As it happens, i already had a scale i’ve been using for many years. I found i needed a 2nd one. I opted to try this one even though a fair # of people had pictures claiming the scale was inaccurate.

The problem is that they are weighing filled cans, not the contents. The weight specified on a package represents the packaged weight (‘net weight’) and does not include the package such as the can or jar.

As you can see from the pictures i posted, i weighed first a cup (pics 1 & 2) and in the 2nd a bow/cup/storage container (pics 3 & 4). The results are the same. (note the 1 gram difference in the last 2 pictures is because my cat jumped up on the counter and bumped everything just as i shot the picture. I didn’t think it was worth taking another picture for just 1 gram.)

when testing the scale, start with an empty container and tare the weight. In other words, reset the scale to zero with the bowl on it. (see the 5th pic.) you can accomplish by 2 different ways:
(1) with the scale turned off, set the container on the scale and then turn it on. It will be set to zero with the bowl on top not being included.
(2) after the scale is on, set the bowl (or other container) on top of the scale and press the ‘tare’ button once (it’s the secondary function of the on/off button on the right)

then add the contents of the container and compare it with the net weight on the container (6th pic; ignore scale). Note, that you will have to carefully scrape out every little bit in order to get an accurate result. (7th pic). The contents stated on the can of cat food and the amount i weighed are identical.

Note: you may get some discrepancies because it’s usually impossible to get each and every bit out of the container. I had the help of a small spatula to aid with removing all the contents. But even so, don’t be surprised if you have about 10-20 g difference from the net weight.

The only true method for determining if a scale is truly accurate is to compare it to another scale and weigh the exact same items.

It is what amazon claims a basic scale that performs simply and easily at a modest price.

I have used it to measure a wide variety of solids and liquids. I love it. It works great, the batteries seem to last quite a while even with regular use, i have no complaints. The accuracy of the scale is great for most everyday uses.

Worked instantly out of the box. Has different measure of weights. Click the on button, place item on and instant measurement. So easy to use. Value is unbelievable.

I was surprised at the size as it was larger than expected. I’m an archer & i am using it to weigh my arrows after they are fully constructed to insure they are within tolerance & of the same weight. Accuracy is a must in archery!

Have always wanted a scale for the kitchen. Did a lot of canning this summer and one recipe ask for pounds of vegetable so went to amazon and ordered this. Delivered in two days.

Scale is great for mailing small packages at home. Found scale to be accurate and no issues. Great base size – not too small but not overly large. Great buy!

I got this when i was preparing for bariatric surgery as i was needing a way to measure and track nutrient intake. I couldn’t be happier with this purchase. It is a good size, easy to use, accurate, and can switch between most common units.

I bought this about two weeks ago to help keep track of food. It has worked great! It has so many different conversions, and it does the job for a decent price!

I make to strict recipes and its important to the accuracy of process to have exact gram measurements. I only noticed though when i had my other simple scale on at the same time as a comparison that the amazon scale (at least my one) was not (immediately) responsive, or accurate and sometimes didn’t tare easily. So i would have 3 g of material weighed in the accurate scale and the amazon scale would still be reading zero for same amounts. This is significant divergence in accuracy and response and especially in the relative small amounts. Then it sometimes would begin to align. So my scale is inconsistent. I missed the return window as i had it stored until i needed it. I thought it was a great price. Other thing is its good it gives lb and oz but would like also a digital lbs reading too. Comes with batteries, good price just watch it!

I tried this for single dosing coffee beans in a grinder for espresso, but the measurement wasn’t quite the precision i wanted to make consistent shots each time, so i got a 0.1g scale instead.

But for anything that i don’t need 0.1g accuracy, this should be fine. Plus i got it open box for under $5, so it’s a great cheap spare.

Very reliable product and is fantastic at measuring both solids and liquids with fairly accurate readings across the board. My only critic is it is not very good at picking up on lighter items such as yeast or salt; if you are wanting to weigh something that does not have much mass it can be difficult to get readings on anything under 5oz

I bought one before this that had a light which made it easier to read the numbers for the same price as this one, so i feel if it doesn’t have the light then the price should reflect that. Not to mention that the other one as well has a higher weight capacity..

Standard kitchen scale. Its been spot on every time i’ve used it. Recently used it for baking measurements, got it covered in flour, melting butter and who knows what else. Cleaned off super easy and still works great.

This scale is ok for the price. However the final weight warbles between 2-3 numbers without anything other than what’s being weighed is touching the scale. This makes knowing what the final final weight actually is.
It’s also a bit finicky when switching between the measurements options and also has to be completely flat on a hard surface to even turn on. Any miniscule anything under the scale or barely uneven and it won’t turn on.

I ordered this scale and use it. It is so good

Buttons feel cheap but everything seems to work well.
