy to explain our position and views on the study you are referring to.

Firstly, I want to reassure you that nothing, absolutely nothing, matters more to us than you or your baby’s skin. Our company was started because of a father’s concern for his daughter’s sensitive skin so we know how important this is to parents and people who use our products daily.

On ingredients, we want to assure you that we are not hiding anything from you or any other people who use our wipes. Our formulation does not contain formaldehyde or formaldehyde releasing agents. On our packs, you see two ingredients listed (99.9% purified Irish water and a drop of fruit extract) and that’s all we ever add. But you’ll also see that we declare BAK on our products (which is a trace component from our fruit seed extract).

With the references to Formaldehyde below, firstly, we want to be clear that we have not participated in this study in anyway, so cannot verify any of the claims made. We have reviewed the full study text you raised
and we have found multiple instances in the paper where the author has queried the limitations, and called for further studies to be able to confirm the results presented within the paper.

In addition, our WaterWipes products are assessed and subject to sale by stringent local and international laws and regulation, alongside our own independent tests that we regularly carry out. It’s also something that other organizations have quite rightly checked when accrediting us – it’s how we have been approved by the Skin Health Alliance and been awarded the National Eczema Associations Seal of Acceptance, so our products have been tested and ratified by other external firms.

I hope the above helps explain our position and alleviates any concerns you may have had regarding our products. If you have any other questions, please do not hesitate to get in contact.’
We have continued to use these fory daughter and my newest baby without any issues. My only complaint is i wish the wipes were a little textured to help with cleaning. Otherwise they are perfect!

4Expert Score
No harsh ingredients

I really like that there’s few ingredients and no harsh chemicals. No breakouts from my children. The don’t leave residue behind and cleans well. Have a hard time pulling one of the wipes out of the package. I did use the wipes for spills, cleaning hands, face and other surfaces.

It's good, but it's not what it used to be

Previously used water wipes for kid#1. It used to have a lot more water content in each of the wipes.
Now thought they’d be the same, but for some reason it feels different with it being a little less moist on the top half of the packs. It’s still good but not as good as it used to be.
Feel like the pampers comparable is more moist than these are.

4Expert Score
Original version was great. New version is horrible.

We have been using these wipes for 5 years and loved them but something recently changed. The past few months we noticed the texture is different – rougher and harder to use (not to mention smaller in size). I hope they bring back the older version else I don’t plan to use these anymore.

4Expert Score
New look sucks

These wipes are basically the same, but the “new look” means they’re significantly shorter and thinner. Really disappointed.

4Expert Score
The only wipes that worked for my daughter 0-4 months

these were the only wipes that worked for my daughter newborn – 4 months. We tried so many different wipes/brand and keep coming back to these. I just wish the packs were bigger and they were easier to pull out of the packaging. Sometimes its very hard to pull out and expand the wipe.
Still will continue to use these because all other brands make my child’s bum irritated.

4Expert Score
They changed!

I love water wipes and how pure they are, but I don’t love that they made the wipes thinner and smaller. Size isn’t the biggest issue, really just the thinness.
They also are not as wet as they used to be. Not a huge issue, but I do like the old ones better.
Pampers aqua pure are my new favorites. They are bigger, thicker, wetter, and easier to dispense!!

4Expert Score
Great for paci, not for diaper changing

These are great to have when you have to clean a paci really quick or on-the-go. But these wipes are a little too rough on my baby’s bottom and don’t seem to clean as easily as other brands.

4Expert Score
Pediatrician recommended

My daughter’s pediatrician recommended this product for my baby’s sensitive skin. I like it so far. My only complaint is that I have to make sure that I pull the wipes slowly so as not to get multiple products at a time. I understand that this wipe is not as thick as the others due to its biodegradable nature.
