Amazon doesn’t make anything. So who really makes this oil?

Warren makes kirkland oil as well. When i went today, costco was selling a box containing 2 of the 5 gallon jugs of full synthetic for $24.99, which is about half of what bezos is charging for the exact same product. The costco jugs say, ‘manufactured by warren distribution, inc.’ and says ‘dexos approved gen-2’ as well.

Does anyone have a virgin oil analysis to post? Thank you!

Google petroleum quality institute of america. They have oil analysis of most pcmo oils including amazon basics. Search amazon and their oils will come up.

Does this oil meet vw’s 502.00 / 505.00 spec.?

It’s likely not going to be on the vw certified list. But, 502/505.00 does mirror acea a3/b4 a lot. In the older manuals, pre-longitudinal 1.8t oil sludge, the manual did give you options, saying it needed to meet 502.00/505.00, acea a3/b4, or api cf-4 (older tdi’s).

Says it works for my tesla. Where exactly would you suggest i put it?

Y would u be looking at oil if u drive a tesla?

How long i need to change oil

Your car may require changing (or adding additional) oil more frequently than what owners manual says if it has high miles. My 2011 acura tsx wagon has 150k miles and i need to add extra oil prior to the scheduled oil change. A quick check of the dip stick will let you know.

Does the bottle have an oil indicator level showing how much remains?

5w20 full syn high mileage 5qt had the see through indicator

Who is actually producing this for amazon?

Apparently this is the same exact oil as the mag 1 brand. Their oil is also “distributed by warren distribution“. Mag 1 is an excellent motor oil. I have been using it in all of my different vehicles for over a decade. It’s kind of the best kept secret, and it’s very very inexpensive. But this amazon basics brand is actually cheaper. 6 quarts of mag 1 will run you about $29.xx. 6 quarts of the amazon brand will run you about $24.95. I emailed mag 1 asking them for a solid answer, for clarification. I will update this comment as soon as i hear back from them. But if it’s the same stuff, i don’t care what the packaging is – i’m all about saving $5!

Does anyone know who manufactures this oil for amazon?

Warren oil rebotttles many brands damaged in manufacturing and shipping. From my many pickups there any oil could be put in any bottle. They ship to parts warehouses all over

What group(s) of base oils does this consist of?

From what i know, very few ‘full synthetics’ are 100% synthetic. Most are a blend of true synthetic and ‘hyper-processed’ natural oils which, in the us, are allowed to be sold as ‘full synthetic’. Not so in the rest of the world. A quick and dirty way to check (though not 100% full proof) is to look at the ‘identical’ product being sold from eu sources. If they don’t say full synthetic there, then the similar product from us sources are not full synthetic, no matter what the labels say. To the best of my knowledge about the only true 100% synthetic oils are sold by amsoil, mobile 1, and (i believe) royal purple. But even those companies can sell lower priced, blended versions.

For a 2007-2009 toyota prius rideshare car with 100k-200k miles, which is better, high mileage ‘full synthetic’ or high mileage ‘synthetic blend’?

Unless you have already started using high mileage or your prius is leaking oil. Don’t use high mileage oil. Next, make sure you check the necessary oil weight in your owners manual. A prius should use 0w-20 not 5w-30. Double check the manual. Next, use the full synthetic not a blend.

Will this oil work for a yamaha1982 xj650 motorcycle with 61,000 miles?

You don’t want to use car oil in a motorcycle because most motorcycles have a wet type clutch that sits in the engine oil. Friction modifiers that work fine in a car can cause clutch slippage or buildup on the clutch disks/plates requiring repair costs to clean or possibly replace the clutch pack.

How can i order drums of amazonbasics oil?

Ordered a bunch of 5 quarts and pour in a drum which you buy at walmart

What is the difference in the oil between high mileage full synthetic and full synthetic that isn’t high mileage?

The high mileage oil is better for engines with more miles on em due to additives (its not more viscous unless its a different weight. 5w-30hm will be similar to just a normal 5w-30). Like it will benefit an engine with 150k miles more than one with 20k.

Can this be used in infinit g35 2004?

Yes, no problem is great for vehicle and good value

Whats the difference between this and the gray colored carton of the amazon branded oil?

Red is ‘synthetic blend’ vs grey being ‘full synthetic,’ full synthetic is premium oil, can go more miles before next oil change and better protective/lubricating qualities, reason why its also more expensive. Some cars require full synthetic, others do not, oil cap/owners manual would say what’s needed.

Can i go 1 year or 15,000 miles with this oil?

I agree with anton. Assuming the life of an average oil filter is about 3k miles, and assuming you really should change the oil and filter at the same time, i try not to go more than 4k miles without an oil change. Sometimes i get lazy and go a little over, but i never ever get up to 5k.

What is the difference between amazon basics heavy duty synthetic oil and amazon basic synthetic euro formula (both are 5w-40)

The “euro” types of oils have different minerals that european engines and manufacturers call for. Some bmws, mercedes benz, audi, volkswagen, and other european automotive manufacturers call for a “euro-spec” oil.

Will any of the amazon basics motor oils meet gf6 specification this year?

Gf6 just came out in 2020. It usually takes manufacturers a few months to come out with the new standards. I suspect that the amazon basics full synthetic will meet this standard sooner than the semi-synthetic and of course the conventional may not meet it at all. Mobil one has been the first i am aware of hitting the market with the new gf6 designation with valvoline right on their heels.

Does this meet and approved by vw for the 502.00 and 505.01 spec?

It doesn’t say it’s specifically approved and/or meets any vehicle manufacturer’s recommendations. I think it’s a safe oil to use but i would go with what the manufacturer of your vehicle recommends because it would have the recommended additives.

Is this oil similar like chevron supreme sae 10w40 ?

I found it to be very close if not the same i was well pleased with the product

Pro charged coyote loves it

I use this in a 2001 civic a 2016 explorer and my 2018 pro charged 5.0 the coyote gets beat on pretty hard and this oil lasts the 5k with no burning or consumption issues at all

Price has skyrocketed!

I’ve been using this oil for a couple years and have had great results. However, at almost $10/qt. I believe i’m moving back to mobil 1. I can’t believe amazon charges this much now, considering they spent nothing on advertising for this product, unlike some of the big auto oil companies, who at least support racing. Sorry, but you can do better amazon!

Update: so, yes… Everything is more expensive these days. However, this may be mostly a packaging issue. After writing this, i noticed that the 5 qt. Jug had not gone up much at all. Most of my vehicles take 6 qts so i hate the 5 qt jug these days, but if you do the math and get a system going the price point is way better if you can buy this way.

Great oil!

I’ve been running amazon oil for the past few oil changes. Full synthetic in a chevy pickup with 265k miles and counting. Truck still runs strong. Value is good compared to mobile 1.

Custom made

This is made by warren distributing, a large and established refiner. They re brand for many business’s. Don’t know why the price is up so high, it was $20 a little while ago. Great oil and meets all specs, but now it’s a little more expensive than some of the main brands.

Doesnt burn up or leak out! Best oil for old cars!

I have an old toyota car. I was having to put 4 quarts of oil in every time i filled up the gas tank because the car burned through it so fast. I was using valvoline oil for years and tried a couple other brands as well. After using this amazon oil i will never go back! This stuff stays in the engine. I can go through 3 tanks of gas before now before needing to add oil. This stuff is amazing.

Amazing for the price!

I got this for my 2021 honda grom and it works like a charm! Engine feels great no issues.

Hard to find nowadays

Straight conventional oil is hard to find they’re usually synthetic blended. This is great for vehicles which synthetics could seep past weak areas

You should use it if you like to save money

I’ve been using this oil for a couple years in my dodge durango stx. 3.6 liter v-6. No issues, saving money. I like the auto ship program, i don’t need to remember to order the oil. I like that the oil come in a box with 6 quarts, same as what the durango needs. No buying a 5 quart jug then having to buy separate and expensive quart. I try to keep a box (of 6 quarts) on hand at all times so when the oil change is needed i’m ready to to go. I put about 25k miles a year, so i’ve done roughly 10 oil changes with this stuff. While your at it, order a good filter, i like wix. Don’t cheap out on the filter or push the mileage between changes. I go 5k, it makes it easy to remember when to change the oil. I also keep a piece of the filter box with the number on it and write the date and miles, then toss in the car folder to refer to incase i forget the mileage when i last changed the oil.

Hard to beat for the price

Hard to beat this oil for the price. I don’t trust it as much as i do other oils, but as long as you are on top of your oil change i don’t see why it’s a bad option.

It's oil – can only hope it's made to standards

It’s oil. I wish the bottle had wide spout, the narrow one make it hard to be reused for oil refuse.

Oily slick lubricating goodness

Good value for money – no engine blow ups, smoke, check engine lights – lubes my toyota’s 3.5 v6 to specs, basically does exactly what it needs to do, no more no less and it tastes great on waffles

Quality oil for fair price – verify it's correct however

I drive a lot, and have used amazon brand oil in my vehicles for a couple years now. Always use high mileage synthetic or regular synthetic. Usually have no issues, but recently ordered my next oil change. As you can see by the label, clearly 5w-30, but the amazon barcode has it labeled as the 5w-20 i ordered. My oil change was due this weekend and could not wait for a replacement, so i used it anyway. Thankfully the motor has some miles and it’s getting warmer out so not too much of an issue, but ensure you double-check before pouring.

Tl;dr: make sure you get the weight oil that you ordered, mine was mislabeled.
